What is an "Email Drop"?

I just heard about some traffic technique called an email drop. The guy didn't say much, but he claimed it was a great source of traffic.

I've googled it but Google seems to indicate that it's either a synonym for "email sending service" or its the same as a "solo ad".

What is it and what do you know about them? Where can I find a good place to do email drops?

A email drop is when someone that has an email list offers to send that list out an email.
They offer to do a drop ...

When most people refer to an "e-mail drop" they're referring to paying a big publication for an endorsed e-mail promotion. It "can" be a solo-ad in a sense. I've done many e-mail drops with publications like Arcamax, etc... The format for this e-mail was a "top sponsor" ad... So it wasn't a solo-ad. There were other ads included in the middle and end of the promo they sent out for me.

Could be many things no? Solo ad, newsletter, safelists, spam. Who knows. Seems best route would be to ask the person who said it. If that is possible. Least find out for sure what they mean by it.
