How to Get Affiliates to Sell My eBook?

Hi everyone,

I'm a complete newbie at internet marketing since I've spent much of my adult life as a freelance writer and virtual assistant.

I've finally decided to end the exploitation and start looking for alternative streams of income on the internet. I decided to use the fact millions of people struggle to figure out how to use Freelancer.com to earn money to make some money of my own.

I have written a comprehensive tutorial eBook with screenshots relating to how one can set up an account on Freelancer.com, how to find good projects to bid on, how to write proposals etc etc.

I was planning to sell it on Freelancer.com marketplace and on Clickbank through affiliates. However, I just saw that Clickbank needs you to have a website in order to sell your products there. Is there any where I can find affiliates who are willing to sell my product without a website?

This is slightly embarrassing but I don't know how to create a website!

This isn't correct. There's also a way of letting ClickBank host the whole thing for you, including the sales page itself. (You have to pay something for it, though.)

It may not be easy to attract good affiliates, who actually sell it successfully, without some sort of website, because you'll need an "affiliate page", at the very least? Not to mention a sales page?

Why don't you want to have a website?

(You know that you can have a website of your own without needing to pay anything at all, either for the site itself or for the hosting, right?).

You and a thousand other people, here. There are hundreds of free tutorials online about how to do that. Many people use WordPress, and "just learn" by following free online information?

What matters more than all of the above is that you need to have a proven sales process and system in place before trying to attract affiliates. You need to know that your sales page successfully sells the product to targeted traffic, otherwise you'll just attract affiliates and lose them all, when they discover that it doesn't. Don't imagine that "getting affiliates to sell it for you" means that you don't need to be able to sell it on your own first: it doesn't work that way.

Thank you so much for your thorough response!

I didn't want a website for two reasons:
    1. I don't have the time and skills to create one - but you are right, I can work on this.
    2. Clickbank says the website cannot be hosted on a free server and I don't really have any start-up capital

I was under the impression that one could just post a product on Clickbank, and that if it was decent enough, affiliates would pick it up and market it for you, and that Clickbank and the affiliates would just keep a share of the revenue.

i guess I need to do some more homework before I go ahead with releasing my product. Thanks again!

      Interesting.

I wonder how they tell whether their vendors who host their sales page at places like byethost.com (where sites belonging to some free and some paid accounts are hosted together on the same servers) are using "free hosting". I certainly wouldn't be able to tell. I suspect they're thinking more of places like Blogger, and perhaps using the words "free server" too loosely, if they say that?

You would need to pay ClickBank at least a product-listing fee, anyway, so that seems not to be suitable for you.

I think so. However you look at it, you need to know that your sales page converts targeted traffic before looking for affiliates.

As I see it affiliates shoudn't be your main strategy at first because most affiliates decide whether to promote your product based on some numbers - gravity, conversion rate, etc. You have to show them you have successful product first.

Abbs, to answer your original question mate. What you need to do is contact them and ask them if they would like to promote your product. Give them full access to it also.

Keep an excel sheet of when you contacted them and follow up after 4 days then move on.

But if you do require a website then I recommend that you hire someone to do it for you.

    Thanks

Why don't you give JVZoo a shot?

    • It's free to list a product,
    • They'll provide a sales page and host it for free (Instant Sales Page option)
    • They will store the zip file of the product for immediate delivery to your buyers for free.

JVZoo has plenty of affiliates. (I'll even promote it as well - just let me know by pm when you have it ready). Also, before you launch the product, you could sign up with Get Response and have your buyers automatically added to your list when they purchase.

Can't get much simpler than that. Eventually, however, you'll want to create your own sales pages on your own hosting account and have more control over things, generally. But this will give you a quick start until you are ready to make the switch.

      Hi Eljeffe77,

      Good question.

But I am thinking that maybe he will not be able to afford
the cost of having a website created from him.

And I am by no means suggesting that because he might be
from Pakistan that he does not have the money to spend on
having a website created from him.

      Just thinking out loud.

Also, Alexa Smith raised a very valid point, and that is...

<<<<"I wonder how they tell whether their vendors who host
their sales page at places like byethost.com (where sites
belonging to some free and some paid accounts are
hosted together on the same servers) are using "free hosting".
I certainly wouldn't be able to tell. I suspect they're thinking
more of places like Blogger, and perhaps using the words
"free server" too loosely, if they say that?>>>>

I, too, am a little bit concern about that practice, if in fact, such
      a practice exists.

But in any case, on that particular point, we have to agree that
a lot of reputable companies online are doing everything to be
as professional as possible in their presentations.

Hence, they might be doing everything now to ensure that what
they might consider to be "riffraff" websites are kept off their
systems: no free website hosting is acceptable.

Still, if I were Abbs, I would follow through on Joan Altz's
advice, and utilized the convenience of the JVZoo system, until
you can make better choices, if you so desire.

But you really cannot go "wrong" with using the JVZoo system.
That is what a lot of the "heavy hitters" IMERs are using quite
a bit. And it seem to be paying off "big time" for them.

It is my opinion that if you were to follow some of the advices
that are being offered to you in this forum, and on this particular
thread that you will probably find or see some initial results,
which will eventually bring you greater results: needed finances
      to be able to “pick-&-choose.”

Just my two-cents. All the very best, Abbs.

Thank you all so much for your replies

I looked into JVZoo - it looked great except it only allows payments through Paypal, which is not available in my country

I would have paid for a website to be made but unfortunately whatever money I earn from Freelancer.com goes into my college tuition

I looked at other websites such as ClickSure.com but they require significant upfront payments. I was hoping to pay a commission on each sale I made, since this is going to be a bonus income for me anyway.

I am thinking of posting the eBook on the Freelancer.com "freemarket" initially while I figure something out. If anyone is using any other website like ClickBank or JVZoo, please let me know so that I can find out if they suit my situation.

Alexa and Alodie,I saw this on the ClickBank website:
You cannot sell a product through ClickBank using a web page hosted on free sites
    (https://support.clickbank.com/entrie...-first-product)

Joan, thank you for your offer. I might get back to you if I manage to set something up. It'll take me a day or two to proofread and format the eBook

    All of you are amazing
