Would any one have any suggestions for passive online income ideas for someone in the accounting field?

Thanks,

As an accountant you are in an unbelievable position of trust already. The trick is not to jeopardize it with out and out selling letters etc...

I would give your existing clients good marketing advice by interviewing other providers eg Website designers etc and you take a 50% share of all ongoing sales.
You could, if you trust the provider, brand it under your name, but it is risky.

In the UK we have Estate agents who sell houses, but one of their major sources of income is from Mortgage guy, who sits in their office selling mortgages. The Mortgage guy or Girl works for a Broker or Bank. The Estate agents in effect get a passive income from just letting the mortgage consultant sit in their office.

I trust that this has now sparked some ideas for you, but if it is not clear ask me again.

      Hi Jeremy,

      Thanks for the advice.
I actually work full time, so I don't actually have any private clients at the moment.
Was just looking to see if there was any semi-passive niches online that would work with my accounting background?

      Best Regards,

      Lance

This implies anyone selling is untrustworthy and is bad advice. There is nothing wrong with "out and out" selling, unless one conflates that with bad selling. If you have a good product your clients would be interested in, you come right and out say you are selling it because it is something you believe they would benefit from.

Say what? Are you going to interview Craiglist email scrapers and recommend those to your accounting clients for a 50% share? Of course not. There is no match between you, your clients, and the offer.

The only thing you have indicated you have expertise in is accounting. If you have a web designer who created a great website for you and you send a referral to your clients who need a website or website upgrade, that is one thing.

But it would be idiotic to interview web designers and send promotions to your clients for web design.

      Here are some better ideas:

      - You take your tax knowledge and create reports which can be sold and membership areas which can be subscribed to.

That's a no brainer. I've already done it for a number of tax issues. Your expertise flows naturally to the product and it is something your clients will be interested in. Mine have been very thankful.

All you have to do is take a difficult, vague, interesting, or popular tax issue you recently dealt with and researched, write it up and sell it. Literally, your clients are paying you to create products you can sell to others.

This matches your expertise with accounting clients.

      - You review products already in use in your office, such as Lacerte versus other software, where you have affiliate links or just AdSense ads. These are $10,000 per year programs. Your market is other accountants or CPAs.

Again, your expertise matches the product.

This matches your expertise with accounting professionals.

      - If your accounting practice is niche specific, such as most of your clients are in a certain industry, then you look at products in that industry.

You're the accountant for gym professionals and get clients in the gym. Let me tell you about AcmeP100X, it's great for _____. Even better is if the product could be a tax deduction.

Or, you're the accountant for newly divorced dads in the area facing tax issues they have never seen before. Your clients know your niche and would be receptive to a dating offer to help them out.

This matches your expertise with a niche intertwined with your expertise.

You can of course combine these and create new avenue streams. Handle a recent interesting tax issue for a gym professional? Suddenly you have a product to be niche marketed to other gym professionals.

        Hi kindsvater,

        Thanks for the advice.
My background is not actually in tax but more in supporting accounting software.
The niche I am interested in though is ecommerce.

No it does not mean this at all.

I was simply stating that as he has clients already who trust him with their confidential affairs, he is in a position to recommend other trusted professionals to them. A good professional salesman could also do the same for his clients and recommend other trusted professionals.

Say what? Are you going to interview Craiglist email scrapers
Again absolutely not. you interview people to provide valuable information to clients from other trusted professionals.

        Hi Lance,

You could take several of the above ideas and turn them into a Udemy course, which will have a higher perceived value and will position you as the expert.

Udemy is a huge online learning platform that is on the rise, with over 2 million students and they do a pretty good job of promoting your courses.

Here's what they show for the term "accounting".

Since I don't know much about the details of your specialty, you can probably take it from there.

I make several $1000s a month (passive income) on Udemy and here's how YOU can, too...

          Interesting ideas above!

          Lance,

If I understood right, you are an accountant with an interest in eCommerce. That's a great niche to be in!

I have an idea for you - You could tie up with software companies in the eCommerce-accounting space and earn commissions for introducing your clients to their software. We are one such company. Get in touch if you are interested.

You are in an awesome position to do a WEBINAR SERIES on how to Save Money on Taxes and Plan for Retirement properly.

You can easily promote these with short kindle books (not intended to sell per se but to get people to read the first pages of your book through the 'look inside' feature)

You can also promote your webinar through repurposed SEO text on your Web 2.0 blogs which are then mass published on Twitter / FB groups and related FB pages

The only limits are your imagination and willpower.

Take action TODAY by sitting down and putting a plan together.

Break that plan into smaller to do items and NAIL those items DAILY.

Promote products under business / financial from Clickbank, but don't endorse them if you've never used their products.
