Has anyone had any success is paying for targeted traffic? I see these sites out there but just not sure how it works or how they can get people who are genuinely interested in what is on your site. Anyone have any advice?

I doubt that they work. I don't even spend a penny on PPC, and I get about 2000+ visitors a day to my site.

How do you do this? I have a difficult area as I need niche traffic for a job board so I can't really find a lot of places in my niche area where they allow links etc.

You need to be careful buying traffic.

Obviously something like Google Adwords allows you to create highly targeted traffic.

However, some sites selling traffic are simply out for your dollar.

Some people swear by this type of traffic and use it for optins to their email list. This may work to some degree, although it is hard to see how anyone can sell you a ton of targeted traffic.

How would they get it in the first place?

The best way to get traffic is to generate it free yourself. You want it targeted so find the place where your niche market hangs out and participate there.

Be patient about getting traffic. Adding content is one of the best ways to get traffic and also creating backlinks through commenting on blogs etc.

Paid targeted traffic is not worth the risk. You cannot take their words for granted. The traffic you are provided could be generated through spam or popups or spyware toolbar. Worst they could be paying people to just visit your site and visitors would earn $0.0001 for a visit.

Instead I would recommend you utilize the money to buy advertisements on websites or forums.

There's so many kinds of paid traffic.

Revolves, I think you're talking about PTC; which I haven't tried to use for my campaigns.

IMO, paid traffic(ppc) is the fastest way to test and optimize your campaign/niche.

I would only buy traffic from Google or Yahoo and places like that. Sites who are selling bulk traffic are doing so because it is crap traffic that doesn't convert. Believe me, if it was any good they would keep it for themselves. Now I'm sure someone will say they've had good luck but I will forever remain skeptical.

When I first started out I bought some traffic packages.

Problem is that my stats showed that most of the visits "bounced", the others averaged about 0.1 seconds time on my site, and none of them converted into sales.

My advice would be to avoid them at all costs.

As long as your sign ups monetize through back end (like OTO), it always pays for itself, including posting WSO.

It works but you need to know how to do PPC first.

There is no magic secret to getting free traffic.

Follow the tips you see online.

Add content, create backlinks and make sure you create a website that is quality - not just rubbish.

Getting traffic is not hard to do at all. Only reason I can understand why people "pay" for traffic is by outsourcing their article writing, by doing this you have more time to do other methods of SEO such as social bookmarking, blog commenting, etc.
