Is the "Learn Guitar" a profitable niche?

Absolutely a money maker niche.

Playing the guitar is an expensive hobby, even to get started. I know because I play.

A huge majority of novices already invested money in a guitar, and are naturally more than willing to invest some money to learn to play it.

BigNate, there's a whole world out there full of rabid markets. Don't be trapped within these walls... some of these other markets are making big money. Fitness by itself is one huge industry bursting at the seams with cash.

"Make money online" is only rabid because of the accessibility of supply. Ads, etc are all readily accessible. But that only means that your profits can be eroded just as quickly. Hence "launches" again and again. Sure, they can make money but it can be a hit-or-miss thing and you need a lot of preparatory work to have a good start. There are many other niches out there where your product can last far longer and won't die out in swarms of rivals.

I thought you read my post BigNate... (it's in my sig again). Really, go through those steps and you won't even have this problem here. You should be thinking of how to leverage existing platforms by now.

Where can you find your seekers?

YouTube! Obviously video is going to be one. People who enjoy guitar! What are their age groups/genders/etc? Look at the existing blogs, pull out Quantcast or Alexa. Think from the perspective of a guitar enthusiast who knows nothing about playing guitar. Follow these people on forums or anywhere you think you can find them.

If you can leverage existing platforms, you can minimize the time taken to build your own platform. Then just follow the steps and you'll be on your way.

Have a good idea. Maybe just focus in a little more in detail... generation, male vs female, etc.

Who is your ideal customer - because that 14 pages can always be amplified with some tips on how to play songs that are likely to interest them.

If I were you I would make some videos and then sell. I don't think a 14 page product in a practical field would be enough but you can always try. I would suggest that you should create a few Guitar lessons and upload them to YouTube. Then you can forward the viewers to your website for the complete lessons.

Definitely is a money making niche - I used to know the owner of a leading "teach guitar" course and have helped some others launch membership sites in this area.

Two words of advice from my experience...

1. Think about how you can target "specific" demand - for example, an ebook on playing guitar like Blues Giants (BB King, Eric Clapton, etc...) or Bluegrass or Jazz, etc... You can re-use much of the basic material, but then cover specific chord progressions, keys and soloing specific to certain genres and well known names

2. Learn to master the marketing - so many people want this information, but typically people who have tried to enter this niche (outside of the obvious leaders) have done a poor job of targeting keywords, jv/affiliate marketing, traffic generation, conversion, etc... Work on a good sales funnel and then you can pump up your traffic using paid and/or JV traffic

  One of my sites is in the 'learn guitar' niche and I give away a short ebook that teaches the basic chords needed to play alot of different tunes.
  
  What I'm making money on is selling memberships to guitar lesson sites like Jamplay, Guitar Tricks etc. Personally I wouldn't think selling an ebook with OTO's would be sufficient, although it could be good for lead generation.

  I've hit it from a bunch of angles and the only real money maker I've found is guitartricks.com. They pay minimum $25 CPA. They have killer promotional material available for affiliates and they have dedicated affiliate support.
  
  Yes, CB membership sites occasionally sell but nothing compares to GT. If you can get guitar lessons type traffic (video lessons, free lessons, lessons for beginners, etc) Gt will make money. BTW- they offer free lessons for name and email. If the prospect upgrades you get a commission.
  
  Of course this is only my opinion based on my personal experience, your mileage may vary.

I know people doing very well in this niche.

(Granted, that doesn't necessarily make it profitable for you, but it's at least a potentially profitable niche!).

If you look at "total niche turnover" that may be so. If you look at "average income per marketer involved in the niche", exactly the opposite's the case. Yes, there are fortunes involved in "MMO", but it's also the area in which most people fail.

Where do you have better chances: in a market with $1,000,000 turnover and 10,000 marketers, or in a market with $100,000 turnover and 100 marketers. To me, it looks like one of them might be ten times as good as the other. And it certainly isn't the "big market". What matters isn't the first number: it's the result after dividing the first number by the second number.

Big Nate, You can most certainly make money in the guitar lesson niche. Consider selling videos. They have a higher perceived value. Also, trying to learn guitar is easier when you can "see & hear" what your trying to learn versus just reading about it. You can fine tune your niche by narrowing it down to a specific genre (i.e. Blues, Rock, Country or Jazz).

This niche is super profitable. Make sure you have a quality product to offer if you're going to sell in this niche. Make the offer hot and desirable. It's simple ebook marketing. In my opinion, any niche is a profitable niche. That's why people are in it lol. You could exploit this niche and conquer if your marketing game is tight. I'd start with a few simple squeeze pages to see what the average opt-in conversion rate would be, and to see which squeeze page pulls the best. Then takeover.

Being a musician myself, I would want to be learning from videos not ebooks -- even more so if I am a beginner. The reality is there is so many free music lessons on Youtube these days. That's where you want to be to capture that market and get a following. Just sticking up an ebook won't do very well I don't think.

I'm a musician too, and definitely agree with this. If you can release it as a video series accompanied with eBook material, then you might have a real winner there. Maybe toss in some free musical scores, or some text to go over the more technical things like hand position, strumming etc to aid those videos.

Why not a profitable niche?
There are lots of product according to Learn Guitar in Amazon, Clickbank etc... and you can start promoting .... Or even create your own info product!
