Hey guys, im wondering about your opinion on .club Domains?

I currently have one in the dating niche but haven't started ads for it yet.

Cost me like 3$ and its a very good domain for the price.

Is there a reason why they are so cheap? Reason i got it is because of paid ads instead of SEO

Cheers.

It might be perfectly suitable for your purpose, but will probably have low resale value, and some people wouldn't want to start a business (of any kind) on a domain-name of which the .com extension already belongs to someone else.

Domains like ".club" and ".zone" might be attractive/appropriate for individual, specific purposes, of course, but it's hard to think of them as having much "value" just in their own right, as domain-names.

It depends how you look at it. The bottom line is that it's all part and parcel of the "artificial business" of domain-registration. It's not really a "free market" (though resales are).

I don't think anyone can criticize you for buying one for $3, though, if you like it. I just probably wouldn't put a business on it, if the .com belongs to someone else.

Personally I stay away from novelty TLDs like that, and I think most people agree with me. They just don't instill trust or a valuable brand. If at all possible, go with a .com, even if it would be a slightly "worse" domain name.

It's a hard decision now to build up a brand using these type of domains. It's not certain they will ever take off, and if they do it will take many years.

It won't be an easy transition for people to get used to these type of domains. So for now i would still suggest only to get .com if you're serious about building a brand.

Personally, I'd prefer a .com as it's the "trusted" thing. But, if the domain is as good as you're saying, you can go ahead. they are some successful sites even with weird domains!

The time for .club will come. I'm 100% certain. But it is a good 10+ years into the future before .club is as acceptable as an equivalent .com.

.com is still the way to go. Anyone who types your domain name is going to automatically add .com to it without thinking. We are all programmed that way. The traffic that you will lose could potentially account for far more lost revenue than the few bucks you will save by using something other than .com.
