1.Do you need a website to make money, and if so does it to have alot of visitors?
2.Do you need to own a domain and host it yourself or can you put affiliate links on a free blog?

    Hi,

There are countless ways to make money and some methods require you to have
    a website and some don't.

My advice would be to look at getting some training that shows you how to build
    your email list of subscribers.

I always say to my students that it takes work to make anything work online
so you're far better off putting that time into building a list.

If you can add just 5, 10, 15, 20 subscribers into your business every single
day then pretty soon you'll own a very powerful and profitable asset that gives
you lots of leverage and room for consistent sales for your business.

You could even allow your email auto responder to host your lead capture page
for you and promote an affiliate offer right off the bat.

This way you'll be building your lists and making some sales WITHOUT NEEDING
    A WEBSITE OF YOUR OWN!

    Pretty cool eh?

    Okay all the best,
    Gavin

You'll find the consensus here is to build a list. I would start your training by learning the many ways to build your email list. As the previous poster said. Once you have a decent list you can start selling to them and do ad swaps with other list owners to grow it even more. Having your own website give you a lot more control but it's possible with a free blog. Then again if your not familiar with building a website it would take some time for that as well. There are some Wordpress gurus on this forum and you will probably find that, if you decide to build a site, that Wordpress is the easist to learn. At least it was for me. To build your list give away a free ebook or something like that in exchange for them signing up. Then you have to find ways to get traffic to your site in the first place. There's a lot of great info and people on this forum that can help, your in the right place.

As someone who is looking at setting up some kind of a business online I know it can be very confusing to begin with. What you should do is have a think about what you really want to do - if you want a sustainable long term business then owning a website is a logical choice, you can either buy something already established on sites like flippa.com -or you can learn how to make a site -WordPress is a good choice. Understand something very quickly, you will have to learn new skills and put effort into it- don't be duped by 'fast results' , 'no effort required' solutions - you want to work in a niche, be an affiliate product seller, create your own information products, create a web store selling products, sell on Amazon, eBay, write 'how to' ebooks....there are a lot of options!

    1. If you're a techie, and are familiar with site building, then go ahead and build a site.
    2. Otherwise, don't bother. Use Blogger, Wordpress.com, Hubpages or Squidoo - all ready-to-use blog platforms.
    3. Promote affiliate products on your posts and sidebar. But always check each platform's rules about using affiliate links.
    4. Focus most of your efforts on learning to drive traffic. That is where most people get stuck. No traffic - no sales - no money.
    5. Build a list. That's the foundation for a robust, scalable IM business.

Making money online is simple, but not easy.

It takes hard work of course and as probably an employee working for someone else's dream we already know what work is.

I would focus on getting into a niche that will always have market. Ask yourself what the market is looking for? Ask yourself again what you are looking for?

If you answered how to make money online, think of how many million people are trying to do the same.

This should help you think outside the box a little as making money online niche is as green as the amazon forest

Now you will need basic fundamental tools for list building like your site, autoresponder, squeezpage creator, products affiliates etc.

You should get a mentor and find one that has proof and plenty of testimonials.
Copy his success as a true leader will always gladly to give you value and all of his knowledge

This will save you time from yours and his mistakes and faster to setup a system that works for him and his students.

Then you will just have to have guts to keep workin and push through frustrations of learning and you should make your profits sooner than later.

You certainly don't NEED one, but if you do - the more visitors you have the better. This question is pretty vague in all honest - but yes you'll find it's easier to make MORE money online if you've got your own website built and generating traffic.

Again, along with my first answer- while you CAN make money having aff links on a free blog, you'll appear much more credible if you've got your own website.

For example, would you feel better visiting
    www.DogTraining.com

    OR

    www.dogtraining.wordpress.com

Having your own domain just makes you LOOK better and more credible.

And THIS is just getting into FREE means of marketing, we're not even touching on paid stuff (which you should probably wait on until you master the basics)

Hope this clarifies things a bit

EƤrendil personally, I would have asked "Get Started In What?".

    - What exactly are you trying to achieve?
    - What niche do you have a passion for?
    - What kind of budget do you have?

Don't go in blindfolded, otherwise you'll get caught up in anything and everything and you could end up going nowhere. Be a little more specific and I'm sure you'll be able to get some answers that can help you get on the right track

"Do you need a website to make money"

No. You could get a job and earn a paycheck Seriously tho...

