Help me with my strategy: sell solo ads or product

I would like to start monetizing my list. I have some web properties that get a lot of traffic. As a result, I have a list of about 100k members growing by about 1500 a week. Now, I haven't ever tried sending them an email (these members come to the websites...forums etc).

As I see it, I have two primary options I can pursue regarding this list. So I'd like get opinions here (and a follow-up question to this question):

Should I:
1) Sell solo ads; or
2) Sell a product to the list

If (2), would you:

(a) Send them directly to a sales page (since you already have them in a list, do you need to go to a squeeze)?

or

(b) Set up an entire sales funnel (squeeze->oto->autoresponder)? In otherwords, use the primary list to market a new sales funnel, almost as if you ran a solo ad but for your own funnel.

I know these may seem like dumb questions but since I haven't done email marketing yet I'd appreciate your opinions?

    wow, a 100k list and you haven't done anything to build a relationship with that list, that's insane! I remember making the same mistake several years ago but I only had about 10k subscribers. If you are not building a relationship with those subscribers then you will be risking getting flagged for spam. I'm surprised you didn't get the funnel n place from the beginning with an autoresponder sequence. That's really impressive though pulling in 1500 leads a week.

      I know Thing is, I went about creating some sites that offer value to the members not thinking about email marketing. Rookie mistake! I'm probably going to set up a generic auto-responder just to keep the list "warm" until I figure out how to best utilize the list. At least the new 1500 weekly subscribers will get used to receiving a weekly email. Thanks for your comments!
