Clickbank Email Spamming - Just Plain Stupid - Here's Why...

Here is an extract of an email just sent out by a very well known and trusted Clickbank vendor.
As he is a good guy, and we all hate spam I thought I might play it forward here.

He is obviously really mad, and I, for one, don't blame him.

So let this serve as a warning, and just one reason why email spamming is a very bad idea.

I completely realize that 98% of the affiliates on this list are good honest people and legitimate affiliate marketers...

And I TRULY appreciate all of you that are great affiliates and good people too.

But the other 2% of clickbank affiliates are complete IDIOTS with no brain at all!

Yes, we're talking about affiliates that somehow think it's OK to spam... whether it's email spam or social network spam, it's these MORONS that give direct response marketing as a whole a bad name, and it's exactly why google, facebook and other ad networks ban legitimate offers simply because all direct response style health offers end up with a bad reputation due to idiot affiliates.

Case in point...

I sent out the affiliate update last weekend about my new acquisition of the company [name removed] , and I provided a really super high converting email creative that's been working well for many of our legit affiliate partners recently. And a bunch of good legit affiliates mailed this to their lists and everybody seemed to do great with it!
Most affiliates were really happy with their earnings and also the quality of the [product name removed] that they were providing to their readers.

Then, the bad guys have to come in...yes, the IDIOTS...

Today, we find out that at least one clickbank affiliate (that has clearly had some brain damage in the past) has used email spam to send out this creative.
To make things WORSE, this affiliate used MY name as the From line on the spam email, which tarnishes my reputation, and it's also illegal for you to use my name as the From line... if you want to infuriate me and get yourself in a world of legal trouble, this is how to do it.

Well, to this moron affiliate who spammed...if you're reading this, I hope you're aware that we KNOW WHO YOU ARE, and we will be taking legal action against you. In addition, ALL of your clickbank accounts will be BANNED for life (I've already contacted clickbank security about you) ... and on top of that, you WILL NOT BE PAID by clickbank... so all of your spamming actions were worthless anyway, as clickbank will not pay a spammer who doesn't play by the rules.

So there you have it - don't do it folks, it may come back and bite you in the nether regions.

    I agree with you.

I don't think the problem's specific to ClickBank, but I don't doubt that that's a relatively common context for its appearance.

In reality, unless electing to "white-list" their product at the outset (and who does that?), and vet affiliates, ClickBank vendors have no control over their affiliates' activities, can't reliably contact or even necessarily identify all of them, and tend to be able to identify such problems only after they've arisen, rather than trying to prevent them.

Yes Alexa, it is unfortunately all too common, and I have to agree with what you say.

I suppose many CB vendors, especially newer ones are not aware of all the jiggery-pokery that goes on, and even if they were they would perhaps not know what steps to take.

This exactly is why I decided to go with JVZ.

    If anyone destroys my rep. it will be me or I at least will have an email addy for them! (;
