At an impass on niche selection...

Have taken a couple of online courses and have reading these forums exhaustively now to the point of addiction. I have come up with what my early research has shown are 5 decent ideas. A couple are ecommerce, the rest blog/authority type sites where I'll go the affiliate route. I have a firm plan in place for how to execute and realize content and list building will be my starting point but I really need help in choosing the idea that gives me the greatest chance of success.

I'm really stuck here. Does anyone know of a good tool that might help me in this process or should I consider a coach who can review these ideas with me. I'm committed to doing this the right way but the challenge of comiting to an idea has been hard.

If this is in the wrong forum or too similar to other frequently asked posts my apologies.

Well the best thing you can do is to write down your own interests. If you want to create an authority site you'll have to add content on a regular basis, so if it's about a topic you don't care about you'll find it hard to continue creating new content.

Secondly, make sure there's a market for the niche you select. In other words, make sure there are good products you can promote and a lot of people buying those products.

After that jsut take action and create your site.

But don't forget it takes time to build an authority site, so don't give up too easy

If you can afford a coach, do that. Based on what you wrote, you might want to check out Tristan Bull's thread. I'm not endorsing him - I haven't bought into his coaching - but his focus is on creating sales funnels that generate income and subscribers quickly. Seems to fit what you mentioned and so it's worth a look.

Thanks all.... I'll take a look at Tristan Bell.... I kind of would like to go the coach route. Again I have a plan to execute it's deciding which idea is the best to attack. They are all areas I have experience and a knowledge base in, but some are a little tougher to figure out in terms of viability. Maybe a coach can help with that. Also looking at Storecoach, Jeff Walker, Alex Jeffreys and maybe Chris Farrell.

Well, me and JensSteyaert were replying at the same time...if it is an authority site you are looking to create, I agree with him and you don't really need a coach for that. You simply need interest that will motivate you to stick with your choice. I wouldn't go with Tristan, Alex or Chris Farrell if that is what you are wanting to do. I can't speak on the other two you mentioned.

          mw13,

Don't worry that you have found 5 possible niches. There are thousands of great niches online. Just don't let the impasse stop you entirely. You are better off picking any one of the five than being stopped in your progress.
          • Of the five, where is the demand the strongest?
          • Of the five, where is your interest the greatest?
          • Of the five, where is your knowledge, training, or experience the highest?
          • Of the five, where can you identify a "position" for your business that is a little different than others in the niche?
          • Of the five, where is it easiest to locate large groups of your audience (prospects) in one place?
          • Of the five, where are the prospects the most rabid and passionate about the niche?
I would pick the niche that most often appears at the top of the list for each of these questions.

          Good luck to you,

          Steve

I like Steve B's advice. If I were in your shoes I'd consider in which niche could you generate a profit the fastest and has big growth potential. I like earning fast, getting profitable and either let it earn on it's own with minimal oversight and move on or hire people to build it up.

    My main 2 considerations are:

    1. Can I create a profitable newsletter fast and profit with paid traffic?

    Or

    2. Does have massive social media appeal to build up massive traffic quickly and start earning.

The best is for me is a niche that works well with social media including buying traffic and build a list with the hordes of traffic at the same time. With social media I also monetize with display ads and affiliate offers to fund more traffic.
