Optin Monster vs Ninja Popup

Hi Guys!

I am looking for a WP plugin to help me collect emails. I know there are plenty of posts in the warrior forum for all types of awesome plugins such as Hybrid Connect, Popup Domination and Optinskin. But I have decided I wanted to go for a popup plugin that gets the users attention when they try to leave my site, so Optin Monster and Ninja Popup seem to be quite good for this.

I have heard some great stuff about Optin Monster but the price worries me as its a little expensive. I was just wondering if anyone here has any experience in using both of these plugins and can provide me with some advice on which one to go for.

Another thing I would like to know is the type of customization allowed for both. Can you remove the name field on the optin popups to just display the email address? I've seen some of the templates and almost all of them ask for the name and the email address.

Any help anyone can give me on this will be greatly appreciated

    Hi Kim,

Syed Balkhi here, and I'm one of the co-founders of OptinMonster.

First of all, I'm glad that you've heard great stuff about our plugin. To answer your question:

Yes, we do have a checkbox that allows you to remove the Name field, so it will only show the email field in your optin form.

The reason why our plugin is a bit more expensive than all others that you find in the market is: superior code quality which means less bugs and easy to use.

Aside from that, we're by far the most complete plugin in the market as well. We offer multiple optin types aside from just the lightbox (i.e Sidebar forms, After post forms, Floating footer bars, slide-in forms that come out of the corner, and now our signature Canvas feature which allows you to completely customize your popups and use it for more than just optin - i.e Download now buttons, coupon codes, video, etc etc).

Not to mention, we try our hardest to provide top-notch support which sets us apart from most of our competitors.

      Hi Syed,

Thank you for the information. The canvas feature definitely sounds interesting so I will definitely check it out.

      Thanks

Interesting because I could not get the exit intent to work on my WP site with OptinMonster. Instead of getting it to work and responding to tickets in a timely manner, they decided to refund my purchase.

A free plugin that works great is Popup Ally. Try it out.
It has exit intent as well

I chucked Pop Up Ally on my site a while back and it's converting really well so far. I plan to upgrade to a premium solution soon but just haven't got round to it yet.

The exit intent is a bit iffy at times but it does an OK job for a free plugin.
