Hey everyone,

I have a Joomla website that loads really slow so I decided to remake the entire website but now using Wordpress. I've got it all installed on a subdomain and it looks great. About 70% of all the URL's have changed and most images have been renamed or have been entirely deleted. I am planning on launching the new site somewhere next week but I want to minimize my traffic loss. I would like to ask you guys for tips, what can I do to make sure the transition goes as smooth as possible with as little traffic loss as possible? I have already made a list of around 100 redirections (301).

Thanks in advance!

If you migrated the old articles from joomla to the new wordpress site, you must have kept the same urls, i guess joomla also use friendly urls. I assume that they cannot be the same but you can first make them look pretty much the same in wordpress. When you add a post or page, you can change the shortlink of that post. Make it look like it was called on joomla. For example if your joomla url is site.com/somebullshitnumber/somebullshitcategory/real-post-name , in wordpress you should edit it to look like 'real-post-name'. Then you should customize your htaccess in wordpress that all who go to urls like ^real-post-name^ to go to your site.com/real-post-name ( as it is now the exact url in wordpress ).
