What do you do to track traffic sources?

INTERNET MARKETING

So I plan to direct traffic to one of my sites via a couple different sources and wanted to be able to know how much traffic I'm getting from each source. I know that this can be done with different link-tracking services available out there, but I just wanted to know a simple way that's worked for you guys.

Google analytics is very comprehensive. You can use utm_source on the source links to easily identify the sources in your reports.

There is also clicky.com, it is easy to visualize.

Analytics works really well especially if you want to track organic traffic sources. It also filters the stats for you so you don't see bot/spider traffic in your reports. There are also various plugins (both free and paid) that can be used on wordpress blogs like JetPack.

A simple tracking software like our Linktrackr can help you track traffic and conversion rates from specific sources, but if you want to track sources like search engines as well you can also check out improvly.

1. Bud URL for tracking clicks.

2. Google Analytics for tracking conversions

3. For A/B split testing you can use Visual Website Optimizer.

All of these combined can contribute to tracking and measuring your numbers
when it comes to using traffic sources to test your campaigns.

  Whatever people claim there's no real alternative to GA. It's the most comprehensive solution, period. Yes it has a steep learning curve (some parts of it) but otherwise you cant beat it. I checked many alternatives.

I use this nifty script called MyClick Boss. It helps me track clicks. So if your traffic is coming from solo ads this is a good script to use.

Use Clicky Analytics. Far better than Google analytics but it's a paid tool.

If you're looking for a free tool just go with Google Analytics because it's pretty comprehensive, and you can track conversions as well. But like SEO Power said, if you're looking for a more premium tool then Clicky is pretty awesome
