What Method Should I Try?

by AmberT

Hey I want to start making money online but I am wonderin what method to try.

I am willing to do hard work and not looking for a push button solution, I know they probably don't exist anyway since I have been burned before with these.

I heard list building in a niche is a good thing to do?

I have done some freelance work such as articles to get some money but I don't see much long term potential in this.

Thanks

Do yourself a big favor and build a list. Pick a niche that you are comfortable with to start attracting people to your list by offering them something of value in exchange for their email address. Then send out regular valuable communications sprinkled with an offer every once in a while that makes sense for your niche and the money will follow.

          100% True.

Build a list in an evergreen niche...build a relationship with them...then make them offers.

Also, go with something you would be most comfortable with doing. You're gonna need to work on it for a long time so it's a good idea to pick something you can see yourself still doing 6 months from now.

Picking a comfortable niche is great. You can invest time in it and not get bored. Getting leads can be tough too, but if you're willing to make the effort by engaging in social media, you'll naturally gain valuable audience members and increase your list. Take Matthew Woodward for example.

One of the free ways to know where to engage is to create a Google Alert of your niche keyword and whenever there is any activity, Google will notify you and you can take that opportunity to engage the blog, forum, etc...

But of course in the internet marketing world, almost anything can be bought, even a list specified to your niche.

There is something very important to keep in mind,

You make money online when you sell stuff. Just like any business.

Just building a list will not make you money....

Here are the basic mechanics of running an online business..

Decide what you will sell... Will you create your own products and services or will you sell others as an affiliate?

Decide Which Market you will enter.. The big markets are the best.. Don't waste time going for non proven tiny markets... Money, Health Relationships

Learn everything you can about the market you are in.. How old are they, what are their fears wants needs and desires... What keeps them up at night? What are they buying... Look at direct response mailing lists to see what others are buying, study the sales materials and model offers that are selling like crazy...

Setup a system to build a list and follow up to either sell your own offer, or an affiliate offer.... test everything... Work on optimizing your funnel and list building campaign until you have a money machine that pumps out more cash than you put in..

Study the art of copy writing, study David Ogilvy, Eugene Schwartz, John Carlton, Gary Halbert, Dan Kennedy...

Drive traffic to your system, as much as possible.. Work on getting your Lifetime Customer Value Higher than your Aquisistion Cost...

Understand that this is business, and simple business basics, and marketing basics will take you very far..

Mastering the basics will help you far surpass everyone who is lust looking for some gimmicky way to make money....

The method you pick will depend on a lot of things: the niche, your personality type and a whole lot of factors. For instance, if you do not like to talk to people then perhaps running your own Youtube channel is out. I prefer email marketing as it is long term

As already mentioned build a list.

Do some market research and find problems people are having wither its stopping smoking, losing weight, making money online there is lots of niches then research that area

and start building your list by creating products of value , always give before you take create some free reports helping these people with solutions to their situation

then you can capture their email in exchange for your free report or videos this is handled by an autoresponder, when you start building your list , you want to gain the trust of those people so continual free training information and hold webinars to promote any products you have

    I hope this helps

Why do you say you don't see potential in article writing. It's a high demand market. If you are good at it and love doing it focus on marketing your skills. This very forum can get you a lot of leads. Run WSOs, link your portfolio site to your signature, find work in the Warriors for hire section...the opportunities are endless.

I started online 7 years ago. Sold 2 online businesses then im
starting to build my own brand now.

What I did when i first started is I looked for hungry buyers
then solved their problems. In that case, 7 yrs ago, there were
    hungry buyers for articles

I lived in the Philippines and filipinos speak good english.
so me and my partner hired a bunch of writers and
offered writing services for online businesses.
We made 5 figures in revenues monthly

You don't need to be really good at anything. I don't write
articles myself and I don't really love to write. You just need
to look for buyers then look for a solution for them

Don't over complicate things. it's as simple as
    Traffic + conversion = sales
Hungry buyers + Solution = sales

All the information is free inside the warriorforum. Just read
them apply them and test them yourself.

Do the most simple thing possible. Don't forget to always give value and
be honest. TRUST is VERY IMPORTANT online

Definitely, definitely correct, one way or the other being honest should always be on top of your daily actions. Once you are able to help answer a problem everything will follow.

you have received many answers - the point is it is all about selling something, information, physical goods, services. You should cultivate multiple streams of income, but one at a time. Build a blog as a headquarters and document your journey, offer help to others. niches should be explored according to your own ability to persist in them, which means having a passion or interest. Selling goods on Amazon, eBay is very lucrative with the right products. There is so much choice you will be paralyzed ...don't worry, pick one and go with it.

