I need a Mentor - if anyone is brave enough

I don't really know where to start and if anyone needs a warning - this could be a long post, so don't waste your time reading it unless, like me, you are completely and utterly at a loss as to what to do next.

You have been warned

Many moons ago I bought into an SFI program (which I only found out the other day is still going very strong). I did what I thought was right at the time (we are talking about 7-8 years ago) but I never made a single penny out of it. Having read an awful lot of info on here recently about SFI (or related programs) I think that I maybe just didn't "get it" at the time so missed a big opportunity.

I have recently bought into two programs, Guru Assasin and Money Syphon and I (personally) love the way that Jonny Andrews delivers the info (maybe waffles a bit at times, but I can cope with that). Anyway, as much as I take on board what he is saying, think I am understanding it, want to implement it etc. etc. one thing gets in the way - ME.

I think I have exceeded my download limit for this month (it's never happened before and shows just how much info of Jonny's I have downloaded - I am on a Virgin Dongle here in Menorca - and it is the best thing I have found to date).

I think I have listened and watched/read, virtually everything in these two programs but it never seems to stop, there are always more links to go and read about this, and then that, and then more links within this and that, to go and watch even more info or this and then that - aghhhh. And then this forum (which I love, but am now hooked on the backlink thread).

Please, Jonny, if you are reading this, don't think this is a criticism - it isn't - I love your stuff it just seems that I am incapable of deciding on a course of action and then working through it, without getting diverted by yet more things I could be doing.

I thought I was getting the jist of it and decided on a niche market, one which I was interested in and which I could identify with, and then BOOM, out of nowhere came the realisation that I already had 3 websites and that I should possibly be doing something to utilise what I already had.

The three websites I have are completely different to each other - more by cirumstance then anything. One is a site which advertises local businesses, within a local area in the UK and brings in a monthly income, one is just a "nice site" (it's a long story but I love doing it) and which brings in money now and then but unfortantely doesn't always cover the hosting fees, and the last one is related to what we are doing here in Menorca (pool, garden and property maintenance)- and doesn't bring in anything.

My initial thoughts were to go down the route of affiliate marketing with party accessories (already bought a domain name) which could link in with the "nice" site I currently own and then I started doing keyword searching on East Yorkshire (my paying site) and Menorca (our non-paying site) and then I went and filled up my glass with more wine - thank God it's cheap over here

Then I started really getting into the thread about backlinks and article writing and then BOOM - overload.

I have always worked really hard, at whatever job I have been given, and won't give up - I always believe there is a solution to a problem, and usually I find it, which is what is frustrating me so much at the moment - I need to make some money, is the bottom line, and I seem (in my mind) to have arrived at Spaghetti Junction).

If anyone has managed to get this far and can offer anything in the way of support, advice, ideas, suggestions - you name it. I think that what I really need is someone to provide me with a very clear plan of step by step things to do - will anyone do that?

Is there anyone out there brave enough to mentor me?

    Sue-
I hope you find the person you're looking for. I started investigating making money online in 2005, and just in the last 3 months have settled on a plan. I agree, there is a lot of information out there, and most of it distracts.

Hi Valorie - just read all your posts on your site - crikey, I can identify with all of that. The one thing I am certain of is that I will make it - I just need someone out there to help me focus on what I should be doing now, tomorrow, the next day .....

    Hi Sue,

I have a personal mentor who got me up and running within a few weeks of working with him, and I am starting to make money too.

If you want to know more please PM me as I am not sure if I am allowed to post his details in this setting?

Oh, there is a cost, but let me tell you it is reasonable and it works if you do!

I hope this might help you or Sue

    Hi Ian

Unfortunately I don't think I have enough posts yet to be able to IM anyone. Not sure which is the best way - you can email me at menorcsue @ yahoo.com (without the spaces) unless you have any other ideas?

My 2 cents for what's it worth...

The key to success with Internet Marketing (and really anything in life) is focus. The one thing that has helped me focus more than any other is Ed Dale's 30 Day Challenge. Maybe you've heard of it.

The idea is to take a complete newbie and help them make their first dollar online. Obviously, you're not a complete beginner. Neither was I when I went through the 30 Day Challenge. What was so pivotal for me though was the focus it helped me achieve.

The good news in all of this is it's 100% free. No strings attached. What they call "Pre-Season" is just getting underway (where they go over some basics like Twitter which will be used during the actual 30 Day Challenge) and the Season begins in August (the first maybe?)

I will be going through this years challenge as well, and hope to see you over there. Since I don't have enough posts for posting links, just Google "Ed Dale's 30 Day Challenge". The site is thirtydaychallenge dot com.

If you need a mentor, which we all, Ed is a great one!

    Best of luck to you!

    Hello Sue,

If you're still into SFI, I know some people who are consistently
showing up on the SFI board who can help you.

    Check it out here:

      Sue,

The 30 Day Challenge suggestion is a good one. Ed Dale is very good at what he does, and gives away a lot of good info taking people through a step by step process.

Here's another suggestion. Do you speak/write fluent Spanish?

If so, why not offer to translate materials as a JV with some top marketers. You do the translation, and split the profits with them.

That way you can just copy what they are doing and learn it as you go.

If you have any other particular skills, try and find out how those can be put to best use.

Most marketers have lousy support (at best) if they have any at all. I believe someone could make decent money just handling support requests for several marketers for a monthly fee. Another good way to learn by doing. If you can add the Spanish angle, even better.

I took the 30-Day Challenge last year and it was great. I was able to complete a website and get it up and running. It took me 4 to 5 months to make my first dollar instead of 30 days but nevertheless, I made that first dollar. My website floats between #2 to #10 on the first page of Google. I have had some days at #1 but that did not last very long. It's still a work in progress but that success keeps me motivated.

On a personal note, I was thinking I was crazy because I had the same problem with focus. I can be writing an article and then end up on several different websites while I am trying to research just clicking around and looking at stuff. My brain just goes off into all the different possibilities and I end up getting nothing done. I think it would be worth it to do a check list. Write the steps it takes to get a particular thing done and check it off. This way you can visually see how far you have gotten and where you are going. Visual aides are something you probably need. I personally have found when I have that, I can stay on task better.

Thank you all for your replies and encouragement. The 30 day challenge sounds right up my street and is something I will look at today - once the coffee has kicked in

The level of support and willingness to give it, in this forum, is amazing.

    Sue

PS thmark - sorry forgot to add, I can barely string half a dozen words together in Spanish - another thing on my "to do" list
