Yes especially if you psot on blogs who have commentluv enabled, then the latest blog post on your own blog is added below the comment. If you have an interesting blog post title you can get some very targeted traffic that way.

You can use this free tool to find these blogs in your niche: www.dropmylink.com

I disabled commentluv and comments on my blog, because of the ridiculous amount of spam I had from people searching for the commentluv footprint. Jen mate, you can't really say blog commenting is a good idea these days, it really isn't. Just think about all those folks running scrapebox, scraping your urls and posting indiscriminately. Google doesn't like it and I bet in a while commentluv will be gone forever.

Yes perhaps you're right, but then again the very popular blogs aren't just run by one person and are heavily moderated. Some even require joining as a member before you can post.

So if you're an honest and ethical person who leaves quality comments related to the actual blog post, then there can be some value in that. But just for traffic purposes, not for Seo....

I think Andre has a valid point here, comment spam has done no favours for my blog.

The amount of crappy comments I got from having commentluv and people using automated tools to hit my blog has been a headache.

I cringe when I think once I made the tools to automatically do this. It's true I still have a blog commenter that will find the blogs and navigate to them and fill in all fields apart from the comment field.

However I removed the automatic posting and advised people to think about what they were writing. Like Andre I have now completely disabled blog commenting and my life is much sweeter

  • I don't think blog comment can drive traffic.

You can try, after 10 comments, I don't want to read anymore.

Do you click to people's profile when they comment?

    I don't normally do it.

For example, in this forum, I don't click to people's profile when they comment. I may give them a thank if it is a good one.

You get random people every time you post, it is not likely to remember them.

If I am lucky, if you disagree with me, after reading my comment, click on my profile and leave me a PM, give me something like "in your face, baby".

I really want someone to work together, doing guest post for me and I will do guest post back, like swap link, it is a better idea than comment.

Blog comments need to be relevant as well. From an SEO standpoint, they may or may not help you. But a well placed comment may still get you some immediate traffic. Worth a shot if you don't over do it.

It's not really all about driving traffic. That's only one part of it! Instead, it's all about increasing engagement and a discussion on your website.

If a new visitor finds your article and it has no comments on it. It gives them a bad taste in their mouth. However, if you have even just one on that article it shows that a "conversation can start here".

I've been to plenty of blogs and websites that have over 100 comments on it. I do stop reading after the first 10, but I still get that first impression that says "Woah, this blogs built a community around it.".

The more comments = the more traffic in the future.

Yes it makes sense that if you post good quality comments on targeted blogs that it can very well yield you some targeted traffic. Don't worry about SEO, Google and all that. Think about engaging with people on a mutually interesting topic. Birds of a feather flock together. So if you have something of worth to say to your niche I'm sure blog owners and their visitors would appreciate you and be drawn to visit your site. That's just human nature.
