I wrote articles for $5 to $10 a pop.

I first tried with some blogs, then I failed and joined oDesk, that was my first work to earn money online. Later I created my own website and started selling services through website.

This is actually true, I served almost 8 months in prison back in 1999. Before I went in to serve my time I put a couple links to some adult pay-per-click programs on my personal AOL page they had way back in those days. when I got out I had $90... I haven't looked back since or gone back to prison, so it's worked out well for me

I was, ehm, "bulk posting" on Yahoo! Answers, back in 2007 I think it was. It wasn't the first money I made online, but the first big money for sure. Was a lot easier to make money with similar schemes in those days

Create adsense blog and some blogs to promote affiliate link from clickbank and amazon.

My very first venture was advertising a Letters from Santa affiliate programs at ShareASale. I made $240.

I made my first $30 with paid surveys. I made my first $300 with Clickbank affiliate marketing. I also made over $75 with Textbroker. Now I mainly focus on affiliate marketing, product creation, and list building.

I made my first $50 for doing a smart form on a website. I still remember that to this day.

In the beginning I started with Google Adsense, back when it paid extremely well. I was earning a few thousand a month for putting content up on one of my websites.

I started by providing different type of services, it was hard at the beginning, but then it became easier with time just like anything in life.

I wrote for content mills and made a few dollars per day. I wasn't a prolific writer and have never been merely because I detest writing, but I had no choice as it seemed it was the easiest way I could make my first dollar online. It worked though. I've stopped writing articles, but I'm still making money online to this day.

My first sale was a (affiliate) penis vibrating ring. A friend suggested it to me, I advertised it on free classified ads sites and that's how my career online started.

In 1998 I was surfing the "internet" and came across something called "The Cookie Cutter".
It was an ad to make a fortune selling on the internet.
Well I thought If he can do it, I can do it too...

the sales page told the exact method,
which was simply sell the same exact thing to other people and keep the money.
hence the name, "Cookie Cutter"

posted a few free ads and sold 1 copy...lol...

First worth speaking of was selling mobile websites to small businesses. (I wouldn't recommend that as a good place to start today though.)

I had a friend over skype who had Pr5 and Pr6 websites and he told me if I sell homepage links for him for around $500-600 id get a cut from it. I spent a summer vacation at my grandmas bored everyday and I was making about $200 per day for 3 weeks!! I used that money for a down payment on a car

The first thing I did to make some money was to take a free resell right product, put up a sales page and sell it.

I used a free traffic exchange platform to promote and got my first $3.99.

I will never forget my first sale as I had limited html knowledge yet was able to put up a simple salespage.

of us in the Plug N Profits section of this forum got together and
built a downline. I got paid over $175 per month for over a year for
a $10 per month investment. We used traffic exchanges to get our

I tried so much I'm not even sure what the very first thing was. I think it was a quit-smoking blog which made about $1 from Amazon in its first month. Didn't work out in the end, but showed me the possibilities.

Thanks, very interesting discussion. By too much hard work, I had gotten about USD 25 by freelancing work. Of course it is a small amount now, but it was spoon of gold during that time. I was very pleased after getting this amount by my work.

I made an online file storage site way back in 1999. The site went viral and I started receiving thousands of new registrations a day. Didn't know how to handle a site this large and had to shut down untimely

For me, it was the free money making niche. I've been with it ever since.

My journey started with when i first designed a landing page for a local client who was into airport limousine rental service business. Since then i have been working as a freelance web designer and developer.

Built a site in a 'weird' niche back in the days when .com/net/org domain names were king and you could rank with $50 within a few days by buying looped profile links.

Found a 23,000 searches keyword EMD along with 41,000 and 15,000 secondary keywords and ended up with a ton of traffic after a few weeks.

Sold the site for $2200 after about a week's worth of work on it because someone bought it for the traffic and I didn't want to stay in that niche.

Sadly it's not so easy to do that any more lol.

It was also when I didn't know any better and my content was literally taken from other articles and I just reworded each sentence. In my defense I didn't realize how crappy and unethical that was because I was a complete newbie.

For me, it was arbitrage from the very beginning and it's still the same as my first priority of making money online. However, I have diversified a lot since then and count on a few other modes of earning too.

