Should I sell a product or be an affiliate first?

I get this kind of question a lot from some people getting into Clickbank. They want to create their own products but they haven't been able to understand the basics of affiliate marketing yet.

Should I sell a product or be an affiliate first?

I think you should get ahold of understanding being an affiliate first. Get the gist of it. Get your feet wet. And then when you find your niche, you can start selling as a product creator.

What do you guys think?

I would say it's best to create your own products first.

A lot of people will immediately say "But newbies don't have any earning proof!"

To which I would reply: Who said anything about the "Make Money" niche/market?

    Just my humble $.02.

Unless you already have a good idea for a product from your personal experience and know how to implement it, I agree.

Agreed. It doesn't have to be in that niche.

I think if you have a solid idea for a product, then it's ok to start off with a product first. But if you don't, and you are starting off from scratch, being an affiliate will get you started quicker than trying to come up with a huge product blueprint, marketing plan, etc.

Being an affiliate does have it's advantages. You get to see what people are actually buying and spending their money on. This can prevent you from creating a dud product that people don't want.

I would have to say Affiliate first, if you don't want to deal with all the headaches creating a product.

If they are new, Clickbank is the last place you want to launch a product. Without a big price tag, expensive copy, a dozen down sell, upsell, oto's, nobody will promote it

Always have them start with w+ or JVzoo first. Clickbank is a big jump, and different affiliates. Most of the stuff on Clickbank, sits there collecting digital dust and fees.

Affiliate marketing FIRST! There are lots of people attempting product launches and you can just check it out on JVZOO and WarriorPlus affiliate offer sections. You will notice that over 95% of them make under 10 sales.

It's just not worth it. Rather spend time promoting other products that has already has a funnel in place.

^ I completely agree with this. If you start with your own product then you likely won't have any list to begin with, and it's easy to get discouraged at the beginning. Use affiliate marketing to start building your list, pay attention to how established product creators launch things, and hone your skills for your own launch. Build your product in the mean time!

You can always start as an affiliate. Learn the business and then sell the product yourself.

I would also say affiliate first that way you see how the whole process works that way after you can create your own product and start to really make some good online cash.
