Can you really make an income online?

That is my biggest question. Can you make an income? I have did the clickbank and other online business and yes you can make some money but can you make an income. Some of these programs have payment threshold that takes months to make. Are there any tips or tricks anyone can offer to make this a income? Or will it always be extra money?

If you put in the right amount of time, effort, and energy into it, yes you can. The reason many people don't really make an income from online sources is they treat it like a hobby or they have an 'instant millionaire' mindset.

This hopelessly naive and clueless 'instant millionaire' mindset is often exploited by 'turnkey' solutions or 'push button' solutions. When you mix laziness and cluelessness, you get frustration, despair, and, you guessed it, zero to low income. The reality is that making an online income takes WORK, DISCIPLINE, FOCUS, and SACRIFICE. Don't let anybody make you think otherwise. Chances are high that person is simply looking to separate you from your money.

I started as a sort of hobby, never thought to be making it a full time career

      @Lionelstyles

You can make income to live on from internet but as Writeaway mentioned you need to have work, discipline, focus and sacrifice
There is no shortcut to make an instant thousands of dollars.

I would suggest you to spend time on this forum.
Read as many posts as you can.
See what others are talking about and find an interesting niche for you.
Work hard on it with full dedication and committment. You will certainly make income if you put full efforts into it.

      Good Luck

You are absolutely right Writeaway, there is no substitute for focus and hard work to build your online business, the get rich quick mentality is bound to lead to failure

I would say there are many ways to make a full time income online. But building a list will be crucial if you want to make some extra money or if you want to get serious about this business.

    It's fairly simple really:
    1. Create a funnel where you promote products (your own or affiliate)
    2. Send targeted traffic to your funnel
    3. Test and tweak to make your funnel profitable.
    4. When it's profitable, scale the traffic.
    5. Rinse and repeat.

That's about it, if you can send targeted traffic to offers that convert then there's no limit to the amount you can make really.

Sure, but it DOES require work.

The first thing I recommend to do is buy a bunch of internet marketing books or a courses.

Not just ANY Internet Marketing book or course.

TIP: Use Amazon for the top courses and internet marketing books. Look at the product reviews for each book and how many of them there are. Read the reviews, and based on all this, come up with a conclusion on which books to buy.

When Looking for the Internet Marketing courses, What You Want is:

        - Books that are easy to understand
        - Books that are comprehensive.
        - Books that have links to other courses or resources

        - Books that are recent (remember, business is ALWAYS changing)

After you buy, I want you to read them. And actually APPLY what you are reading.

After that, I recommend going to Amazon or Ebay and getting the sales experience for selling things online.

Why? Because traffic is much easier to get. The thing is : Amazon and Ebay ALREADY have traffic, so if you spend money on a website that gets no traffic, you won't be making any money, and you won't be getting the experience or sales experience that you need to.

A lot of internet marketers started off with Ebay and Amazon, but now they have developed the skills to create their own website and make sales.

    Hi Lionelstyles,

love your username. As for your question you can indeed make money and enough to make a career out of it. This is something I have started only last month. Up until then I was only doing this part time. I would make some money here and there and it wasn't until I thought to myself Its time to really step it up so this is what I did.

I decided that for me to get some decent money, enough for me to quit my full time retail management job I would have to look at 2 different market sources. Why 2? Because 2 was enough so I didn't over stretch myself and compromised my standards also by having 2 forms of income would increase my chances of me earning better money.

My first method was acting as a middle man. I would look for people who outsourcing jobs and I would quote them a price, if they accept I would then outsource the job to someone who will do it cheaper. Obviously they would it cheaper and I will pocket the profit. Normally I would do the research on the person I employ and and ask for some examples of his previous work. It was important that I would turn the jobs over quickly as I wanted to build a reputation of someone who gets professional results fast. This generally makes me about $450 a month which relates to 10 jobs.

My other income comes from network marketing. My honest review that I did last month during my free 7 day trail has just been posted and can be found on the following link to this forumhttp://www.warriorforum.com/social-media/958132-honest-interest-review-my-internet-lifestyle-network-part-1-a.html. I have only been with this company for about a month and a half and I'm doing okay with it. I took about 3 days to complete all their training which I must say is amazing, it really wowed me and trust me its hard to wow me.LOL!!

