Are Google Ads Effective?

Hello,

I'm new here to the forum, I'm wondering what everyone thinks about Google Adsense. I'm considering advertising on there and had a few questions.

1. What is a good click-through rate for ads? Are ads effective without a large budget?

2. What kind of budget would a small business need to advertise and see sales?

3. I have heard of click fraud with Google, how can I not be a victim of it?

4. Are there alternatives to Google Adsense that are cheaper, more effective or better at reaching consumers?

Any input you have would be very helpful, I'm thinking of putting $25 in Google ads to start with.

I take it you mean Adwords.

And the questions you asked are very broad - there isn't a direct answer because there is just too much unknown...but I'll try.

    1. Good CTR varies on niche but probably around 2-5ish %. The main thing about CTR is that it'll affect your quality score...which is what actually changes your ad display %

    2. Budget wise - how "big" to see sales....another tough one. It depends tremendously. If you are trying to sell a $1000 item...you'll need a bigger budget...maybe it'll cost you $500 to get that one sale...but you'll net $500.

    Or...maybe you're selling something for $6....then...if you're spending over $6 per sale...obviously...that's not viable.

3.There are scammers out there. I personally don't do anything about it - tho, I am sure there are courses of action to prevent it - but I've never had a "huge" issue.

    4. BingAds is exactly like Adwords...but on Bing...it's usually cheaper. Tho, I believe their click counts tend to be off a little bit...but, it's certainly worth testing out.

As for $25 - more than likely...unless you get very lucky....will not be enough money and you'll basically throw it down the drain.

Great campaigns are built through testing and modification. Very rarely does anyone hit a home run right off the bat.

Thanks a lot Nate, I'm looking at using the promotion of $25 for $100 of credit, which should make up for a few sales I hope.

What is the quality score? Does a low score mean my ad doesn't get displayed as much or it gets displayed more?

The idea is to get some sales to get cash flowing and putting the profit towards more advertising and product and grow my business that way.

I just know that I ignore ads whenever I see them, so I don't know how Google Adwords would be effective.

I found it to be waste of money, would always spend more then what would get in return. Invest your money in SEO it is slower but better results.

Would you recommend any print advertising? Whether that's flyers posted around town or paying for adspace in a newspaper? I imagine it depends on what you're selling.

Before you invest any time or money trying to advertise a supplement on AdWords, do some research to make sure it's allowed. AdWords can be hard on this niche. They are purposely vague in their policies to discourage those who would game the system, but here's what's in their support documentation:

        https://support.google.com/adwordspo.../2423645?hl=en
        https://support.google.com/adwordspo...r/176031?hl=en

I have actually been working with a company that's trying to advertise supplements in AdWords and have been talking to Google reps to get various parts of the account approved. They've told me that they refer to legitscripts.com when making decisions about which supplements to allow. Regardless, be prepared for a headache.