If you want to make money online, you can get started doing what is commonly known as 'Affiliate Marketing'.

I don't setup a website or any lead capture funnel until I know a product converts and converts consistently - meaning, that product's sales page is making sales.

If a product's sales page is unable to make sales from what little traffic I send to it, it is not going to make sales when I send lots of traffic to it.

Traffic is key and you can spend a lot of money and time sending traffic so before anything else, test on a small scale first. But before traffic, you need a product that is known to sell and sell well.

If you are interested in affiliate marketing, JVZoo pays instantly to your PayPal account and signing up and getting started is super easy. It is a great place to start before heading into more advanced affiliate providers and then you can focus on learning the basics of driving buyer traffic - not dirt traffic - but buyer traffic.

"2.Do you need to own a domain and host it yourself or can you put affiliate links on a free blog?"

Many free blog hosts do not allow affiliate links or, at least not a lot of them. You have to be very careful here. This is where owning your own website comes in handy. You own it.

If you host on a 'free' site, they can shut you down at any time for any reason whatsoever. So if you've invested time in growing that blog on a 'free' platform, just understand you risk losing it at anytime and it is completely beyond your control.

You will hear a lot about sales funnels. There is no 1 sales funnel that fits every business model. I don't have an email funnel for my main business - but I do have a very exclusive sales funnel that I take existing customers through - but they are ones that I have pre-approved to do business with me. I can't help every business, but I can help a very specific type of business - but that's my secret sauce too

So, your sales funnel will most likely become clear to you after you decide 1) how you want to make money online and 2) what business model you would like to follow.

We all wish there was a quick and easy answer to this but the truth is, it is different for each and every one of us. Learning to ask the right questions helps a lot.

    What are your goals?
    $5K in 30 Days? $10K in 30 Days? $50K?

Then you would probably need to ask:
"How Can I Make This Happen?"

If you were to do Affiliate Marketing, You could figure it out based upon how many sales you would need to make that happen. You could also guesstimate how much traffic would need to be sent and the conversions (sales) that you would need in order to make that happen.

However, if you don't know how to generate traffic, that would be your starting point.

Go learn everything you can on how to generate traffic.

Step 1) Find a product that sells at JVZoo.com
Step 2) Read up on that products Affiliate Terms of Service.
Step 3) Learn and DO about sending traffic to that offer.
Step 4) Get instant payments into your PayPal account

It's simple, not easy, but simple.

    OR ...

What skills do you currently have?
Are others interested in what I know or what I do?
Would others benefit from what I know?
Do you like to write? If yes, what do you like to write about?
    Do you like to teach?
Do you have spare stuff around your house to sell?
You can sell stuff on Amazon. You can write and self-publish and sell your books on Amazon. You could learn how to create videos and create teaching courses on Udemy.com You can sell your services on fiverr.com

    The possibilities are limitless...

The WarriorForum has an abundance of shiny objects, by reading through the forums and specifically watching the WSOs (not buying every WSO, just watching) you will see opportunities that will give you ideas of emerging new ways to make money online.

The most difficult part is in getting started. Don't take MASSIVE ACTION until you know the RIGHT ACTION to take.

The WarriorForum is all about sharing and learning about how to make money online.

It is so awesome to have such resources available to us and I am sure you will be able to find your way, just as we all are.

Regardless of what path you wind up choosing online, it's a given that you'll need web hosting, a domain, and an email auto responder.

    Hey,

You don't NEED a website to make money online, but it would progress you much further if you did have a website with a lot of visitors. Not just a bunch of visitors, but TARGETED visitors that want what you have to offer.

Also, a domain would be a great idea when setting up your website so that you can brand it. Putting affiliate links in free blogs is an option, and if you were to go with a free blogging platform, I would recommend Blogger.

    Hope this helps!

Ok, so to answer your questions. Yes if you want to get started and build a solid foundation you will want you own website. You don't need a lot of visitors to make money. You need TARGETED visitors! You get that by providing value!

And yes you can get started with free hosting but I suggest looking into something like HostGators 1st month for a penny and picking up a cheap domain via GoDaddy. You can find a penny hosting code for HostGator via a Google search and the same goes for the cheap domain. You can search out "godaddy domain promo code".

The reason I suggest not investing your effort on a free hosted site is you don't have full control. Start out right and build your foundation solid.

I wish ya the best of luck and feel free to reply back here or PM me if you have any questions.
