Royalty Free Graphics

Hello Warriors,

If you don't mind, can some of you share where you buy your royalty free graphics? Searched up quite a few places and they seem to be really pricey at $5/image.

There's one I noticed graphicstock.com which works on a subscription basis though I'm not too sure if it's reliable as the prices are much lower than the rest and it doesn't share where their images are soruced.

Typically, I'd use free royalty images such as Google image searches although the variety and quality isn't that great - so looking for some alternatives.

Thanks

$5 per image seems high and you might be able to hire a photographer on Craigslist for less depending on what you need. Then you get exclusive images and you know where they are sourced.

There are lots of stock sites doing $1 images too Dollar Photo Club comes to mind. Best of luck finding the images you need

Pretty sure that $5 is pretty average for a stock image/graphics, and there is no possible way that you'll ever find a photographer to get the work done cheaper. I'd pity the poor hopeless photographer who charges less than $5 per image for work. Would probably be homeless if they charged those rates.

I do some photography work and I charge $50-$100 per image depending on the amount of editing. Plus that's not even considering the cost of the shoot, props, model, travel, etc...

  • I've picked up tons of quality images at a great deal from a guy who's name rhymes with glad, mad, bad, add, dad, fad, grad, lad, pad, sad, tad....

Can't put my finger on it though, I'll let you know when it comes to me.

I personally use Fotolia for all my stock image purchases. Their subscription plans are awesome! Though they've been getting a little money grubby lately since it USED to be $75 / month for 50 full HD images and now it's $75 for 25.

Though you can still get 50 if you don't need the full resolution files.Check it out

Buy stock photos, vectors and videos in HD with Fotolia subscriptions

Yeah except you need to be very careful about using flikr images and pinterest images as you're likely to get sued. iStock photo is pretty sue happy. I'd wager 75% of their earnings are from sueing people since they've got bots going all over the web daily looking for images from their network.

I personally know people that had used a few images on flikr that they thought were good to use but was actually iStock images.

They got a letter from iStocks lawyer and had to pay a $5000 settlement. It's best to always BUY your images from a known source and have an actual license you can point to if someone comes trying to sue you over it.

A good resource I like to use for royalty free images is actually provided by Microsoft. Their Office Image search tool provides royalty free images. Their home page appears to be down at the moment but you can check it out here.

An example of their searches for business type images that is loading can be seen here.
