But to speak serious....I use WSO's here and also Themify - Drag & Drop WordPress Themes which has cool drg and drop themes you can basically customize at will.

It can be quite risky grabbing free themes from online... (Do a Google search for "problems with free wordpress themes" and do some reading...) Just get Atahualpa or Suffusion - and learn how to use them, and you can build any sort of site you want.

Or, you can fork over the money and get Genesis or Thesis. It's not by accident that so many professional bloggers use one or the other.

Absolutely true. About 90% of the compromised WordPress installations we encounter are caused by either embedded base64 code hidden in the theme or rogue shell scripts hidden in image folders, etc.

If you're going to use a free theme, it's definitely a good idea to look it through thoroughly to make sure there isn't something lurking.

Plenty of professional and inexpensive themes to choose from.

You should be able to find something there.

I use My Theme Shop at http://mythemeshop.com

Some really great themes there. They have some really good Free Themes as well as paid for themes at a reasonable price. I'm using both free and paid, whatever suits my needs and their support is hands down amazing. Any question about modifying a theme (within reason) and they are quick to respond on their forum.

And yes, you can find great modern responsive themes at themeforest. One of my favorite is UDesign.

and here I always thought 2 things which Internet will never fell short of - Porn and Wordpress Themes

If you are not able to find good theme on wp.org, you can search at Free WordPress Themes at WordPress.com, I can see plenty of 3 column themes. You of course can easily customize them in 10 mins which often works better instead of keeps searching.

Elegant Themes have a nice library of themes you can work with out of the box or make some adjustments to it yourself if you know how. It's a one time payment only and you'll get future themes for free too.

I buy from themeforest, make sure you find theme which is well supported by developer and not from new developer to ensure you will get long term support for the theme.

It's better to purchase a theme club membership, if you plan to use the themes on more than one website.
For example, you can purchase 80+ themes from Elegant Themes for $89, but you can purchase only 2 WP themes from ThemeForest.

I've always had trouble with Elegant Themes...but they are beautiful when they work.

I have, however, had good experiences with some of the top rated Themeforest themes. Provided you know Wordpress well, you can really customize them and make them your own. Otherwise, like many others have suggested, Genesis is a strong foundation to work from.
