Complete Web Sites For Sale!

Good enough?

There's no auction system on this but someone just told me they sold a site in the WSO section for a couple thousand not too long ago.

Might be interesting to try this out.

Guess you could just have people post their offer in the thread?

Highest offer wins?

  • It definitely sounds cool to me, but most members of the forum are fellow internet marketers/site flippers and not site buyers. Maybe it will all change. Or you could start an auction site with the link juice of the forum?

Ah I see what you're saying now. Took me a minute to figure that one out. I deleted my other post.

Not sure about that tough, there are people here buying sites and building networks of their own. Probably far more than you would think..

  • Excellent, and , idea Allen!

I have a feeling this new section is going to take off big time over the next few weeks and months!

Thanks but it wasn't my idea :-)

I keep seeing threads with members saying we should do this here. I might buy some sites myself if they are related to a product I'm putting the finishing touches on.
  • Allen, sounds good, is this for complete sites with domain name which is for 1 person, a website which has content and is being sold to say 100 people for $17 a throw or both?

I would say both...as long as it's sites.

However, if someone is selling more than one for a set price I think they might be better off putting it in the main WSO forum. (except for maybe right now with that big link at the top of the forum :-)

  • I think Justin Brooke did this successfully. I will try soon.

    Thanks for the notice Allen.

UPDATE: Oh yeah one more thing. I think you should put the thread or section of this section more publicly instead of inside the WSO. Just my 2 cents.

    • Not that this is a bad idea, and te market is huge, but there are places that sites can be sold without any fees. In order to pay a $20 listing fee, your site would need to actually sell, and for an amount of at least $50 to make the excercise worthwhile.

      Just my $20 worth

  • I've been waiting for this. I knew it would come. I've already sold sites/URLs via sig file and WSO but an area dedicated to it is GREAT.

    • George,

I think I actually tried to buy one of your sites a couple years ago through a sig link or a WSO you had running!

Someone beat me to it and it was a damn good niche. I don't think she ever did anything with it though... bummer.

  • LOL,

Thanks for the mention JoeCool. I've been holding on to another name just as good. I might put it up on the new section, then again considering the name is on site flipping I just might use it as my flagship listing site for the new forum section.

Anyway, I never have been good at doing thing on other forums like site point and have wanted this for a long time. Allen's announcement made my day.

I'm going to use this section a lot.

  • Excellent idea Allen, with enough publicity this could get very popular.

I can't see a link to it on the main WF page though, or is it just me?

  • I have purchased HUNDREDS of sites from the warrior forum.
  • Brilliant. I can't wait to give it a shot as soon as I've got something list-worthy. I can see me using it a lot.

A round of applause for Allen. No, forget that - too ordinary. A square of applause with tassels on each corner
  • Nice idea. Just a question Allen:

Can i sell my supadupa "health network" of 2 sites? or i need to open 2 slots?

  • Very nice!

I like the ability to find resources here on the Warrior Forum. For some reason I have more trust in those who are here and have been here a while than any other site. Perhaps its the culture here.

This will be a great place to buy or sell sites.
  • Also wondering if I can list more than 1 site in a thread - mine are not related to each other.

    • Great news, said that this would be a good idea for the WF in a number of threads - good to know others thought it too!

I shall certainly be trying this and LMC's site early next week.
  • I think this is an awesome idea and a perfect fit for the WF.

First thoughts: There's definitely a chance to position this place as the market where your site will be looked at by people who really do know its money-making potential and will pay accordingly. As well as people who really can take a non-performing site and turn it around, so will be open to that too.

Just a great idea all around.
  • I agree with Harry. Done well this marketplace can turn into something serious. Why? Because people here understands what is crap and what is quality. Besides there is an IM vibe that simply doesn't exist in other forums. Probably makes selling some types of Internet businesses easier since people understand what's really being offered.

  • I look forward to seeing how this develops. I love buying blogs.
  • Hey -

Great! This can be a perfect solution to the current problems. WF has the audience with pocket deep enough to buy some of the biggest sites there.

Allen, I had a suggestion. To make it easy for the buyers to crawl through, maybe you could add thread prefixes such as "Established site", "Startup" and set some criteria and people accordingly choose their thread prefix.

    Thanks!

  • What about domain names alone?

If we're going to be buying and selling whole websites then how about the domain names themselves or is that already happening through WSO's?

  • If you could integrate an auction style script somehow that would be choice. Otherwise a proper format would include minimum offer price and a BIN price -- as well as a fixed length of sale so that bids (if the BIN is not used) don't go on forever.
  • Good Idea... you have the audience for it!

    Look forward to it.
  • The website section is a very good addition to this forum.

What I would suggest is move all web related WSO's to this section.
Example social bookmarking, link building, web designing, logo creation etc.

Another thing is that we may need 2 sections for websites as well. 1 for plr or turnkey websites and other for unique content sites.

For domains ( if this section is going to be added) it would be better to have both the auction and fixed price option available to the thread creator.

One thing that needs to be done is refining the posting guidelines for these sections.

    • When people sell websites or domains on the basis of revenue earned they need to provide statistics in the form of screen shots.
    • They need to post the date of creation and expiry of the domain name.
    • They need to specify if the template rights are transferable if the theme used in the website is a paid one.

I know that the $20 fee will put most scammers at bay but still the posting guidelines suggested above will act as an extra layer of security to the members interested in buying.

    Revolves
  • As far as the auction format, if you really wanted your sale to be an auction, list it on eBay then link to that auction from your Warrior Ad. To make it truly "special" to Warriors offer a significant discount coupon to be used at checkout.

  • Can we also sell domain name only?

    • This is good, I just noticed the sell your site link yesterday. This will give IMers another option to ebay or sitepoint.

  • Allen,

This is def. a good move. Who better to sell your website or buy a website from than our fellow warriors!
  • I thought about this on Wednesday. Thanks for doing this Allen. You rock!
  • Hi Again,

What's great about this also is that it's a product or service that does not have to come with a pedigree of guarentees or proof of income (unless you are selling on the basis of income)

A buyer will immidiatly know "I love that domain name and or website." Or not.

Also domain transfer is proof of acceptance. Paypal won't be so likely to settle disputes in favor of serial refunders. At least I hope this is true.

I see so many benefits for us with this new section.

    Thanks again Allen,

    George Wright
  • Allen,
I have an additional question in addition to the domain name only questions - what about providing hosting along with the site? Given that hosting only is not allowed in WSOs.
    Just curious.
    thanks,

  • awesome idea! I have read all the coments to this and people have brought up some valid and good points, so for the sake of not going over ground again, I say Cheers! Lets get it happening.
  • Great idea Allen

My 2 cents - I would like to see it have its own section separate from the WSO section. Then perhaps further divided into categories for 1. Start Up Sites 2. Established Sites 3. Sites where multiple copies of the site are sold.

I may try and list a site here and see how it goes.
    • [1] reply
    • I agree with that. See... if we put the sites in the WSO part, then we're decreasing the above the fold number of wso's. This might diminish the WSO forum value...

Hope this make sense. Can't talk today.

  • Cool idea. It is timely.

I know this is going to give
birth to a full fledged auction
    site marketplace.

    Bravo!
  • Sitepoint may have some competition now.
