Sick & Tired of Wordpress: Any Alternatives to Wordpress Membership Scripts

I've had it... Everytime I turn around, there's an issue with our WordPress sites. If it's not being hacked, someone is attempting to login at a rate of 50,000 times per minute.

We have every imaginable security feature installed and enabled and we've managed without getting hacked for 3 years. But these constant attempts are loading up our server and we're starting to feel it.

We're constantly having to stay ahead of these guys and it's time consuming and cost money... I'm considering abandoning WordPress to minimize these attempts...

Are there any alternatives to these standard Wordpress Membership scripts/software... I'm looking for non-wordpress type setups... Any advice or feedback is appreciated!

  • I stopped using WP membership plugins back in 2009 due to performance issues. I tried one recently and although it was good, it added a significant amount of load to my server. I like to keep my front end sites running quickly to keep the Google SEO monster happy.

    I've been using Nanacast.com to process my payments, offer upsells, deliver downloadable files, handle affiliates and host my memberships (via browser or iTunes) since then. They integrate with Amazon S3 and all files/videos have expiring links.

    Note: I am a Nanacast affiliate and a customer and I am obviously biased in recommending them.

    The only other option I can recommend is Amember, but it was a pretty techy installation back in '09. I'm not sure how much it has changed since then.
  • Yes i have had some of my wordpress sites hacked too some time (these were sites i forgot about so no big deal but still), that's why i would never consider building a big project using wordpress.

    There are a lot of great php membership scripts, i can't recommend from personal use as we have built our own, but i'm sure other warriors can recommend a good one.

    PS: i have heard many good things about amember as mentioned above.

    • Drupal and Drupal Commerce/Uber Cart - Drupal out of the box provides for membership type functionality and adding in a commerce module will allow you to take payment. The more I play with Drupal the more impressed I am but what it can do.
  • One of my favorite membership/site builder software programs is FusionHQ Internet Business Platform

    It's a full service solution and I use it personally on several membership sites with very little issues. There is a slight learning curve, but once you figure it out - it rocks!

  • Thank you all for the replies. I will look into those options tonight. I'm at a point where change is necessary. I enjoy WordPress, but it seems the bigger and more known your website gets, the more problems... I can't take it anymore :-)
