Enough! I'm at war with you scum affiliates

I place an ad on Craigslist for my friends local business and I get a rash of replies ..

I'm a student doing research. click on this link and fill it out for me.... BS!! It's a CPA offer and you are scum. I'm sure the vendor would love to know how you are getting leads and they will now.

or

I place an ad for a car for sale, or just about anything and get an email...

Hi there. do you still need help? I reply sure! , then get an automated messages with a link to another affiliate offer. All information and email forwarded to the vendor.

This blackhat underhanded BS needs to stop. All you are doing really is stealing money from the vendor, who then pulls the offer, lowers the payout, or adjusts things which affect and hurt legit affiliates. Why, because they get unqualified leads that fill out the offers based on false information and incentives.

The same people that pull this crap would scream bloody murder if they had a CPA offer and had affiliates sending in crap leads for which they are paying top dollar.

I can't stop them all, but I can slap the ones that make me mad.

Rant O The Day over.

I agree. I am on the fence with offering a CPL deal for some of my products because I know I will waste time trying to discover who is sending rubbish leads and filtering them.

    Hi,

I agree. Honestly, isn't this what most who sell "how to" do CPA are teaching, this and various other variations?

To me, totally whitehat CPA is so simple it doesn't need explanation. Just watch what skype and other big players do and copy them.

    Or am I missing something?

Well normally vendors catch this but there is a horrid underworld many do not know about and is not ethical.
I am sure many of the people posting such items are from another country who are out to make a quick dollar and vendors know about this. They will close out that persons account and not pay them however they are still gathering tons of information from these spam ads and they really don't care. Spammers fault? Or Vendors fault for not being harsh enough who knows? Issue is really nothing anyone's going to do about it its on of those gray areas few talk about.

I agree. I don't understand why some CPA allow incentive to get leads? The lead only filled out the offer NOT because he or she is interested in the product. They only want to get something for free.

Scott - I sure hope you are preaching to the choir. I always think of us Warriors as the good guys and that the evil-doers are somewhere "out there" ... call me naive, but that's my POV and I'm stickin' to it.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I placed an ad on craigslist for something and got swarmed with stupid spam All these offers click here for this, click here for that, nothing even close to what the original ad was even for. I guess some people just go to every post in craigslist to send spam Craigslist has turned into a really junky, trashy place. Guess there's too many guides out there teaching people to spam on craigslist or spam the real posters.

I hope everyday that these CPA/Affiliate companies get smart on double meta refresh script. I have read about posting on CL and using a double meta refresh script to hide the referring traffic.

Affiliate companies need to find a way to tackle this issues ASAP.

If only people had to do it manually, it wouldn't be so bad

There are tons of software that will go through all of craigslist and send a specified email to every single email address it finds. Even if your email is not in the post, it will simply respond to the goofy looking email address provided by CL. So, if you use CL in any capacity at all, there is a 100% chance that you are going to get spammed.

I totally agree with you and stand 100% behind your views.

It really displays the affiliate business in a bad light.

Good on you for reporting these freaks!

Thank you. I reported one today again. The poor advertiser has no idea what kind of crap exposure they are getting. Most people will think the advertiser IS the spammer because that's where they land after clicking.

The above is a VERY important point, most 9 - 5er's won't even realise it is a rogue affiliate doing this. They will think it's the vendor..

        Which is bad.

Kudos for reporting Scott!!.. It might only be a small action in a giant pit of ****e, but at least you're taking that action.

        Peace

Facebook Marketplace, I am telling you, it's going to bury CL before it's over with. Maybe even PayBay.

Could be, but they need to make it easier to find. When I'm looking on my facebook profile I can't see a link to it. I had to go to Google, search for Facebook Marketplace, then I found it.

These scam marketers have made Craigslist useless for people who want to use it for real ads. They are attempting to make Twitter useless for people who actually want to network with each other rather than shout about their scammy products. Everywhere they go, they take a big dump and wonder why they are so despised. They believe that any means is justified to make their living.
