You'll be glad to know you're already ahead of most here, marketing is only a part of an online (or offline) business. The best way here seems to be to try to use what you learn here to further your current business, as you already have something there to build on and work with. This seems like a better option than a wide net and trying lots of different, unrelated things.

This won't be easy, and certainly won't be fast. My second piece of advice would be to restrain yourself here, there are lots of people selling useful things to the market. But a lot of them might not be useful to you personally.

That said, perhaps you can use affiliate marketing to further the options in your online retail store?

I need to do this fast though, though we have income from our business, trends are unstable there and I do not feel comfortable relying on that income any longer.

  It is possible that you need to market the products you sell via online better. If you do not understand how to market online, then that could be one of the things you need to learn. Marketing online doesn't always mean spending a lot of money.
  
  Would your products lend themselves to selling through Amazon? Can you navigate the intricacies of eBay selling and come out on top? How about offering a specific line of products as fundraisers for schools and other groups, specifically geared to items that sell easily? Every bag or box of items sold could contain a flyer on the rest of your business with your brick and mortar address and url for your website. Do your in-store customers know you also have a website? Promote it.
  
  My last thoughts, at the moment, are maybe you need to diversify your retail offerings somewhat to be a bit different and more convenient than your competitors. Give your customers a reason to come to your place of business instead of the competition.

Sorry to hear about the difficulties you are having in your business. Kudos to you for seeking a better way. There are a million ways to earn a living passively but my advice to you would be to do a self inventory on what you enjoy doing and are good at, then look for a way to do that online. It could be an online store, as an affiliate marketer, as an info marketer. And then give yourself time to make that happen. Don't go jumping from project to project, by concentrate really hard on one good thing.

You know what, I really want to help you.

I don't know much about you. I really need more information about your interested and things. That will make you success.

I think you can try finding a coach for marketing. Search for a free marketing coach or something like that.

If you want passive income, work hard at least for a year.

Money does not come easily.

I am in the same position as well.

You can try finding some expert in tosby.

If you have a website you may consider doing some ppc (pay per click) ads. I say this because it can be fast money but, it needs to be done properly. Maybe someone here can give you some free coaching regarding that. Just be careful with any money you may decide to spend. Some people don't care about your position and will take your money and you will get nothing.

If you do decide to buy a "product" here. GO to the review section to see if there's anyone talking about it. I go there before I buy anything

You may need to work for at least a year to get some passive income without investment.

But if you want have some money to invest on ads, then you can make money faster.

First off, thank you very much to everyone who is reaching out both here and in PM. I greatly appreciate the good will and encouraging words. I hope to get through this crisis and return the good will some day soon.

As for working with people here, what is the best way to confirm who I should accept help from and who I should be careful of? Also, I don't mind sharing details about our business and what tools/resources we have access too but not out here in a public posting. I'm open to advice on the easiest way to communicate and collaborate with others here as I don't have a lot of experience doing that yet.

It is simpler then you think !
All it comes down to whether its online or offline ..
You must have something that your market wants and a reason why they should buy it from you over everyone else.

Start giving out more value .

Coupons and discounts the more they spend the more they save ..Everyone wants to save money and that is just an example off my the top of my head. I am sure you and your wife can put your heads together and come up with something answering those two questions above...

It depends what kind of business you want to get into and how fast you want to get establish in your niche or new niche. There is competition in almost every niche so its better to work with your competitors rather than setting up a business against them.
I simply means to let them do the hard work if you are ready to invest a bit.
