Hi,

If you were a newbie without a connection in the Internet Marketing niche; what would be your best approaches to recruit affiliates to help you promote your very first product?

If i was a newbies without a connection in the IM niche, I would not blindly crate an affiliate product.

Rather, I would create a produce that actually solves peoples problems and give it out for free to increase my leads.
Once I have sufficient leads, I would up sell add-on products and services to my leads.

After that, I will then create a great product to sell to my leads + affiliates.

That's a good one; but the question was how to get affiliates, yeah, I know you should get leads and all that and I'm sure you know that your leads are different from affiliates since your leads might not be interested in affiliate marketing.

So the question remains, how to get affiliates to promote your offer?

Whe I said tell 'them', I'm not referring to your leads. I'm referring to you contacting affiliates about your offer and giving them your stats. Most affiliates are about how much will they be getting back if they spend 'x' amount. So the better your stats are, the easier it will be to get them to promote.

Now if you're problem is finding and contacting then and not necessarily on getting them to promote, then JV sites (if you're in the IM niche) like JVnotify is a good place to start. Just set up an affiliate page (again with your stats) to get them to promote.

If you're not in the IM niche, then just find people with lists and approach them by email (again with your stats to get them to say yes easier). A good method to find them is by going to google and typing - (site:Email Marketing Software & Autoresponder from GetResponse + your niche). It's going to return a bunch of people that is building a list on your niche that uses getresponse as their autoresponder.

Another thing I could suggest (since you didn't specify in your OP) is to put your product on clickbank and other platforms for affiliates to find your offer without you doing all the work.

I hope that answered the question that remained. =)

Yeah! Thanks man, that was insightful.

I've listed on muncheye though; I tried to list on jvnotifypro but to be honest that site pains my eyes, I can't even understand how to navigate through it

There are a lot of ways but the best is to promote it to your list first and track your sales.

If you have a good EPC and a good converting product to boot then getting affiliates will be a no brainer. All you have to do by then is tell them you got a converting offer and show them your stats.

Frankly, no affiliate in their right mind will send their list (most of them have) to your offer without knowing these things.

It's always what's in it for them.

I have an offer and 45 people of my 300 list size has bought my offer; I've just launched on jvzoo. But I'm asking because I'm quite not sure how and where to reach out to affiliates to promote my offer

We're not talking about list size. The question is, how many people clicked on the link to your offer? And out of the people who clicked, how much did you earn overall? Divide your earnings with the number of people who clicked or saw your offer. That's the number you're looking for.

          I get it, Thanks.

But again, assuming all things are accurate and what I really need is how to get affiliates to promote, how do I go about it?

I know there are lots of processes, I understand that; but right now I want us to zero on how or ways to attract affiliates to promote offers

Thanks for your responses so far but I want more

Dan, I'm in the same boat as you are. My old business crashed and burned and so I'm starting all over from scratch. I have a no IM product (not make money online crap) that I'm releasing in about a month or so. I also need to get affiliates but really don't know where to start.

So here is what I'm going to do. This may or may not work but it's all I can think of.

        1) I'm going to contact every major site that is related to the product I'm selling that won't see it as competition but as something it can promote to make extra money. If I can just get a few of the top sites to do this, I may do okay. The trick is convincing them that it's a no brainer to promote it. And yes, you will have to show them stats and also offer a high commission rate. I'm offering 75%. Hopefully, that will be enough.

        2) Get the product listed in the affiliate marketplace I plan to use, either Clickbank or JVZoo.

        3) Contact everybody I personally know who might be interested in promoting the product or at least maybe spread the word around for me.

        4) Research sites online that list affiliate programs. I've done this before without much success but I figure I have nothing to lose.

        5) Advertise at this very forum in the appropriate section. I'm not sure where that is but I'm pretty sure there is some sub forum here where you can advertise to get affiliates. You may have to pay a fee for this. I'm not sure.

In my 11 years of marketing online, I have yet to be able to crack the secret to getting an army of affiliates. Even my best Clickbank product of all time (made it up to #46 in the marketplace rankings) had a gravity of like 20 at its best. That's not exactly an army.

