"100% money back guarantee" - no refund

by Batte

What to do if someone offers a 100% money back guarantee and refuses to pay back your money?

After I asked for a refund he changed his thread and deleted the "100% money back guarantee".

Has anyone had a similar problem before? How to solve it?

Best regards,

You could always take a screen shot of the https://archive.org/web/ page that might have the original content on there. Maybe holding them accountable with some evidence can get you leverage so that they will do what is right.

Most folks just initiate a chargeback on the card they used to purchase however.

Thanks, already tried that without success... I didn't pay with my credit card but with Paypal so no luck there...

I'll just start a dispute with Paypal and hope for the best I guess.

      Thanks for the advice!

Yup, dispute time. If he doesn't decide to refund when he sees the dispute, Paypal will take care of you.

Unfortunately, Paypal won't side with you if the product is digital. The only thing you can do is threaten to leave negative reviews on websites such as RipoffReport.com and Scam.com. Unless, of course, the product is sold through a website like Clickbank. If that's the case, all you have to do is contact Clickbank and get a refund through them.

If it was an ad on this forum, click on the little red triangle at the bottom of the post and report it to the mods telling them exactly what happened.

No I have never had that happen to me but if it did I would contact the payment method I used and tell them my problem I am having with my purchase.

Are you returning this product because your one of those people that do that no matter what even if you like the product or are you asking for your money back for a good reason?

Why do you want your money back is the key to answering this question and will put more light on the subject..?

But if someone offers an 100% money back unless there are terms to that it's kinda straight forward and should give you your money back.
So how much is the product and why do you want your money back?.

Well if you payed through Paypal there won't be a problem. I think, even without the cached site as evidence. I have had a couple disputes over the years as a buyer and always been paid back when paypal is involved.

The seller just sent me this email:

      Hi Bart,

      It is forthcoming.
You will have it within a few days.

      Thanks,

I'm going to wait to start a dispute/report him until I'm sure he won't make a refund. I think it would do more harm than good to start reporting right away.

The sale was made 3 june 2014, I've sent my first e-mail to ask for a refund 9 june 2014. Do you think he wants to wait until 3 july so I can't make a dispute in Paypal?

      Best regards

It is really bad when some sellers do these kind of things to buyers. They should clear everyhting on the sales page straigt forward.

Just report the thread to the admin. They will look at it. They can know if the thread has been edited or not. If you are right than they can take action against the seller.

Just make a try. Hope this will solve your problem..

Next time when you buy something read the service page carefully. Make a clear disscussion with the seller about your doubts than place your order. Keep yourself safe.

          Good luck.

Batte, report it right away as far as this forum goes. If what you say is true this person might be doing it to others.

We need to know the details, please use the report message or report post button to get the process started.

I cannot help you with any Paypal questions since we have nothing to do with that. But I do urge you to report this person to the WSO moderator(s) by using the process that's already in place.

      No they don't.

In digital purchases they almost always side with the seller.

You will struggle to win a dispute over a digital product as the buyer... UNLESS you have some pretty compelling evidence to show them. Unfortunately your word against there's will never be enough.

This is not my experience. Excessive hype in sales letter, "lies" is enough. If something is promised that is not true. For me it was a product promising "unique-enough" content, which was not true. Not a problem at all to get a refund when PP got involved. Since this is about a money-back-guarantee that was deleted. Just get the cached site and you will definitely not have an issue to get a refund with paypal.

I have found this to be true some of the time. Other times the pressure from the dispute alone convinces the seller to refund.

It is one kind of cheating. Money back guaranty that means money is refundable. If one told money back guaranty then when you claim the he refuse to refund. It is a great cheating. He should be punished.

Why not give your products/services away for free then and ask if they want to pay after?

I've never known other businesses to basically beg so much for some small amount of cash! Why is that? Skint?

Wow guys, thanks for the massive feedback. I didn't answer before because I had a job interview today, couldn't make it to the WF I will reply you guys one by one (also the PMs).

Let's be clear about the product: it wasn't as great as I expected and as was told in the sales letter. It simply has no use for me. I won't post the link here because I still hope the seller will be honest and I don't want to make him the bad guy for nothing.

It's my first refund and I bought 25+ WF products so I can really say I'm not that kind of guy to ask refunds randomly, not at all.

Motivation for a promised/guaranteed refund is moot.

You should use the little red triangle and report the listing in question to a mod. Not honoring refund policies here is not tolerated and he will not be able to sell if he does that.

To find cached sites, there are several ways to go. You could use Internet Archive: Wayback Machine , or just google "cached pages" or something, and look for an option that suits your needs. Depending on your browser you could even use your browsers cache. It depends on your situation and what tools you are using/have used.

Difficult to get more specific than this without writing a book on the subject since I don't know enough about your specific situation

Report the seller using the "red triangle" button. People like this seller you are talking about will give warrior forum a bad name. Sellers like this should not be in existence.

I agree about the paypal thing, you most probably won't get your money back from this as it's a digital product.

Just report it and move on i guess. I'm sure if it's here on the forum that would be the end of his selling carreer here if you can provide some proof he really offered a money back guarantee....

Honestly its the customers responsibility. If you rely on the seller's ''100% money back guarantee'' you put your own money at risk. Next time try to research the seller or find someone that has had success with him/her before paying anything.

Curious to know how much the amount was. I realize some people will argue "it's the principle" but there is also the issue of how much time you have to spend dealing with it. Sometimes it's cheaper to take the hit, learn the lesson, and handle things differently the next time around.

There's not much you can do at the end of the day if it was an intangible item and you didn't pay with credit card. Paypal doesn't offer refunds on intangible items like ebooks and downloads etc.