I set up a mini landing page, used google ads and sold some clickbank product for $10.I was so excited about my first sale 'on the internets' =D As many already mentioned, if only I had the brain I have now.

btw, I never actually got the money for my first sale.. You need sales from 5 different people to be able to withdraw your balance on clickbank, I didn't even get to that lol

I was a freelance writer pimping out my services on all the major freelance sites then I kept noticing that people were ordering like 50 articles and paying me a crap load for them so I started looking into blogging and Internet Marketing and boom I ended up here.

Sold a book about magic tricks which I wrote, for $27, there was no such thing as paypal or an easy way to receive money back then, the $27 was sent to me by check in the post.

I sent the product but never cashed the cheque, I took it out with me to prove to my friends that I wasn't crazy.

This was about 15 years ago.

Through direct facebook marketing. I started marketing to groups who were directly in my niche. Posted ads in those groups, people started adding me on facebook. Then I talked them into buying affiliate products that could help them. Pretty tedious. But made about $300 over my first month. Now I systemize my marketing and in the process of creating products myself, and getting affiliates to sell for me.

Made a sale on clickbank over a cheap blog that I created. first sale like 60$, feels good man.

I sold a clickbank affiliate product with adwords and finally made a profit after months of testing and fine tuning. Been having fun ever since.

Porn. Made good money, but then MindGeek and the tubes came around and wiped out 90% of the industry. Most of the porn gurus are now sleeping on the street. Some are now "media buying" gurus or have some other stick. Lucky, I have a very off-line biz that is stable. I'm itching to start a new project on the web. I enjoy being a webmaster, but I'm not interested in hawking affiliate products.

Then It hit me that I had to make much more before I could get it...

I used to dumpster dive for computer parts at a nearby university, then I would sell what I found on a local Usenet group.

Later, while living near and attending the same university, I signed up for Clickbank, got some affiliate links for "how to get girls" products, cloaked those affiliate links using shorturl.com, then I used the university's printers to print out flyers with the cloaked urls and I hung those flyers all over campus. That resulted in some sales that made me realize the possibilities of making money online.

I must say something about shorturl.com. My affiliate links that I cloaked almost 15 years ago with Shorturl.com are still working.

Back in 2001 I used PPC to drive traffic to a make money sales letter and made $100 per sale. Cost per click was $0.01 and I was up to 3k+ per day until 9/11 hit. I forgot the name of the PPC network but Yahoo acquired it shortly after that time period.

I started out offering social media packages!
Basically included a website, facebook, twitter, and I would teach them how to maintain and automate everything. Than I turned to building a list and selling my own products Affiliate marketing is crazy.. The possibilities are endless online.

I tried a lot of random things a while ago and didn't make anything from it. Then my sister and I created a website about the Myers Briggs Personality Test, and then forgot about it. We actually have a lot of traffic, just not sure where to go with it.

The first money I made was doing transcription work then Fiverr stuff.

Remember Associated Content? I wrote a good 200 articles for them at around $3-4 each, and a few in the beginning that did $8-10.

I sold non-tangible video game items from diablo 2 via ebay; made a few thousand from the game in about a year at age 16.

I made my first money online on Fiverr. Cant remember the exact amount but it reinforced my belief that there was money to be made online and I have never looked back.

I made $300 from selling iPads from one site to another - dropshipping. Sold 6 of those to make the profit of $300 ( converted from pounds to dollars) and then invested in a project that doubled it.

I sold iTunes gift cards to non American iTunes countries ... was massive money as local iTunes store had absolutely. Nothing .yet everyone had an iPhone or Ipad. I made $4000 for 3 months through plimus until it was discovered to be selling illegal iTunes cards when the Chinese had cracked the iTunes algorithm ... but learned a lot in a very short time

I created an ebook about a method I was using to make money in real estate. I was great for awhile and then the method became too widely known and used.

My first project was a blog in the travel niche. Managed to get it to $500 revenue monthly before selling.

Good thread. Nice to see that people still remember the 1st sales they had online. I think my 1st was a clickbank product that I got $77 for from writing an article. I think that was the only one I made from it though & wish now I had spent more time building up my SEO.

Like many others I started writing. I started providing content articles on various sites like elance and then moved into copywriting before deciding to try doing what some of my clients were doing - creating businesses and selling their own products online.

