Bitly + Amazon Affiliate

How do you guys monetize through Facebook pages with having an Amazon Affiliate link? Do you just post the actual long URL? Do you use Bitly? Isn't that against TOS? Shortening links a no go?

I'm trying to think how can you promote your amazon affiliate link on your facebook fan page without getting banned, and if there's an alternative to linking without the long URL.

  • The answer is to not send them straight to Amazon. Build a blog with some decent writing and nice posts with affiliate links then link the blog on facebook. With URL shortening sites it's fairly easy to see where they go.

  • build a blog or a squidoo or hub pages with link to amazon product then promote on fb.
  • I would be shocked if it is against the TOS because George Takei does it all the time.

    But to be safe I would make a landing page.
  • As others have said direct linking is a BIG no-no. Amazon can and will ban for doing this. Take them to a web page that you own before you do your selling.
  • I signed up to for an online marketing coach, and told me that it's okay to link via bitly but it just didn't feel right.....

    Maybe creating squidoo pages will be okay. And I can shorten the links on squidoo?

    • The online marketing coach has no idea what he's talking about it seems.... you should get a new one and yes creating a landing page then bouncing to the Amazon page from there is fine.

  • I have my own URL softener on my own site, its better than bit.ly as far as tracking goes and not so obvious that i am redirecting customers.

  • I use my own url shortener also. There are several good WordPress plugins that will do the job, plus they will track clicks, etc. I promote amazon on my FB pages all of the time using it, and they haven't said anything yet. I don't see how a FB page would be any different than promoting from a hub page or squidoo.

    post on FB page is ok Provided is yours...with your website stated on your FB page.

    keep it simple ...

    like property ...You only can ad on those "properties" you own , control...

    is a No No ..if you post on those "properties not own by you..."
