How can I use this domain name to make money?

Hello fellow Warriors,

I recently purchased an expired domain name from Go Daddy and it is 4 years old, has a Page Rank of 4, 291 Back Links, 35 External Links, and a Citation Flow of 12 ( http://unitynowonline.com ).

When I checked it with Way Back Machine, it showed me that it was an African Newspaper from Sierra Leone.

Now before I mess up, since this is my first time to purchase an expired domain, I would like to seek advice from fellow members here. I am a newbie and I have already one affiliate site which is 3 months old,and still struggling with traffic.

Please advise me

Thanks a lot

You should probably ask this in the SEO forum. They're the ones who think expired domains with no website and PR with no pages and links that go nowhere are worth something. I don't agree. Google will deindex those links and PR will disappear.

The same way you can use any domain-name to make money: put an income-producing website on it.

Unless you can find someone who's actually willing to pay you something for the domain-name alone. But the only thing you've mentioned about it that would make me think that it could potentially be worth anything more to me than reg-fee is the fact that it's 4 years old. That could possibly help, a little - I don't know how much. The rest wouldn't interest me.

As Suzanne suggests above, if you ask in The SEO Forum here, you may get answers you enjoy reading more (whether they'll be any more accurate or helpful is another matter altogether ).

Sorry, it's too late. But the good news is, you can put your site on a domain that makes sense and move forward building a business by driving targeted traffic to your web site. Any residual traffic that comes to the expired domain isn't going to be targeted and therefore not useful to you. So forward that traffic to your real business domain and maybe you'll luck into a subscriber or two (although I wouldn't count on it).

Do you understand why traffic coming to an African newspaper (Africans wanting to read the news) is not targeted to what you're offering? The Page rank (whether it's faked or not), the backlinks, and all the rest will be very short lived. Do you think Google is dumb enough not to know that all the old links don't apply to a new site just recently coming online?

I hope you will consider a fresh start and a professional online presence.

    The best to you,

Build the website back up with a couple of pages. Try to find what it was previously about and stay with that topic. Sell backlinks or accept guest posts. Tuck it away, find more expired websites, do the same thing, build a big network of websites in the similar niche.

Although the correct way is to have different IP/hosting for each registered domain if you want to interlink them and what not. which can get expensive.

You need to pick a niche that relates in anyway to the domain, monetize the page, and then do SEO on the domain. It will rank very easily.

Unless you are building a private blog network, what made you want to purchase this domain??

You can make just as much money with a new domain that you drive targeted traffic to, than you can to a domain that has a PR 4, and "African newspaper" reader traffic.

If you ever buy an expired domain again, and you are using it for a blog network, make sure that you check the domain authority, trust flow as well as citation flow, check to make sure that the page rank is not fake (alot of times people selling expired domains on the market will fake the PR by redirecting the traffic from a real PR 4 site, then when the expired domain is sold, they stop the redirect, and you lose the PR you paid for...)

Anyway, hope is not lost, check out the domain's information, and see if you can salvage it. If you need help finding free tools to check out the domain, let me know via PM or skype. Goodluck!

Thank you all of you who responded to my question.
I will now be very careful when buying another expired domain.
I wanted to build this one in a MMO (Make Money Online) niche as this is now an international search for survival.
I don't seem to have any other niche that can target an African traffic other than MMO. I will then interlink it with my other affiliate website.
