Captured email address - When/how to follow up with sales pitch.

Hi there,

I have started to build up my list. My question is how soon after capturing an email address do I follow up with a sales pitch?

Do I continue for a couple of weeks sending some more free stuff?

Or is it a case of once you capture an email address you then immediately follow up with a sales pitch?

Also, when following up do you do the pitch in the actual email to them? Or do you put a link in the follow up email to the sales page?

Hope this makes sense I'm just trying to get my head around it

Thanks

The key to email marketing is to not make your pitch look like a pitch. Tell a story, and just gradually throw your link into the story a few times. Don't pitch people.. you'll end up in their spam bin faster than you can say "holy @#$% what just happened?".

And to answer your question... immediately!

You have to train the people on your list to open your email. If you let them forget about you, then you've lost the battle. Email them early, and often.

bryan that is an excellent reply man...

Even in your welcome email you should
have a soft sell too, all rap around the
      thank you message...

Every single message you send could
and in someway make the subscriber
do something, either click a link to your
blog, to a salespage, video, conference
      call, something...

You are training them to react the way you want...

    Hi,

Looks like you are in the weight loss niche...

pitching comes in a few levels...

    I love the subtle pitching...soft-selling.

It can be a form of a blog post which you did stating a problem
and you recommend a recommendation (affiliate product)
at the end of your post.

And you can send your list an email with the blog post url.

    Other ways are:
    1. writing the content in an email
    2. direct promotional...(but this can be done once you have built trust with your subscribers and must be done with care.)

Always add value to your list and promote once every 2 weeks...this is my guideline
and you need to test it out for your own list.

    How big is it now?

    Cheers,
    John

Thanks a lot for the comments, from what I understand its about building trust and realationships with list, while incorporating opportunities for them to purchase products.

List is still small at the moment but I am working on building it everyday.
