Amazon Affiliates in relevant country

Hi all

New to the forum, but admittedly have been lurking a while.

As the title says, If I was pushing Amazon products as an affiliate. I currently direct them to amazon.(my country). Is there a way I could direct them to Amazon so if the user was in a different country; it would automatically direct to that country?

Or am I pushing the limits to greed?

    Yes.

People normally do this with IP-recognition software built into their websites, so that visitors are automatically directed, on clicking the link, to their own local Amazon supplier (of which you're an affiliate, so that you always earn the commission).

If you use WordPress for your site design, there are add-on gadgets you can install which do this automatically.

Another, slightly more cumbersome way is to give a variety of multiple links for each item. ("Click here to see this item at Amazon US/Canada/UK" etc. - being three different links.)

No, far from it, in my opinion. I think what you're asking relates to something basic and fundamental that every Amazon affiliate probably ought to be doing routinely.

The web is international. I certainly wouldn't want to limit my Amazon commissions to one country. There's a whole world out there.

Yes! you are pushing the limits to greed.

    But seriously.

My feeling is that the US is such a big market you should build your site on a .com domain and just sign up with the US affilliate program at Amazon.com. Yes, a small proportion of visitors wont be able to buy but I don't think you will lose that much money.

"A small proportion"?! You mean it seriously? I don't know what to say, except that my experience is very, very different.

"Plug-in" ... that's the word I was looking for! Sorry, I'm not a WordPress user, myself, and can't help with this question. Someone who knows much more about it than I do will doubtless respond, soon enough.
