It's not just you, i also received a bunch of messages the last days to inform me my Wso's have dropped off a certain page.

I checked and the "receive messages from administrator" is turned off, so i guess it's not possible to stop these messages.

Well it's their business, but i think they should add the option to turn them off...

I only received one and found that annoying enough. It's sad that there are so many negative changes since the new owners took control. I don't know why they make such changes when it only frustrates the many members here and may cause some to disappear.

Coincidentally, I just got my second message soon after reading this message. I dislike it, and hope it can be changed. I don't need to be continuously reminded that my thread is off the first page. Obviously if I was told the first time, and didn't bump it.. then I shouldn't need to be told again, right? Unless it magically appeared on the first page again.

Will, I've PM'd the new Admin to point him to this thread to bring this to his attention.

    Well, on a different note...

I miss the icon that tells me I've posted in a particular thread. Consequently, I'll look at the main page and not bother to click on anything. Not having that icon disengages users though I am getting more work done not hanging around the forum as much.

I'm with you there. I cannot for the life of me fathom why they would take away a marker that shows us we're participating in a thread. There's a star if it's not a hot thread, but most of the threads I participate in are hot threads, so that little star icon is pretty useless.

One of the reasons that I like the email notification ... saves me the hassle of looking for my threads in a whole page of ads to see if it's time to bump them. A real PITA.

ctrl+ f doesn't cut it when you are scrolling down a list of titles after hitting New Posts and you'd like to be able to easily identify the threads that you are participating in.

They cut the listing fee in half so IMO it's natural to expect them to try to recoup some of that revenue through bump fees.

Anyway, with the increase in affiliate sales and (what seems to me...I have no proof) a drop in organic traffic in the WSO section I'd strongly consider setting all WSO (and maybe even all paid) threads to expire/delete after X days on page 3 or beyond or after X days if I owned the joint. Try paying for a newspaper classified ad one time and having it run forever. Tell your ad rep it's ok because they can just bump it down to the end of the classified section.

I get that the notification emails/PMs might be a slight annoyance. But if I advertised in the paid sections here I don't think I'd make much fuss without first considering how good I really have it from an advertising standpoint.

That said, I'm not singling you out, Will. Or anyone else for that matter. Having the option to disable the notifications is not an unreasonable request. But I do understand why they're sending them.

Not quite the same thing. The farther past page 3 it gets, the less attention it gets and that isn't the case with a print ad which stays in the same spot until it's done running. Doing that would just make it more of a pain to re-run the ad at a later date. Have to recreate and wait for approval all over again instead of just bumping it.

As for cutting the listing fee in half, I'll venture it guess that with the increased amount of WSOs being created and bumped due to the lower cost, that they make more than they did at $40. It seems Paul may have said something like that some time ago, although I can't be certain.

1 notification is one thing. But as I said there is bug and as such I had 3 separate notification for the one WSO yesterday within about 10 minutes. Add that to the mix when you have 15+ WSO's and that is when things are ultra annoying.

But I'd prefer no notifications anyway and this should be an option. So hopefully they will appear in this thread and tell us how we can disable those notifications.

Nope. I may have speculated, but I don't have any info on the topic, so I wouldn't make any concrete statements on it.

I'd be surprised to find I said anything more than it was a possibility.

    I've got you all beat.

I received a WSO notice though I don't have any WSOs posted.

When I checked the WSO thread in question, it was actually an APD thread.

They definitely have some work to do.

I cannot for the life of me fathom why they would take away a marker that shows us we're participating in a thread.
I would think it would be a five second fix. As Travlinguy mentioned, I don't even bother looking any more.

The APD and all the subforums under WSO are getting the notifications because their main category is WSO. Mine is Complete Sites for Sale, which is also under WSO, and like I said, were it not for the notification, finding my threads would be tedious.

Personally I don't have to be reminded that my WSO is available to be bumped because it's a part of my business to know that. I don't think notifications are helpful at all and just another time sink in my day if I had to read/delete them.

This is sort of like a catch 22 right.

Forum notifies all the vendors they can bump = falling off the first page quicker = more revenue for the forum = less exposure for the advertiser.

      Rus,

I thought the exact same thing when I saw those notifications. They may say they are trying to 'help' us by sending those notifications but infact all they do is serve to remind more people to bump their offers and thus mean we all get less exposure of our WSO's. So yes, they are definitely not in our favor, they only serve to make the forum more money.

Still surprised Alistair hasn't shown in this thread yet.

By we all get less exposure, you mean you get less exposure? The ones who are reminded to bump their WSO will get more exposure if they bump it rather than less exposure. At any rate, since the price is now a mere $20, I'm sure everyone gets at least $20 worth of exposure.

I understand if YOU don't want the notifications, but some of us are happy to have the notifications, so turning them off individually, if that's possible, should be the way to go.

How about you remove the messages all together? The WSO section got plenty of bumps and posts for a long time without ever having these things. Instead of bugging people to bump how about you spend your time making this an awesome forum full of people so we all want to bump / make posts in the WSO section. That is put your effort into making the forum even better, not into begging people to pay you again.

Getting three messages in 10 minutes can be kind of annoying but I personally welcome that I get a notice that my WSO dropped from the 1,2,3 page. Makes it easier for me to see how it is doing and when to bump. I guess in the next weeks the new owners will make all those processes more smooth.

It would be good if there was scheduled bumps...

    Set and forget!

    Example:

Let's say I wanted my bump my WSO every tuesday and thursday at 2pm EST for example and my thread is off the second page it would automatically bump my wso without me having to do it manually.

I'd rather have that, than getting notifications.

I understand WarriorPlus has auto bump but scheduled bumps would be a great addition to the forum warrior forum and warrior+
