Hi,

So after udemy has changed the payment scheme I am getting less for my courses. Therefore I am looking somewhere else and looking for people who have moved away or just hosting their own video courses and actually selling them.

What software do you use?
Did you set it up or did you hire someone/team?

Thanks

Hosting your own video courses is how most Internet Marketers do it. You certainly will make a lot more money (at least keep a lot more of the profit) than doing it through Udemy.

Hosting the courses yourself is going to require you to learn a couple more skill sets. You are going to have to learn how to setup your own membership site as well as how to drive your own traffic to it to get new members instead of relying on the natural traffic of Udemy.

So here is what you will need:

    1) A membership plugin (If you are using wordpress). I'll list several below that you can check out.
    2) A Place to host your videos. I host all of mine on the amazon s3 servers. You can read more about it here: AWS | Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) - Online Cloud Storage for Data & Files

    3) You will need to learn how to drive traffic to your new membership site. There is not one all inclusive place that I can send you too learn this but there is a TON of free great info here in this forum. Just search around for it.

    Hope that helps!

I have never used it, but Woothemes has a plugin called Sensei, which is for courses and lessons. Seems might be a solution.

It is wide open over there, Udemy has a serious need for better content, if you can provide good content, that really teaches the subject, you would do really well, I audited four courses over there last week and I was really shocked at how below average the content was.

One thing to remember make sure you have a good "working" background in the subject at hand, because no matter how much you "think" you know unless you have a practical working knowledge of the subject you will not be able to "fake it till you make it"

I saw one course on wordpress security that was clearly obtained from an Ebook and it was not a very good ebook.

Derek Halpern has launched a new product called Zippy Courses. Although new, it may prove to be a good option for hosting your course on your website.