I usually put in about 3 - 4 hours a day 6 days a week but I get pretty decent return for my hard work. Again its nothing to shout out about but I can collect anything from $280 - $320 a week but I reckon I have found a way to upscale it to almost double. Which is great because the company has incorporated a new commission and payment system, which basically means I will collect my weekly commissions on a weekly basis. The sky the limit. If you get time I would like to check out my review that I did on it a month ago. I only just posted it but it dates back to when I was taking part in the free 7 day trail.

One thing I didn't mention in the review is the fact they sell high ticket products which is basically holidays which I believe retails at $995 and for every sale you make earns you 50% commission. So you can really see why I said the sky the limit with the product.

Because I'm having some great success with my businesses, I'm currently looking to expand my empire into affiliate marketing. To be more precise, running my own Amazon a store. now I don't expect to make huge money with these guys as the commissions are pretty low. I believe the ball park figure is about 5% but throw in a few high ticket products and with a huge range all related to my profitable niche that took me a week decide upon, I should be looking around $280 - $400 a month to start off.

When I do have some spare time I like to help other people succeed with their businesses. I don't claim to know it all but I like to think I have a strong business head to know what works and what doesn't. All this I do for free because I enjoy it.

Anyway you probably had enough of me yapping on. Please lets hook up, I always look for an opportunity to increase my networking circle.

what do you think? Would you like any help?

    Owen

      Of course you can

But I'd rather the majority think you can't so there's little competition :p

Just kidding, but yes, you can, and not only make an 'income' but make a ludicrous amount of money. I'm talking millions. The more you hang around the industry, the more you realize, the sky is the limit with this stuff.

Good luck, and cure that skepticism and doubt with a lot of action.

an online website or business is good only if you already met the customer personally , or they have seen you on ebay or amazon , otherwise no one is going to stash money out of their pockets, on a bogus site they never seen before, in my point of view is more like a business card, nothing more ...

      You surely can...

Just depends on how you want to do it.

You also have to treat your IM business like a REAL business.

And you have to learn how to set up REAL systems such as marketing
funnels and learn how to increase conversions.

Making a few dollars online is not that hard, but earning a REAL deal income does take a whole lot of work...

Especially if you want live like the gurus in the industry.

It's not a scam, it can be done, you just have to be willing to put in the work.

It's all a mindset issue really. If you think you can, you will and if you think you can't, you won't. The reason is really simple. Once you think (and decide) you can make real income and quit your job, then you will start doing what it takes to make the income online.

On the other hand if you think all you can make is extra money, you will keep on doing what you are doing and will keep making extra money.

Just like in any other area of life, it requires different levels of efforts and commitment to get different results. The one thing you should get out of your head right now if you want to take the path to real income is the "tips and tricks" idea to earning an income online.

Just because you are doing business online does not mean all the other logical business-building principles are thrown out of the window. In fact, you need to apply business principles more rigorously online if you want to earn an income instead of just extra money.

For instance, you need a plan on how to earn your income. Its easy enough to earn extra money without a real plan, but to earn income, you need a roadmap that will guide all your efforts towards achieving that real income.

So a good question to ask yourself right now will be do I have a plan that will earn me income or extra money?

The fact that other people are already earning income and working online fulltime changes your question from "Is it possible to earn an income online" to "How do I earn an income online". Focus on this second question and you will soon start to realize you need to do much more than you currently are, and not just do more but do it differently.

    Good luck :-)

Yes it is possible. Anything is possible. So much depends on the individual. Your internet business needs to be treat as a business. if you worked for someone else but only worked 30 to 60 minutes a day would you make enough money to live on? Probably not.

It takes a certain personality that is willing to keep pushing though even in uncertainty. You are mostly on your own. It takes commitment, sacrifice, time, effort, long hours, hard work, proper mindset & focus.

Set goals. Commit to achieving them. It won't happen overnight but if you keep at it, you will see results. Oh and it does take money to make money.

I sell physical & digital products.

As stated, you have to spend your business hours wisely. You have to test marketing strategies and know that money may be a while away. There are exceptions, freelance writing for one if you can write articles every day. I think dropshipping is working for a number of peeps. eBay shops, biz ideas using those platforms. I help agencies with marketing for their clients and spend time writing for blogs.

Can you make an income online?

Well, that's a wide open question, isn't it? It speaks of generalities rather than specifics.

