How to promote my Book on Amazon?

Hi there,

I have recently got my new book up and running with Amazon. Nice description, attractive cover ... wow, it should just fly of the virtual shelves It's early days I know but I would like to know how writers and authors promote their books ? I figure that just having it on Amazon is not necessarily enough to get tons of sales. Do you do extra advertising, PPC on Google/Yahoo to the Amazon site? Or an extra website that describes the book and a link to Amazon? Or is there a chance to buy a featured book ad or something to appear on the first page on Amazon ?

Looking forward to some ideas

Cheers
Tom

You need to give your book to people, and, in exchange, have them write reviews. Reviews always help. You could also try another book selling platform. My two sense!

Make a Facebook page for your book. It might not seem like much help, but it really is. Place there, or better on a blog/site some fragments of your book, to give a preview. Share all these on the FB page, along with daily nice quotes and pictures and all that could be shared in order to gain and engage the audience. After you get more and more fans you will see that almost some of them will buy your book. This is the easiest and cheapest way, for the start. Best of luck!

Lots of ways. Some of them:

      1. Run a KDP Select promotion, i.e. a free giveaway or a discount.
      2. Post your book in this thread if running a giveaway. Also post it at popular sites like KBoards and MobileRead.
      3. Run a Google search for sites that will promote your book for free to their Twitter followers/Fan pages/blog readers.
      4. Many of those same sites, and others, will offer paid promotions. Some can be well worth the money. Again, a Google search will bring up some case studies showing the results authors had using these services.
      5. Look at Fiverr for well-rated, well-used Kindle promotion gigs.
      6. Consider signing up for the Warrior Book Club. You'll get support from fellow authors there, as well as greater opportunity to promote your book and garner some reviews.
      7. This threads in to point 3, but do set up a Twitter account for your author avatar and start following the followers of authors in similar niches, as well as Kindle promo accounts.

That should get you started! You'll quickly see the learning curve. The first book is always a bit of a mess. By the time you're doing your third book, you should be a pro at launching.

Give review copies to people and get tons of review written, atleast 100+ to overwhelm yourself with sales

Also fb, twitter, pinterest, youtube, stumbleupon are few other places to promote the ebook

    KDP Traffic

7 fundamental elements to building KDP traffic:

    1. Price
    2. Blurb
    3. Reviews
    4. Page Count
    5. Cover Design
    6. Quality of Writing
    7. Traffic Platforms

Regarding (7): Treat your book, your product, like any other product or service you wish to promote online.

5 Platforms currently sending me the most traffic to my books:

    1. FB Fan Pages
    2. G+ Fan Page
    3. YT
    4. List
    5. Author Website

I'm actually a novelist and screenwriter when not being GRM and I do KDP for kicks. Everyone has to have a hobby!
