Hi All,

Am looking out for starting a new business and looking for a niche market to concentrate on.

So would like to know what the experienced people here suggest on selecting a niche.

Should I select a niche from my own hobbies or interest or should I give importance to select a niche where competition is less as my ultimate aim is to make money from the niche related website.

It is difficult to decide on a niche, and what am looking for mainly is a micro niche, a niche within a niche. All ideas are welcome which helps me in selecting a niche.

I already have some websites running in niches of my interest like SUV's and Technology. Now here in this new business my main aim to make some real money. Any suggestion?

I'm afraid you won't get a serious answer for that question. If one knew an idea, he would keep it for himself and execute things for his own benefit. The best advice I can only give you now is to find 2 to 3 ideas and test them.

Ha, Ha! Not really as another gentleman already said. That's one of the least things to worry about. Most people are too lazy, distracted or occupied with life to take "persistent action" enough to even succeed at stealing most great ideas.

One of the keys is just don't give them A to Z information. Or all the secret ingredients to your recipe. Giving them a taste won't hurt.

When decided on a niche, you can go narrow or broad. Both have advantages and disadvantages. Going broad is good because there will be lots of demand, and lots of products. However, there will be more competition. Of course the opposite is true for a smaller niche. The thing is...

It's great to go broad where you know you'll have a lot of people and a lot of products. But it will be very difficult to rank your website using SEO for a broad niche with broad keyword terms. On the other hand, if you drill down and come up with some long-tail keywords in your niche, it might be easier to SEO your site into the top 10 or 20 serps. Plus, if you have the budget to pay for traffic, SEO doesn't matter as much.

The reverse is also true. If you go narrow, you could SEO your site into the top serps, but how many customers will you have? How much of a demand is there? And are the products you could sell?

I think it's best to start in a niche that you like and know something about. Then research the search volumes for different keywords to come up with the best choice. There's no way to know for sure. Gotta trust your instincts. If you work in a niche you like, your job will not seem like work.

In order to choose a niche? There is no way to answer that.

Just find something and do it. Don't spend too much time thinking about it. If you think a certain niche has great potential for success and you're willing to make your vision come true then that's the right niche for you! Good luck!

It is really difficult for us to help you to choose a niche because we
do not know what you are really interested in. Personally, I love pro-
moting health products; so, I have a lot of fun with it, and whenever
you enjoy doing something, you also bring about fantastic result.
Since you have some websites running in niches of SUV's and
Technology, you should stick with it due to the fact that you are
enjoying working with this particular niche.

What's to look for? You already have ties to a possible niche. You have a market. SUV and Technology (whatever that constitutes). Now drill down like others have mentioned already. Use your imagination. Here's an Article to Help

What type of SUV's, What type of technology. For who? What problems are specific people in that market having that hasn't been solved yet. Or can you solve any of those problems better, with a product or service.

Do something you are passionate about.

Without passion you will get bored of it eventually and give up if you don't see any progress (which a lot of people have experienced)

This is a journey you will have to make for yourself. Start by writing down a list of topics you already like writing and talking about. These things could be hobbies or just passions that you like to explore. Also, keep in mind, just because you like doing something for a hobby doesn't mean you will want to write about it. Some things like woodworking might be fun to do, but would you actually enjoy spending a few hours a day writing about it?

Then do research on the competitive nature of your niche. Are there many other people who are in that same niche writing about the same thing?

This thinking process should generate some good ideas on a niche you will want to explore.

Generally the rule of thumb is health, wealth and relationships because they are evergreen. Find a sub-niche within those 3 categories and you should have yourself a winner.

From my opinion, selection of niche is something "subjective". No definite answer. Some people like to concentrate in 2-3 layer niche. (more concentrate), some people like to use huge market niche.
For example. some people like to market with facebook, so they choose huge niche like (cats) so it can be any cat, no specific, and lot of audience.
Some people like to focus on 2 layers (Persian cats)
some people like to focus on 3 layers (Expensive Persian Cats)

So, depends on you. Don think so much, just move on. :-)

Pick any topic and narrow down to smaller niche. After doing this you need to check competition and monthly searches from Google Keyword planner.

it is important to choose a niche that has potential, yes it is great if you have an interest in it but you also need to remember that you may like the idea but if it doesn't make money then it is probably a waste of resources and your time.

I would say to select a niche that is within your passions and interests. In order to be successful in this business, you must be consistent and that is much easier when you are working with something you actually like. Plus, your enthusiasm will be contagious and will help with the positive mood of your prospects. So, find a niche that has a large enough audience, has monetary potential but that you also are knowledgable about and enjoy speaking about.

If you will be spending lots of time on the site, then you will want to write about something that actually interests you as you will have to write about it extensively.

Have you done any research into specific markets yet or are you still at the thinking stage for your site? As you already have some niche blogs, you know what it's like to select a topic and actually get to blogging, so you're not new at this. If I had to make one suggestion, then it would be for something money related. Not like a get rich quick blog as there are many of those already. Maybe something with an investing theme.

Choose a niche that you are willing to commit to 100%. Don't worry about competition. Worrying about competition is a form of fear and you don't want to make decisions based on fear.

      Interesting belief, there.

Competition is highly relevant to me, as an affiliate marketer, and always has been. I research niches carefully before choosing them. Long experience has taught me that I earn more money in niches in which most of my future subscribers won't previously have been on 15 other marketers' lists and seen nearly all the products' sales-pages before. Call me neurotic, but that feels like something of a "no-brainer" to me.
