What are some helpful tips and terms that could help me in this business?

    Welcome to the world of self employment.
    •Believe in yourself
    •Never give up , you don't fail until you say so.
    •Don't get shiny object syndrome. (jumping from market to market trying to make a quick buck)
    •Realize that at this stage. Do it for yourself, not others, and not the money. This is not a get rich quick type of life style.
    •Don't get stuck when you are overwhelmed, take action and put your foot in the door. Never be afraid to fail, it will provide you with some of the most valuable knowledge you will ever acquire during your career.

    I agree, the first thing to learn is that you need to take action if you want anything to happen in this business.

    That being said, if you found a method, don't give up too easily, you usually don't see immediate results. If you believe that you will buy one product after another and achieve nothing in the end.

    Also, learn about these 3 things if you're just starting out:
    - Listbuilding / Setting up a sales funnel
    - Traffic generation
    - Conversion optimization / testing

    You can't go wrong if you learn about these things.

    First of all, you're in the right place if you're interested in learning all about internet marketing! Spend your time getting to know this forum. Don't buy anything until you know how this forum works. Make sure you use the search option to find answers to your questions.

    Furthermore:
    1. Be ready to be overwhelmed with information when you first start out.
    2. Decide what aspect of the int. marketing industry you want to work in
    3. Take action
    4. Be prepared to fall on your face a couple of times
    5. There are many methods & strategies that work, you just need to pick one and excell at it. This takes time.
    6. Know that whatever you decide to do, it's about KNOW,LIKE &TRUST. People will only buy your products/services if they know you, like you, trust you.
    7. In most cases you need a domain & website
    8. The money is in the list.
    9. Stand out.
    10.Have fun!

      Find out your "WHY" the whole purpose of why
      you want to do this! and when you feel overwhelmed
      and thinking of throw in the towel ... remember your
      "WHY" and this will keep you on track.

      Pick only 3-5 people to follow and model
      what they're doing and as others said start
      taking action from the beginning...

    What business? Affiliate marketing? Ecommerce? Selling services? Selling own products?

    There are many types of businesses you can do online but since you didn't specify what type of business it is you have in mind, I'm gonna give you general advice, the biggest piece of which is:

    Stick to one method and persevere until it works for you.

    Too many newbies create an endless vicious circle in which they get stuck by jumping from one method to another. Find something that is proven to work and work hard until you succeed with it.

    For example, if you decide to use the affiliate niche sites plus SEO method, read as much as you can and then begin applying what you learnt to your business. Continue doing so till you reach the point where you are earning a good amount of money.

    Another piece of advice I'm gonna give you is avoid get rich quick schemes like the plague. Anything that promises you overnight riches or success is a get rich quick scheme.

      Oh god. Yes PLEASE stay away from those. They should change the name to "Get other people rich quick" schemes.

    Hi,

    Take some time to learn/understand what your options are as there are many ways to work/make money online.

    Try and choose something that will hold your interest.

    Devise an action plan & goals.

    Stick to your action plan.

    Sounds easy but the hard part is not getting distracted by all the offers you will receive.

    When you wrote "in this business" you are covering a lot of ground. There are many aspects to internet marketing and to narrow down what you want ot do you have to learn a lot of stuff. There are many methods of making money and lots to learn. There is a lot of good advice above in this thread. Taking action is important but don't take action just for the sake of doing something. Study and research a whole bunch to determine exactly what you want to try - then take action! Keep focused and do not let yourself become overwhelmed.
    Using this forum is a huge help and is an excellent resource. The search function can be your friend, but watch out for offers you do not need!

    It's an amazing world here; and you can do extremely well if you use your head and trust your instincts.

    Main thing: this business is about relationships. My advice would be to never forget this, whatever approach you take.

    Aim to become a SELLER as quickly as possible. When you buy, check out the creds of the seller. Sounds obvious, I know, but this forum will help you immensely with that.
