Why Do People Buy PLR Sites?

Hello all my friends,

I was going through the WSO's for the last month and found many of them selling PLR sites. It's ok for them as sellers because that's their business. But I want to know why people buy these PLR sites? 1 PLR site is being sold to say 50 or 100 people, so they are getting the same content, the same images and the same blog design. So, my question is why do people pay for buying these PLR sites? What is their goal to buying such type of sites?

PLR is crap, some people just think that they can cheat on the system and go ahead anyways.

The main thing with PLR is that the content is supposed to be changed before publishing. Just like with PLR articles and ebooks. The general rule is that the buyer is supposed to "spin" the content before they use it. I guess the same would apply to these PLR sites. It's not uncommon that site themes/templates/layouts would be used many times. However as far as the content and images, these items should be altered enough to pass as unique.

My guess would be the people who buy such sites have a streamlined method to do this, or are complete newbies. For me, it's easier for me to just create a whole new site than to fidget around with changing content on something pre-made. It must be the other way around for the people who purchase these sites. Just my guess. It's not for me.

PLR is not crap (in itself), but people can use them in crappy ways.

If the PLR site has lots of content, you could take those articles and simply plug them in as a ten day series on a niche you are interested in building a list for. You would want to customize the PLR emails to include references to your own site or product. This would be useful for anyone who wants the benefits of a subscriber list on a specific niche market but does not have the background. And, since you are using this via email, you should not have real concerns about optimization or ranking as all content is contained in the email.

Well for people who cannot afford to get someone to make them their squeeze page, sales page ect... it is a cheap method for them. They get a business in a box basically.

The thing is that you can edit PLR products the way you want, so it might be easier to edit a PLR website than to build a site from scratch.

That's the only reason i can think of.

That's a good reason, but nowadays with so many easy-to-edit themes like Genesis, themes from Themeforest, Woocommerce, etc. and one-click WordPress installs, building a site from scratch has become quite easy. So, that makes me wonder even more, that why people someone spend money in buying PLR sites?

Have you seen the prices they are charging? A few bucks for some of them that are built on Premium themes with great graphics. PLR content that has been well researched and only needs to be rewritten. A lot of the work of setting up a site is done and the rest is up to you to make a profitable site out of it.

No one says you should just buy them and let them sit as is, or if they do, they're lying.

I've seen the prices they charge vary from few bucks to around $25 to $35 per site. Even if one rewrites the content, the but they still need to install the site on their hosting account, import the data, activate the plugins, activate the themes and place the widgets accordingly. So, I guess it's quite the same work when compared to installing a Premium theme and writing content from scratch. Premium themes also come ready and one needs to just install and activate it, install and activate the plugins and place the widgets to their respective positions. So, that's what my question is - when same work has to be done, then why buy PLR site? This question is still making me confused.

It takes me a couple of minutes to install one with Duplicator. Then I'd outsource the rewriting and there is actually minimal configuration needed unless you add stuff to it to configure. But don't buy them if you don't like them. Buy a theme, write the content, install whatever and start promoting.

I've used a few PLR sites - I got them from a PLR membership site so got them for free (I paid for the membership though). They come with a wptwin clone file and as I have wptwin I can have the site uploaded and ready in about 2 minutes, no faffing about with images, banners, widgets, layout, plugins etc.

I delete all the content and add my own, but otherwise it's a really quick way to get a niche site up and running. Particularly for someone like myself who isn't very technical minded and would have difficulty getting the site to look nice.

It's easy to rewrite PLR. I've bought a lot of PLR and rewrote it relatively quickly. I can rewrite about 4 articles in an hour. I guess some people just put it up as is?

I use them all of the time like Suzanne mentioned above. That way you don't have to screw around finding a theme, then installing of the plugins and configure them and all of the tedious time consuming crap. Then go some place like iWriter and have them rewrite the articles for dirt cheap around your keywords and viola, in no time and for dirt cheap prices you can have a quality site ready to rock.

Some people want something ready to go out of the box without having to deal with the initial setup as maybe they don't have the time to do it themselves. I know when I create a new site, I tend to want everything to look just right and it can take hours. I can just buy a premade site for $30-$50 and save myself time I guess.

Because the sites are aimed at newbies who don't know any better. It is NOT OK to knowingly sell crap to the gullible and ignorant. It is the sort of WSO that should be blocked - IMHO. Othertwise how can IM marketing be regarded as anything other than a giant scam?

You seem to be a very ignorant little troll here.

#1. A product isn't a scam if it is exactly what it says it is and the customer knows what it is and wants the product. I have hundreds of happy customers, who got exactly what was described in everything I've sold here. A scam is where a customer is ripped off either by not getting the product at all or not getting what is promised in the sales letter.

#2. You're responses to most threads here are nothing but inflammatory troll spew. Examples below:

why are you asking a bunch of legally ignorant internet expoliters? See a lawyer
In a thread about poor spelling and grammar (due to English being a second language, no doubt, Fat Boy said:

My thoughts when i see this --

You want my money? You can't spell, talk or punctuate correctly? Go forth and multiply!! My hard money is not going to a pig ignorant moron like you.

Most PLR is junk but not all.

