I have been trying to make money on line for the past 5 years with up and down success and through the process I have stayed up beat and focused and have had the attitude of tomorrow will be the day the big sales come in.

However over the past 6 months I have had a lot of trouble doing things. 2 years ago we took in an older relative so I have also become a care giver and for the most part didn't bother me up til as I said 6 months ago when he seemed to over night become worse.

I can start the day out fine but when I go to get him up and ready for the day I can't seem to remember what else i wanted to put into my article. Often I will just sit for a long time reading what I already wrote and just can't figure out what else I wanted to write. Sometimes I remember sometimes I don't for days but I will just start a new article.

I will eventually remember what I wanted to say and finish each article but since I want to ad the article or web page in order I end up adding nothing for weeks since they need to be in order.

My question is has anyone gone through this, not meaning the caregiver part but just the not being able to remember what they wanted to say after being distracted. Anyone have any tips or suggestions. I have tried leaving little notes at the bottom of the article to help remind me but it didn't seem to work. Thanks

Each idea is like little white bird that's flying by. You got to seize it the very moment it comes by, or else it is gone forever. Maybe you can write it down, or take down a voice note etc etc.

I keep a simple txt pad / notepad open on my PC all day, and type in the things I am likely to forget during the day.

When you get ideas, it's best to write them down immediately.

    Nobody can remember all the ideas they had in a single day, so if you worte them down somewhere you can use your notepad to get back on track;

You got to create a summary/ bullet points of your article. That way it will be easier for you to remember where you left and what you want to say.

When I write an e-book, I first create a summary/bullet point of the structure of the contents. In that way even if I forgot what I will write. I just think of another facts that is related to the bullet point where I left.

Distraction is inevitable IMO when working from home, you got to be prepared to handle them be flexible.

Another option is to create an office and treat it like a JOB, you go to office/room for certain hours and make sure you complete whatever task you have.

    Hey Mark

One tip that I use daily to keep me focused is to keep a small notepad with me to write down anything that will be a useful idea to make money. . . well in your case, it is writing articles.

This is effective because the mind faces MANY distractions on a daily basis, and you can stress yourself out trying to remember everything and most people give up at something that is too stressful.

That being said, work smarter, not harder, and you'd be surprised how fast things start coming together.

    Hope this tip is helpful!

    I've been there for sure!!!

I just started back up again and now make FOCUS my main objective. Aim for something and get it done.

Some tips I could give are get yourself a white-board and WRITE goals/etc down!

Also check out https://evernote.com/ I think it could help you a TON!!! I am slowly incorporating it and things like it into my daily routine to be more productive.

Try sticky notes. I mean the soft version that comes with Windows. Pin them up on your desktop and you wouldn't lose ideas anymore.

This is very, very familiar...and I suspect to many here.

personally, I've found The Pomodoro Technique of huge value when grinding through work..especially in second half of the day. there's a good app available for Mac, called Vitamin B that logs progress...

Once you get an idea just write it down and go with it. As long as you put some action into the idea everything will start to take shape and you will start to become successful.

When i started in the internet marketing was not been easy, i've had moments where i thought i would not making it, but when the things were hard i thought on my goals, and so i found the strength to continue.

Now in my PC i have a Word document where i wrote all my projects, with each step to be followed to develop it, in my opinion this is the best way to remember everything.

When you have an idea, you'll write it immediately and if you want, you can to write every step to follow to develop it, so when you'll go to see all your projects, everything will be clear.

I think it is the best way!

You are most certainly not alone in this. I have an elderly relative on the premises too, and I know how easily distraction can set in!

Some time ago, I read an article (no idea where, I'm afraid) which suggests that, when interrupted and distracted from their train of thought, it can take a programmer about 15 minutes to get back into "the zone" once they've dealt with the interruption. I strongly suspect that the same applies to writers.

As others have suggested, you could try outlining the structure of the article, then filling in the outline, while leaving notes of what you're doing when you get interrupted. Not ideal, but at least you would have some idea of where you were going.

Most great discoveries happen when the mind is at rest. Just quiet your mind to a blank and let the ideas come back to you. Do not worry about if, just tone the mental chatter down.
