Hello people I have just joined Warrior Forum in hope of becoming a better marketer, make new connections and chat with people.

Now my first question Id like to ask is...
Well I have a lot of knowledge around graphics design (logos, headers, flyers, 3d, etc....), video design (intros, vfx, etc..), article writing, building websites, and much more.

So I wanted to build a website where I would offer all those services and all, but I just want to ask for the opinion here first, what you all think? Would it be good, because I am not very good at marketing my services.

Please let me know, any useful tip would be very appreciated.

Well, with those skills you possess I think you could find some work QUICK on fiverr.com.

If you sell a few gigs on there, you can use your customer's testimonials to build credibility on your own website and charge higher prices for your services. Take some time to browse gigs related to what you want to offer on Fiverr and see how those other vendors are doing it.

Then I would find something unique you can offer your clients that will stand out and make them want to come back for more. Having something unique while offering a high quality service is a surefire way to make you more and more sales.

Well, the first step in being better at marketing yourself is having something somewhere to send people to, so yes, having a website would be a good first step.

    Hey @truew,

    Firstly, welcome to the forum!

I'm going to share with you some things I wish I'd known in the beginning, this would of saved me months of struggle and confusion.

    1. The World Is A Big Place And You Are In Business.

Let me first clarify something, you're in business now. The primary concept of business is to sell something, whether it be a product or a service. It's about selling. No business has ever become successful without selling.

You talked about how you're knowledgeable in these different things (Graphics, Video, Web etc..) yet you're not sure if you should be offering them on a site? Here's a fact for you, there are over 7 billion people on this planet, I'm sure at least one of them will buy from you.

    2. Change Your Mindset

"I'm not good at marketing my services".

You joined this forum in the search of becoming a better marketer right? Well, go learn. Now.

You need to become more flexible, if you don't, you'll fail. Everyday, businesses are changing. Their improving their products, offering new services, expanding on ideas. If they don't, they will lose customers and go bankrupt.

The world is changing daily, you need to learn to adapt.

Sell your current skill set today, focus on learning new things everyday, then sell what you've recently learnt.

Take the web development scene for example, people are adapting. No one wants websites coded up with standards that were used in the 90's, people want the latest technology. I'm talking HTML5, CSS3. Code that meets today's web standards.

When developers don't move on, they get left behind. The same goes for most industries. The same will happen to you, go launch your website, learn how to market it, and start working towards making your dreams a reality.

Entrepreneurs find problems, then provide solutions.

Your problem is that you're not great at marketing, the solution to that problem is to learn.

    Hope this helps.

    - Joe

I chose entrepreneurship over further education despite being laughed at by my friends and family..

I recently hit the "RESTART" button on my life, read my personal blog to find out how I did it :)

I have to agree with Joe. Get down to learning how to be a better marketer and get your website up as you can't sell anything if people can't have some sort of tangible product.

You go shopping you want to touch and see the products, on the web you can only see and read about products. So give them something to see and read.

Don't ever offer pricing for services. You want the clients to contact you so that you can build a relationship with them while you solve their problem with your service. Plus some jobs are small and others can be quite big, so never offer a blanket pricing.

One more thing is do not get caught up in the information overload and the hey look over here offers. If it does not directly answer your question or solve your problem, move on and forget. If you don't you will get side tracked with "New Ideas" and "New Questions".

All the best to you and your new venture.

    Welcome.

Your services will be in demand as long as this forum exists.

I would start a service thread immediately showcasing your skills. You'll likely get faster traffic here than creating a website and driving traffic to it second.

I encourage you to get your site up and running and quickly.

But you could bridge the time gap by offering a service here in the Warriors For Hire section and possibly giving some of your services away in the beginning to encourage testimonials.

Social proof is where it's at these days.

If you use Fiverr, understand that it's a loss leader for what you have to offer - so make sure you have the correct upsells in place and working on your behalf.

Welcome and best of luck either way!