I actually started me an opt-in page and started email marketing. I am doing very well now and i'm making so much progress in this business.

I am so glad that I started marketing online because this has made me more progress than anything else that I've ever done

In 1994 I was 9 years old and made a website with HTML tutorials. "Proudly written with Notepad.exe". Within a few years I added a mailing list about building websites where I sold sponsorships for $50/week, mostly to web hosts, and some banner ads to the site through TeknoSurf AdWave (much later became advertising.com). Back then, the web was much smaller and the ad revenue from a small site much more significant. I was able to save up and buy myself a computer, and pay for cable internet for the house before high school.

By high school I had also taught myself web programming, first CGI scripts in Perl and C, then later PHP and JavaScript. I freelanced for $20/hour to save up money to go to college. I probably put away a few thousand before I gave up freelancing to develop and sell my own products instead.

I bought a designer top from tk maxx and flipped it on eBay for a big profit. That led to me selling clothes on eBay as a business->drop shipping clothing on a website. Nowadays I make most money from affiliate marketing.

The very first thing I signed up for that I actually turned a profit on was filling out surveys, with a company called survey scout. I did it for a week and made a few bucks, but certainly not enough of a "bang for your buck" experience to keep going with it.

I have no idea if that company is even online nowadays but that was my first experience turning a profit using the internet. I have definitely come along way since those days

My very first method of making money online was article marketing. I started working online in 2007, and article marketing was still a viable method to make good money online.

I used to write 4-5 articles per day and submit them to all of the top directories. I bought a domain and redirected it to a Clickbank product. It was in the "anxiety/panic attacks" niche. I would pick a Clickbank product and then write 50 articles related to that niche plus one product review and once I got them all accepted I would pick another product and do the same.

I'll never forget the exhilaration I felt when I made my first commission! It was for $66.39. I remember thinking that if I could make 1 sale a day I would be very happy.

Unfortunately I don't think this is a viable way to make money anymore. Now I'm into list building and I can honestly say that I like it much better than article marketing!

I made $37 using Adwords direct linking to a product on Clickbank! Made my first $100 using a blogger blog using Adsense but took months to accumulate. Gone are the good old days!

My first dollars online came from Google Adsense on a site that got free SEO traffic.

Next dollars came from selling an original ebook that I authored.

Next came some selling of Amazon affiliate products and a few attempts at selling other affiliate products.

I made my start right here in Warrior Forum in 2007, selling articles for $10 a pop. That quickly led to ebooks, VA work, site copy, and an a local search company in...Las Vegas? Funny how it all works out.

I started with my passion (old and classic Buicks). This was back before Google was popular and it would take 6 months to get listed on the dmoz directory. I placed a banner at the top of my hand written (in notepad - way before wordpress was even invented) website advertising car manuals on CD. I received a cheque (check for you Amoricans) for $3.62 and it made my day, week, month and career. It was the first time I realised that money could actually be made online and here I am 11 years later still proving it works.

The first real money I made online was by offering services on Fiverr and doing transcription tasks on Amazon's MTurk.

However, the first real money I made with IM was quite recently, with CPA Marketing/Bing Ads and Clickbank/Facebook Ads!

Like many others, I started out with a free WordPress blog and Google Adsense. I still remember how enthusiastic I was about learning WordPress, SEO and Internet marketing in general. It was a great experience overall.

I placed a gig on fiverr and i made $4. Lol. that was my first money online... and the beginning.

First thing I done was reselling services, Graphic design etc. Then eventually I moved onto CPA, earned a bit more and spent that money running ads. Now I'm hitting the higher paying clients and I still can't believe how I make more than most of my friends and family without leaving the house. (I do leave the house lol, but you know what I mean)

In 2003, I started selling a 3-ring binder thrift store course on ebay, and made about $200 a month. I've also done retail arbitrage on ebay. After treading water on ebay for years, I switched to Amazon to sell used books. Now I sell multiple products on Amazon full-time.

The first money I ever made ONLINE was for a local offline customer. I was charging him $600/mo (paid via paypal subscription), to help him with local marketing...I think he stayed because he valued my insights more so than I was actually turning him a profit...irony.

I also sold via ecommerce and affiliate stuff.

