Strange results in Google index

When checking to see what pages of my site are indexed in Google (using the site: search operator) I was surprised to see that there are over 200 results. The site I was checking is new and only has a total of about 10 published posts and pages. A lot of the pages have the title, "Login or Register" and with the following snippet, "This page is automatically displayed if access to a protected page or file is accessed and the user is not yet logged in. | Powered by liveSite ...". There are also pages such as "Store" and "Pay for Downloads, none of which actually exist". I just don't get why they are there and where they are coming from.

Fortunately, all the offending urls were contained in just 2 directories so after blocking them in my robots.txt file I submitted a request to have them removed from the index. Hopefully no harm was done but I still would like to know how they got there.