For example, can you land on the moon?

      Yes, you can.

      It's been done. Several times.

We have the technology. We have technology more advanced than we need to accomplish it. Your mobile phone probably has more computing power than the computers used to get us to the moon the first time around.

      We have computer power.

      We have fuel.

      We have rockets.

      We have landing craft.

      We have spacesuits.

      We have all the capabilities.

You have some of those capabilities yourself, in your own house, whether it's your cell phone or a package of dehydrated food. You have some of the tools necessary.

      You can do it.

      You can build a rocket.

      You can launch that rocket.

You can escape Earth's gravitational pull.

You can reach past Earth's atmosphere and into space.

You can make it to the moon.

You can land on the moon.

      Yes, you can!

      But, will you?

      Probably not.

      Sorry.

Making an online income though real but is not so easy. You need patience and consistent efforts to make it happen.
But above all you must choose a domain which you really love.
You should never go for get rich quick ways to generate online income; that is a total myth.
For me it took almost a year before I could make my first dollar online.
Simply be focussed and consistent with your efforts. In addition you need to be open to learn new things and regularly upgrade your knowledge and skills.
Nothing is impossible and making an online income is not really that difficult.

All you young people should not be worrying about money. The fact that you know how to use the internet gives you an edge and enables you to be in a position to provide a service to other people who don't know how to use the internet.

So if the thought of creating sales funnels seems daunting to you - then just provide technical services to those people who are technically challenged. There is truly enough work for everyone.

That is the quickest way to a consistent online income - in my humble opinion.

After you find a method that earns you at least a small profit, then simply scale it up as much as possible, as cheaply as possible. Use paid ads, outsource your work, PPC, etc. and scale up.

This is a method that I used to earn money online when I got started in this biz.

Find a way to scale that up cheaply and you will be good to go.

Truth be told there's no shortcut. If there's a threshold that you're struggling to touch, that's because you are not doing it right or consistently. However if you sell your own products, the threshold problem wouldn't be there, but its usually harder.

This very forum can teach you a lot. Read, analyze and take action. That might sound easy, but people usually don't pay attention to the "action" part. Just asking here isn't going to solve your problem. You have to find out what you love to do most (online) and then find buyers for that.

It's a legit question: can you make money online?

I hear it all the time. Let me tell you from my experience where I struggled for about 8 months, didn't make a dime, just spend tons of money I didn't have at the time, but then I came out of it and built a real online business. What I realized now that I make a full time living online from my home in Montreal is that this isn't a hobby. It's a business. If you treat it like you have invested $100,000 into a store in your hometown, then you will succeed at online business. But you have to have the will to take action, fail, and keep taking action because there are hurdles at first, but as you overcome them challenges become smaller and smaller, and you will realize how small the barrier to entry is for Internet business.

So my answer is Yes, you can make money online. But the real question is how bad do you want to?

  • I can vouch for being ready to fail, many times. I feel like I've done nothing but fail but those failures taught me something valuable each time. I would say find something you are comfortable with, that fits your personality, and focus on that. Fail and fail again until you accidentally succeed. That's what I am doing. It is entirely possible to make an income online as many others have proven.

Surprised these threads stay up. Seems it's asked every single day. Least two in the main forum right now.

Thats why you should stick to things you love and know, but more of the love side. Because if it was so easy, than everyone would be self employed. We are risk takers. Have a plan A, plan B, and plan C for yourself, that includes marketing strategies. Not just a one time adwords or facebook campaign and than call it a day.

Its a tough road but with its freedom and rewards. Stay the course and keep it at

These replies are hitting it right on the money. I've been out of the corporate cubicle and been self-employed for over 10 years. It's been a major battle overall, but so rewarding. But then there's a price for Freedom.

Most people consider a side business as their "hobby", a thing to poke at here and there. From my experience, it's best to pick a direction and dive in, give it your 150%. My recommendations:

1, Build a large war chest first
      2. Get debt free, and wait till the kids are outta the house and off your payroll
      3. Make sure all ex wives, divorces, etc are settled and paid off...
4, Have business plan A, B, and maybe C in place
      5. Don't burn bridges, as you may have to do some corporate consulting here and there to make ends meet.

      Cheers!

Yes I think it is for the long term - think of it at first as a second income. Don't give up your main job if you have one. Think about discovering secrets of those who have been successful.