Now working moreso on coaching, building personal proof, and helping others replicate my success.

Man, you did more with that 350$ than I did for the first whole 1-2 years I dive into internet marketing.

1st program I used was something called Profitlance I think which shows you many ways to earn a full time income from the internet. It somewhat worked but that took so energy and at that time I was not able to invest any money so sales were hardly coming in.

I was making small blogs with unique articles, hoping to bring lot of traffic and monetize from adsense.

The first thing ever I sold online was a mobile phone on Ebay back in 2004. And because that surprised me, I started to sell more and more. And 1 year later I was one of the few powersellers in France. But Ebay doesn't scale so I stopped with it in 2006. And recently I picked up my online ventures again, but now with ebooks..

I offered backlinking services in another forum. Work great for a while.

Personally, I started out getting scammed! But right after that I found my way into article writing back in 2008. I started out writing for pennies on a certain forum that, needless to say, I don't visit anymore.

It's been a long road. I very much got into "IM" for a while and did OK. But so much of it is hype or just getting others to buy into what you're offering so they can sell the same thing. Not my forte. These days, I mostly work for one client doing a bit of everything... writing, Amazon product management, Photoshop, Wordpress... you name it! But hey, I do it from home, as little or as much as I want and I make more per hour than my hubby who works full time at a name-brand manufacturing facility in town (More than double minimum wage).

Bottom line - where ever or however you start, keep at it and you'll eventually find your calling.

I made my first $20 sale with the first website I had selling video tutorials on making money with Craigslist.

About 3 years ago back when Beats by Dre were still very popular, I spent $18 for a pair of fake ones, and sold them on Ebay for $200 heh.

My first income ever came through spamming people with my affiliate offers on SFI a2a.

I was making around $20+ every 3 days from the PIPs program until i got blacklisted on a2a and the income stopped.

I waited till i cashed my $100+ and discovered the business was real and that opened my eyes to the huge untapped opportunities online.

Since then i never looked back and extended my business to adsense and many others.

I worked few hours as an Internet Search Administrator and made about $70.

Around same time, I worked as a CrowdWorker and made $0.55. Thankfully, they rejected my work and I didn't have to waste my time making nothing in return of time I invested.

Now, looking forward to start some website.. and possibly make some money.

The first thing I did was copy someone's BizOpp landing page about a pipe manufacturer that made money with Google. That earned me $100 profit after 15 minutes of "work".

Then I switched to email submits on Facebook, and that still makes me a lot of money.

boy, that is what got me going or should I say kept me going in this industry....

I had no idea what I was doing. I was using ppv traffic and sending it to adsense ads. I'd spend 20 bucks a day and make over $400. Per day remind you! I went out and bought a nice Audi A6 s-line. Very nice car. I didn't know anything about re-investing or growing it. I just spent it. So I cashed out for a few months and banked some pretty good doe till my account got terminated. I wasn't treating it like a business. I had other things on my mind at the time. I should have kept myself up to date on googles policies. Heck, I don't know if I even read them. Just started sending some traffic and got paid. To me it was as simple as that.

Anyways... What a learning curve it has all been. After that I really understand the power we have here at our fingertips all based around supply and demand and using this tool of the internet.

I've never slowed down since...

This industry has changed and allow me to become the person I want. I learned how to grow and work harder on myself than on my job and once I got that my life and Internet career changed.

i made $35 from a website weblo....now weblo.com is down.....but at that time during sign up one can make a celebrity page and sell it to other user...we also earned some money by visitor of that page....it was some can of virtual world where we could also buy cities, properties,etc.

I did Project Payday. And I bought a website capture template from this guy online who was making money and I used it and made about $150-200 before I simply stopped using it. People would sign up their emails and I'd make like $1.50 per and it was quick money.

I used Clickbank and marketed video game strategy guides, and guides on how to cure acne. Believe it or not, it actually worked, I couldn't believe people bought this stuff. Then I realized, there's a customer for every product online.

For me it was my product launch. People got on board and it has generated 6-figures back then. I've been creating niche products since then because that's where the money is. I'd recommend ANYONE who's struggling to create his own products, that's the easiest way to offer VALUE to the marketplace and get people to pay for your knowledge & expertise.

My first income was also selling premade websites and I made few 100 dollars on that.
