Bizarre sales phenomenon keeps happening...

I live most of the time in Spain but I spend good chunks of time in the U.K. and in California several times a year.

Every time I travel to one of my alternate "homes" I experience a surge in sales from that region that lasts until I leave. The effect is especially strong in the U.K. Only around 8% of my sales normally originate from there. But I arrived for the summer just a few days ago and U.K. sales have surged to a good 25%!

This isn't a one-time event... the pattern has repeated itself for the three years since I started in IM.

My sites are hosted in the U.S. My own physical location can have no bearing whatsoever on site performance... so what's going on? :confused:

    I wonder if it has anything to do with Google recognising that you have logged into your admin area from a UK ip address?

    But keep thinking hard - and for good measure try talking nicely to a few UK computers to keep the positive vibes going.

    Skyrocket your Sales - Invite me to your House!

    Now..you could cut deals with people to stay with them, or let them pay you some nice hotels, things like that. As long as you stay it will boost their sales.
    Needless to say you would only offer this service for really cool locations, like Hawaii, Maui, etc...etc... The beauty of it: You dont need to "do" anything, you can just be on the beach and go swimming

      I noticed this when I went to New Zealand - but it had nothing to do with website sales. I noticed it with email marketing. The broadcasts I sent out when in New Zealand generated more sales from that time zone.

      Geo-targeting is one way to capitalize on this as there is a sweet spot in each time zone which tends to result in higher email open rates, and therefore more sales.
