Best way to launch a new list

OK,

I am looking for some ideas as to the best way to launch a new email list... so if you please, is it possible to get serious answers

I know there are a variety of methods, but trying to figure out what is the best method for me.

1) I had seen the 7 Dollar script thing : is that viable

2) I understand having a giveaway - signup to get X . That should be a given .

3) is there a way to leverage others with lists - sort of the big giveaway - as long as there are unique items and not all the PLR/ MRR stuff. Perhasp like the &dollar thing to have people purchase a valuable item/set for cheap with the money going toward those referring visitors & then try to catch those signups on the list

4) I have the landing/signup page in process and working on aweber, etc.

Am I missing anything else? This isn't rocket science but I really would like to leverage others and even work with others on this.

What do I need to do, create, or organize to be successful in building a good, targeted list with a decent count?

I am not a complete noobie, but I would love if none of us had to wade through a bunch of sarcastic posts telling me I am an idiot or to just do what everyone else does.... Hate to say that, but it seems to happen when people ask a question that may not be phrased very well.

SO If I am asking something stupid here, ask me questions /make suggestions to help me to better explain myself.

    Hi Kevin,

    You seem to be on the right track. Only thing I;d say is don't try lots of gimmicks.

    Get the squeeze page set up with your giveaway first and work on traffic to that page. Once that's set up, think about how to make it viral. Too many times people try to run before they can walk and so you end up with no live page getiing some opt-ins and just a lot of big ideas which never get off the ground.

    You can take a look at a page I put together with some free vids and audio that explains this alot better than I can in a forum post.

    List Building

    Once you have your page set up, your best bet is to tackle your third suggestion of getting JV partners. There's an awesome video with a really good technique for this by Lee McIntyre. It's again free but requires opt-in to get it.

    Anyway, just get your squeeze page up with giveaway today, not tomorrow or next week. Then worry about improving it. Start building your list now! )

      Thats what I call a great 'warrior response'.

      Thanks for understanding the 'game' - You are right that I need to take care of business before getting carried away with the end results.

      I will check out the resources and learn what I can.

      I guess I need to also know if there are better methods for optimizing the squeeze page (video, etc, short/ long).

      And if I should do anything to make the list/idea/page more appealing to others to want to share and what will entice them to do so.

      And I need to spend some time thinking about that viral aspect...

      Getting to work to finish the page today - thanks for that kick in the pants.

        Hi,

        Overall tips for the squeeze page:

        Have a compelling headline

        Continue to give killer reasons to opt-in

        Let them know their email address is safe and you are ethical

        Make sure the opt-in is above the fold (ie. no need to scroll to find it)

        A video intro is becoming very popular but still have the headline and more text.

        It doesn't need to be flash, it needs to give them what they want.

        Call to action. You need to make it 100% obvious what they have to do to get what you're offering (ie. big arrow - put your email address in here and click button etc).

        In terms of the viral aspect, the main thing to bear in mind is that the biggest motivation for most people to get other people to your squeeze page is money. If they make money by sending people to your squeeze page they'll put effort into it.

        Have a look at concepts such as Butterfly marketing and the one time offer page. Boomerang listbuilder is also worth considering. Ps. No, I am not selling these... )

    You can always use plr for your own independent giveaway . I use free tools that is targeted to the internet marketer . I don't know what your niche is but a lot of people will tell you yo stay away from the make money at home niche , I have never understood this. The internet marketers are the ones spending the money on tools and resources . The niche is so huge that if you just get the crumbs consistently there is good money in it .

    Anyway find a product you could sell to your particular niche and give it away for the contact information . Try engaging with your list members for at least a couple of weeks before you try selling to them. It will not take a huge list to start making money from your list if you treat them right .

      There are 101 ways to do this and I just am looking for the ideas that seem to fit me, my list and what I want to do.

      So I am finishing up a working on a strategy for launch.