What nicholslab said: just building a list won't make you any money.

You must sell stuff. To sell stuff, you need to get your target market on a list so you can communicate with them regularly.

The Direct Marketing Association did a study some time back which found people typically make their first purchase only after seeing/hearing from you 7-9 times! So if you're expecting a sale on first contact, you'll go broke. We buy from people we know, like and trust.

Clarity is a HUGE part of IM success. I hope this post brings some clarity. It's so simple when you know it -- and darn difficult when you don't! I owe my mentors a world of thanks for bringing this clarity.

IM is actually pretty simple: you can sell only one of two things:

      1. Products
      2. Services

      That's it!

And selling products or services online happens in the same basic way for everyone, no matter what they're selling:

      Traffic > Opt-in page > Autoresponder series (or e-zine) > Sales page

That's it! It's just that simple. (We IMers tend to overcomplicate things.)

But no matter what your niche is, or whether you're selling a product or a service, do you know what your business model is?

A business model is the framework or skeleton of your business. Essentially there are three types of online business models:

      1. Membership-based model

A membership-based business model allows you to build a community of people (your members) who are as passionate about your subject as you are. Your membership fees can be monthly or annual, but either way, you're building recurring, passive income.

There are a lot of resources and information out there to help you build a membership-based business if you're interested in doing this.

      2. Product-based model

Selling products allows you to maximize your time and effort by selling items over and over again. This can be hard goods or it can be information products. Information marketing is it's own business model under the product-based model. Information marketing allows you to take your brain to the bank by creating a product ONCE based on what you know and selling it over and over again.

Affiliate marketing falls under both models. You can choose to market either products or services as an affiliate.

      3. Service-based model

Selling services can be great for 1) generating quick cash (as in the case of article writing or video producing) and 2) establishing your expertise and getting testimonials.

However, in the long run, your goal should be to offer services at a PREMIUM. The biggest advantage of IM is LEVERAGE. You're able to leverage your time, money and expertise exponentially online. We all have just 24 hours each day. Time to get ruthless about what you expect for those hours you spend in IM each day. Expect more of yourself and more from your business friends, clients, partners, etc.

What results are you getting for those hours you spend online each day? Ultimately, your services should be at the bottom of your funnel and cost the most since they involve your time and personal attention. (We all have a limited amount of time each day.)

The fun (and confusion) comes in with all of the endless mix-and-match possibilities of the above models. If you're just starting or still struggling to make money, keep it simple:

      Pick just ONE!

      1. Pick ONE niche. (Something you're interested in and know something about.)

      2. Pick ONE target market for your product or service. (Who will buy what you're offering? The more specific you are, the more you narrow it down, the more successful you'll be.)

      3. Pick ONE business model.

Now that you're clear about what business you're in, FOCUS! (And stop buying any info not related to your niche and target market, period!)

      F -- Follow
      O -- One
      C -- Course
      U -- Until
      S -- Successful

And remember: build a list, Build a List, BUILD A LIST!

In IM, it's easy to put the cart before the horse. Take a deep breath, step back and consider what type of business you REALLY want. Don't worry about getting traffic or buying that expensive traffic product until you know 1) what your business model is, 2) what niche you're in and 3) WHO your target market is!

Successful business people will tell you that MARKETING is more than half the effort that's needed for success anyway. So pick a niche, target market and business model. Then spend most of your time and effort marketing it.

If you DON'T have a solid plan or system, THAT'S when it's hard. A good system will shave YEARS (and save you big $$$) off of your learning curve

That's why I recommend investing in at least one good, comprehensive IM course (or mentor who will give you such a system) instead of jumping from one $37 e-book to the next. A lot of people here complain about not being able to make any money. But neither are they willing to invest in their business. (Buying a random bunch of $37 e-books doesn't count.)

The best thing I ever did was invest in a comprehensive IM course aimed at REAL business owners, not just other IM wannabes. Yes it was $1500. (It's no longer available.) But it was truly some of the best A-Z IM info I ever bought. Everything else I've learned (from the $37 e-books) since has simply been plugged into this system.

My two best recommendations for phenomenal IM training programs are Ali Brown's Elevate program (ElevateBizTraining.com) and Jeff Walker's Product Launch Formula (ProductLaunchFormula.com)

Get a solid plan or system and then work the plan!

      Hope this helps!

If you are willing to start list building, you will find that you will create an asset regardless of the market that you decide to go into.

Start by offering something for FREE, but of VALUE and then begin to engage your list.

This is just one, the other way is to sell a product and then build a list this way.

The key is to just begin
