New to IM - made my first step - what next?

Hi everyone! Hope all is well. I ran into a small problem when making my first page. I did tons of research using advice found on these forums and other sites before making my first website. I did research using both Google trends and Google keyword planner as well.

The advice I found and applied was to find a niche I was interested in, and then use the keyword planner to find a keyword/s that was getting AT LEAST 1,000 searches a month, but had low to medium competition. After messing around with it a while, I found a niche and keyword that had roughly 5,500 searches a month using a very specific long tail keyword (not broad at all) and low competition. Check. So, I did what I thought was best next - I found an affiliate eBook/video lesson on Clickbank that answered the question being searched for on Google and made a website. I then wrote 5 original articles on 5 separate pages of the site dealing with various topics within the subject matter. After that, I made a separate page that leads to the actual affiliate link that I got from Clickbank. I kept it simple and to the point and made the link say "$500 of info. One program. $47" based on the landing page of the actual product. I think I did okay for my first website but here is where I ran into a problem.
My niche subject is adult. It's not pornographic or sleazy at all, but it does have to do with a sex topic.
I signed up for a Google Adwords account, set my daily budget for $3.00 (I know, some of you will laugh at that, but the bid for the keyword is only $0.01 so I figured it would be enough to at least get started learning.) I got an email later on in the day...my ads were disapproved. It says that I violated their terms of service and so they can't be displayed.
My question is - what are some good alternatives to Adwords? I'm BRAND NEW to this IM thing so I'm clueless in some areas. I feel like I set up my keywords and website so that search engines will pick it up fairly easily, but I know it takes time. I'm not a newb expecting to make $1,000 overnight or anything like that, I know it takes real work and effort, I just don't know where to go next.

Give Bing ads a try read the TOS before signing up. Since you are in the adult arena, I can not tell if Bing will accept you or not... Have you considered any other traffic sources beside pay ads ? This thread can help point you in the right decision. http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ffic-tips.html

As DWolfe said, check the terms of service. Generally speaking, you're going to have a somewhat more difficult time, with extra restrictions placed on you by networks, ISPs, etc.

If you're brand new and just getting started, I wouldn't recommend that you start in this niche. The restrictions will make it more difficult for you to see success.

Before you drive traffic to your website, make sure you have a system that works to make you profit.

Even if you drive 100,000 readers a day to your website you won't make a single dollar if your website system does not work.

Ensure a workable funnel, be it a landing page that gets leads or a squeeze page etc...
After that you will be able to learn your conversion rates.

For every reader you drive to your website what is the % that pays?

Use this data to improve everyday.
If your customer value is higher than the money you put in per lead, then you are in profit.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! I will definitely look into Bing ads and at first, I was kind of ignoring the whole squeeze page thing (because I'm an idiot) and trying to bypass that, but after reading more on the forums AND having one of you mention it in a reply, I am definitely going to put that on my to-do list ASAP. Thanks so much for the info and I will get to you with that PM.

If you're new to IM I probably wouldn't start with PPC as you'll blow a SH*T ton of money down the drain. Try Facebook and YouTube marketing

Hi there newbie, first. You should be proud of yourself, at least you are taking action, even those steps might feel small maybe for you, at least you are driving the vehicle towards your success. I advice everyone to learn how to do proper keyword research because this is really most important part. PPC (Pay Per Click) you can use this to begin with but because you are a newbie I would advice you to stay away from it and learn the basic first then later use PPC.

If you need more advice or help feel free to send me a private message.

If it's of a sex / adult nature then advertising on porn sites might be one of your only options.

By the way another point. If you only used Google Keyword Planner for your keyword research and were looking to find out a keyword that was easy to rank (i.e. low competition) then Google Keyword Planner does NOT tell you that information.

The competition level relates to Adwords competition. You might know that already as you said you tried to run some ads but many people confuse that for thinking it means easy to rank in search engines.

I know why people are recommending stay away from PPC while you are 'learning the ropes' but the only way to learn PPC is to do PPC.

So give yourself a strict budget and start like that (tracking is essential: prosper 202 can help you here).

Why don't u try using Ppv, it's a lot less likely to get disapproved and the rates are cheaper..

Use the power of social media. Promote your product/services and make yourself renowned by people. You are now in the branding phase.
