How I have got my first Amazon Sell

Hi, I didn't promote amazon product before. 7 week ago I signed up in Amazon affiliate.. I selected a product and did keyword research about it..Then I found a great keyword which searches 1600+ times month in USA and No blog is using that as a main keyword.

I created a post with that keyword and posted in one of my blog. I started to do hardcore SEO
for that post and have got ranked in google's 1st page .. great.

Today I have got 2 sells from that post.. That's product price was 69. and I got $2.70 only for per sell!! What the hell! Only $2.70 for per sell..

AMazon... I am not going to do such hard work for amazon product again..

I am trying to sign up in eBay affiliate but they are refusing me everytime.. Can anyone tell me how will I get approved in eBay Affiliate..

Amazon gives you 4% at the start I think and gradually rises to 8%? Thats only if you have a lot of sales in one month.

Well you can always search for more products and keywords and expand your income! Maybe once you have more traffic the sales will increase too.

    DONT GIVE UP!

You are at it for only 7 weeks and you are calling it quits ? Your new at this and it took 7 weeks for a sale. Big Deal.... Some people work for months and get nothing. Are you building a list with the traffic coming to your site ? If you jump from Amazon to e-bay to several other affiliate programs you are never going to go far. Your site is just starting to get traffic but your impatience is going to cost you in the long run. Not trying to be harsh but give it time to grow.

First of all check to make sure you are using exact searches and not broad and that all of your links work.

How high up are you on the first page? The first couple results get the click thrus.
Add Statcounter.com (free tool) to your website and look to see how many people are visiting your site and what they are doing when they visit that page. If people are clicking away quickly you know you need to write a better converting review.
Look at your stats in Amazon and see how many people clicked thru and did not buy. You can see this in the drop down box under your sales. This will help you with a plan of action for results.

Why not target multiple long tail keywords with low competition with either one blog or multiple blogs? Even if you only earned $2.00 per month from each keyword targeted, you would still have substantial earnings if you had 100 or more keywords targeted. That would take more work, so you would have to decide it were the right thing for you.

You should always know what you're getting paid before you go to work; otherwise, you can get the result of feeling like you're getting paid slave wages.

You don't work for Amazon. You have your own business (your blog) and you chose to market and Amazon product.

Fact of the matter is, you put in work and you got a positive result.

That means, you just do what you've already done again...but this time, choose a product that's going to pay off (the way you want it to) when a sale is made.

If you're expecting big commissions, then you shouldn't be selling as an Amazon affiliate, or really any physical products at all. You should be looking into digital products like ebooks, online courses, etc.

That said, Amazon is one of the best sites to affiliate for physical goods because of how their link works. You just need to send someone to Amazon and anything they buy within a period of time will be credited to you - even if it's for something totally different than what you were promoting.

Also, the more you sell for Amazon in a particular month, the more commission you make. This isn't just for sales after X item, but everything you've sold for that month.

You've made 2 sales in 7 weeks? I would say you're already getting results many won't ever see. You're definitely doing something right. Keep working on it, you're doing good.

I do no SEO, not even bookmark my posts and making $2000+ every month for last 6 months.

    "Promote $200+ products"

For example I have a product that I only sell 2 or 3 of it every month but it is about $2000, it is not electronics so my commission rate is %7 for that item, everytime I sell one I get $140. I think it is enough, since I wrote that post 7 months ago in ten minutes and do not work on backlinks etc.

It is a bit unrealistic to look for a %50 commission in a physical product.

While Amazon's rates are lower they are a very trusted website so it can be much easier to get sales. Chances are that the amount of Amazon sales will be a lot more than if you tried to promote an affiliate product. Plus, you will also get commissions on anything else they purchase at Amazon (while they still have your cookie), which happens quite frequently.

I wouldn't give up. Just keep increasing your traffic.

Affiliate marketing is not a "get rich quickly" program. It also demands special dedications. The famous saying "the Harder You Work, the luckier You Become" is not always true with affiliate marketing. Follow this principle: "The Smarter You Work, the Richer You Become".

Can someone tell me how one can promote a Amzon product in an article and get paid by amazon? As far as I know, the product link should be on a web site and not in an article, a blog post or an email.

  • Welcome to the world of Amazon. They only give you 4% commission on your first 7 items per month. After the first 7, its 6% up to your next 22 items or something like that. You have to sell hundreds to get to 8%, and it resets every month back to 4%.

But there are hundreds of other affiliate programs that will pay you more. Places like Best Buy, Guitar Center, The Vitamin Shoppe, etc...all have affiliate programs. You can find them on Commission Junction for example, and what percentage the merchant pays.

I used to sell from Amazon, and I liked it, but I got tired of the tiny commissions since I could not sell hundreds of products. I sold a couple $5,000 TVs for $200 commission. Now I only focus on high-ticket affiliate products because I do the same amount of work but get 90% of the commissions. You might want to do the same thing, it sounds like.

I totally agree. It tends to take the same effort to target small or BIG. In fact, oftentimes it's even more stressful targeting small where you realize you put in all the work for mere peanuts. I stopped dealing with Amazon a long time ago once I saw the low commission rates. I know that it's a popular site and some people can get fortunate and do big volume and all - put if you're savvy you can earn so much more commissions from other programs - or even your own products. Don't sell yourself short making Amazon rich!

You really need to keep going! Of course it was hard work but 7 weeks is a very short time and being on page one is great. The great thing about Amazon is you'll get credit for everything that person buys within the 24 hr cookie. The more you promote and expand upon your niche the more of this you will see and it really adds up! Also, with only a few sales within the month, you are only at 4% or so. With just a few more sales your commissions will jump to 6%.

As far as Ebay (EPN), it's not as good as it used to be. They have shortened the auction length from 7 days to 24 hours, which is pretty much insane considering most auctions run 7 days! Also, there's no accumulitive payout like Amazon. It's only on that one click/Customer purchase. Their payout is different, it's based on a percentage of their PROFIT, not the total sale, so while 50 or 60 percent sounds high, it can be deceptive at first glance. If i were in your shoes I would stick to Amazon for now. Give it at least until the Christmas season is over before giving up! Good Luck!

Take what you learned ranking that one page and one item and repeat it across multiple items and you'll eventually start making more money. It adds up over time and you'll eventually start to make more than a couple bucks. The Amazon Affiliate program won't earn you big bucks per sale unless you're selling high-ticket items. If you're selling lower-priced items, it's all about volume.

Here's the thing: It takes just as much work to market a $70 product as it does to market a $2,000 product.

There is an audience for every bracket, so why focus on the cheaper product when you can aim higher while potentially performing the same amount of work?

Just picture your blog with several, $2,000 items ranking highly on the search engines......

This is just a little bit oversimplified.

It may technically sometimes be true, but they're typically different people. There are fewer potential customers around for the $2,000 product, and most of the time you've had to build a relationship with them and sell them something for $70 and something for $500 before you can sell them the $2,000 product, too.

Originally Posted by Elvis Michael View Post

There is. But they're not necessarily equally easily attracted and retained. And if you're successfully selling many $2,000 items, you know that as well as I do.

Do you really imagine that many successful Amazon affiliates are selling many $2,000 items by "ranking their blog highly in search engines"? Not on this planet ...
