Hello All!

I have just come across this forum and it looks awesome! I have recently graduated from university and am looking to start a SMS/text message platform to sell to businesses. I currently have very little knowledge in the field and will appreciate any guidance. I believe there are many platforms already out there so any recommendations and most profitable for the UK will be helpful.

    However, can you explain a bit more about your business? For instance, what is your purpose of selling these to businesses, and what problem are you trying to solve?

  • I assume you mean an SMS advertising service, right?
  • What's the business model? Do you mean market your service to business, where you will run SMS campaigns on their behalf for a fee? I'd say be careful if this is the case as spam can be hugely damaging to a companies brand. Think of the type of SMS ads you get. They're nearly all for PPI claims and injury lawyers. Big companies wouldn't want to join this group.

    Something to consider is creating simple Android apps with the permission to use Google Air API service to push notifications to people's devices. Really easy to do with something like Andromo.

    Thanks for all your responses. To clarify, I want to begin by getting businesses to subscribe and use my SMS messaging platform (Currently which I do not have, which there seems to be a lot of (white labelling) on the market currently for resellers e.g Twilio). In terms of pricing I was thinking of subscribing to £X amount a month to receive X amount of texts every month. Anything over the amount of texts used a month will be priced on the amount of texts used (Pay as you go basis). This will enable hopefully a guaranteed minimum subscription amount per month per business e.g. (£40 p/m)

    Examples of commerce to sell to include, businesses buying and selling in vast volumes thus notifying customers of their delivery status /tracking number. I therefore would like to know the best provider(s) in the UK with best prices and platform used.

    Also are there any current laws/ specific requirements in the UK that need to be followed in order to comply.