IMO, there is no easy way to get affiliates. You have to promote your affiliate program as much, if not more, than you promote the offer itself.

So don't be surprised at the responses you've gotten so far. In my 8 years here I have yet to see one of these threads actually reveal anything earth shattering on how to get affiliates because the truth is, it's damn hard.

That is the reality you're faced with.

Of your itemized strategies, I think #1 has the most potential.

Sites with their own product to sell, typically also either 1) sell advertising space, or 2) sell related products (as an affiliate) in order to offer additional content/service to their visitors and to further monetize the site.

Many will view as positive, the opportunity to promote a NEW product in their market.

An "army" of affiliates should not be your goal. What you want is a smaller number of very aggressive affiliates who can put together their own sales plan and execute it. Of course to put forth the required effort, they'll need to be sold on your product in the first place. (a review copy may be in order for those that sign up)

IMO, there is no easy way to get affiliates. You have to promote your affiliate program as much, if not more, than you promote the offer itself.
This is the most important point in your response.

Once you've decided to use affiliates to market your product (a no-brainer, in my opinion) YOUR job becomes one of "recruiting" the best affiliates you possibly can (not the biggest number). If you get them actively marketing your product, the sales will just happen.

Spend your time on creating more marketing collateral for your affiliates, new related products for them to promote, and recruiting more of the same. Your own "reach" in the marketplace will never equal that of a few top-notch affiliates !!

You can recruit affiliates by contacting website owners that function in the same niche you want to promote. Just scour the internet and send an email to as many website owners as you can and ask them if you can send an email to their list of subscribers because you have a new product you are trying to promote.

This is good but a lot of times if you are not well known these website owners don't even want to listen to what you've got to say, but I guess one will have to keep trying until the big break

    1) Place on affiliate marketplaces (clickbank, paydotcom, etc)

    2) Submit to affiliate directories

    3) Place link to affiliate program on every page of your site

    4) Advertise for them via PPC

    5) Find some on this forum

    6) Pitch it to your email newsletter subscribers.

Getting affiliates is not an easy thing, even some of the bigger sites have trouble getting them , we are talking about affiliates who are active, not just sign up, but there are several things u can do to maximize ur chance:
      1. Offer high commission (above 50%)
      2. Show statistics, prove them promoting your product will be worth their time and effort
      3. Promote their products back, a reciprocal relationship may work here.
With the above methods and a little luck, you may just get an affiliate.

It is. In fact, most aspects of marketing online are harder than most people think, which is why so many new people get discouraged so easily and quickly and never really stick things out.

I've been doing this 11 years and am actually starting all over again from scratch. There is no such thing as having "made it" because things can change and if you don't stay on top of those changes your whole business can come crashing down on you.

You may get an affiliate, or even two or three and 2 months later they can decide to stop promoting your product for any one of a number of reasons.

My first product at Clickbank, I found one affiliate who was doing 100 sales a month. He stopped promoting it after a few months. Why? It was starting to cost him too much and he wasn't getting as good a return. After a while, the product stopped selling altogether.

You have to work at this every single day. There is never any "sitting back and relaxing" like I thought. That kind of thinking cost me everything.

As long as you understand this and do everything you need to do and do it on a daily basis, you'll be fine.

When "newbies" on ClickBank get their first product approved, they have access to the Affiliate Finder, which provides a system for new vendors to contact affiliates who have had success promoting products in the same niche/category.

Try to launch your product in muncheye, warriorjv to get affiliate. And offer them commission more than 50%. Or you can try on joint venture forum in warrior. There are so many venture who offer their money and time to promote your product since your product is good. But you should be careful to choose from. You should note the good criteria for recruite jv, check their website traffic, and their list.

    1) Build a list of your own (free giveaway, WSO, etc)
    2) Promote other affiliates offers
    3) After you have promoted the offers of other affiliates, send them a message saying that you where glad to help them on their launch ... and you would appreciate if they took a look at yours ... (and give them some stats on how it converted for you)

Do not blindly message affiliates who dont know you.
