PayPal Subscription Question

Hi all

I want to setup a PayPal subscription button on my page. Do buyers have to have a PayPal account to make a payment to that link?

With single payment buttons, I know they don't.

Many thanks in advance.

  • I am pretty sure they do have to have an account to sign up that way. I have one and haven't had any problems with people complaining that they aren't able to sign up. I know not everyone uses paypal, but I find that most people do.

Have you had problems in the past with folks complaining about you using only paypal?

    • Thanks for the reply.

Up until now, I have been using a PayPal single payment option, and a NoChex payment button (very similar to PayPal). I find that most of my visitors use the PayPal option, but am not sure how many have a PayPal account.

I offer annual advertising slots on the site, so want to introduce a subscription payment so that the accounting is taken care of for future payments, but don't want to alienate advertisers who may not have a PayPal account. The niche for this site is local wedding suppliers.
  • Yes, you do have to sign up for a PayPal account if you are purchasing a subscription. PayPal is one of the subscription payment methods we offer on SubHub, so know this to be the case from our own experience.

    • Thanks Mark

I was afraid that was going to be the answer! Was hoping otherwise.

Will have to revert back to single payment options.

      Thanks for your reply.
  • Yep, a pain I know...
  • Does anyone have a subscription button directly on their site for me to test?