I find it useful to find new niche ideas. Simply go to PLR sites and start browsing. Endless new niches.

If you get well researched and written PLR it can save that mind numbing research and boring content creation for new niches.

Simply pluck the facts and data out the content and quickly re-write into something unique.

You can be competing in a new niche in hours instead of weeks or months.

Well guys, I've been folowing all your answers and after days, so what I understand is that PLR is actually not crap but rather a time-saving option for many people and gives a good start for people who don't have much tech knowledge. Also, since the research part is done with the keywords ready and the monetizing options ready, all people have to do is just rewrite the existing articles and then write fresh content and promote it. The main thing that takes time - the Research - is already done.

That's what PLR is all about.

I hope after taking into suggestion all your answers, I'm on the right track and have understood the meaning correctly. Correct me if I'm wrong or have concluded something wrong from the answers above.

PLR is business in a box, just spin the content using tools and publish/sell them as your own.
( say buy for $10 and sell for $1 to 100 people simple as that. )
Almost all plr is junk but some good plr is also there , you can give the plr as bonus
to some other existing funnel , give it to your list/membership site, generate backlinks to
    your main site .

PLR content can be great but you need to make the content your own. You won't get anywhere just using the same content everyone else is using.

PLR has value as it can be a great way to get your own product out their quickly. Much of the work in creating a product involves research, graphics, and sales copy. Much of this work is reduced by using a quality PLR product that allows you to make some simple tweaks instead of trying to start everything from scratch. Of course if you're putting your name on something to sell then you try to add enough value to make your customers happy. You should never just slap your name on something without making sure the quality is top notch.

People buy PLR sites because there is always money to be made by playing others off as fools. Noobs are especially susceptible to such trickery. They usually don't realize that they've bought something useless. It's like those companies that sell cookie cutter websites. They all look the same but their target vict- err market doesn't know any better.

When someone buys a PLR site, they know exactly, and I mean exactly what they are getting. They can actually see it before they spend their money and really, the price is normally ridiculously low ... compared to ..... drumroll please ... $97 for CashMoneyGoldmine!

Looks like your target vic doesn't know better. Here you say how you pay hundreds of thousands to get this message out and how you're losing money on this project. lol. What a crock.

You also might be wondering why this information isn't going to be just given away for free, and well, we're doing this for a few reasons. First, it seperates the serious students from the "Wantrepreneurs" that will never ever take action. It also costs us A LOT of money to host this program and run a dedicated server. Plus, we're spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to get this message out. In all reality, we're LOSING money on this project, and so it's only fair that we curb our losses by asking for a ONE-TIME fare
Your message to affiliates is different somehow. Looks like you plan on making mad money.

No one says the site needs to stay as it is at the time of sale. There's a big demand for PLR. You get the chance to buy a site that's basically ready to go. Of course, you might want to make some changes to customize it. You're not restricted to selling just the inventory the site came with. You can get massive loads of decent PLR & MRR products for relatively small money.

So you buy the site and then load it with fresh material and begin to promote it. I'd agree that a lot of PLR is pretty low quality. But that's just my opinion. There are plenty of people that want it. Buying a site and customizing it could be a very smart business model.

Business is about giving people what they want. I've sold lots of PLR & MRR products wholesale here on WF. People would get 3 to 5GB of varied material usually for around $20. It's not all junk. You buy a load of 3GB of material, we're talking videos, ebooks, courses, really nice Web templates, landing pages, graphics and lots of other stuff. I never took advantage of anyone. In fact the threads were loaded with comments from happy customers. Did very well with it for several years.

Why Do People Buy PLR Sites?
I've bought several to link to from existing related sites. The people who land on them never know they aren't original. They have all made back their small cost many times over.

Many people buy PLR sites and customize them according to their needs. All of them get the same theme and content, but later on they add new posts and features. Some edit the PLR articles that are posted on the site. Others delete them and upload unique content. You can keep the website for yourself, or sell it to others.

If it's for personl use, i don't see a single reason to buy a PLR site. The only 2 things that have value on something like this are:

    - Theme (but honestly, it should be too good / unique).
    - Images.

    Nothing else.

Can understand that someone who's new to this may buy PLR sites but if you think it twice, it doesn't make sense.

That if it's for personal use. Now, if you can resale / giveaway them...it's another story.

    Just my 2 cents.

There are PLR sites sold that simply crap - plain vanilla open source themes, no premium plugins, content that is so over-spun that it is not even remotely close to useable. If you are talking about these kinds of sites, then yes, you might as well do it from scratch yourself.

There are also people like Suzanne that create/sell PLR blogs that are a totally different 'animal' - high quality content, premium themes and plugins etc. I know because I have bought many of them over the years, and can vouch for the quality of her work. She has invested in the tools and resources that she uses, she delivers a quality product and takes pride in her work. And over the years, we've purchased many PLR sites from other trusted resources as well, and they are pretty much all making money.

It's a fast and cost effective way that gives you a FOUNDATION to built a quality site on, and it's a lot faster to rewrite a good article than it is to research the topic and write from scratch, if you know what you are doing.

Overall - this is one of those topics that has too many variables for a single right or wrong answer! It depends on the quality of the site you are buying....the price you pay for it and what the intended use is.
