Need advice for my 2 week old and 10k visitors a day website (Monetization & Hosting)

Hello warriors!

I started with a very low budget to test an idea I had a few weeks ago and made a brand new website in spanish about viral videos, it started with various topics and the "big" traffic came when I started posting about "Motorcycles"

This last week I passed the 10k visits a day mark without any paid advertising, and making around 35 to 45 dollars a day with AdSense

So far so good, but recently, I noticed the site crashes some times during the day when it reaches over 150 visitors in real time, and it showing me the "500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR" from Hostgator. droping down to around 70, then it works again, preventing the traffic to increase

For me, this is my first time ever to handle this amount of traffic. so my questions are:

1) "If" mi problem is about hosting,... is there a better hosting solution?
(Got a baby plan in Hostgator)

2) Is there another network I could use to monetize all this traffic other than adsense?
(Knowing that this is a spanish speaking audience who likes motorcycles)

My problem is that I can't find any related offer for that audience in that language, not even Clickbank products or CPA or PLR...

AdSense is great! and 40 dollars a day are great too!

but 40 dollars a day for over 10k visits a day!!!!??? I think it could be better but still don't know how

Any clues?
btw: I hope my english is clear

Armand.

First of all. Great job! you must have really found an awesome active market that likes what you are doing. What exactly did you do to have such a sudden huge increase in traffic?

Also, I would start by upping your plan on Hostgator to the next available size and take it from there. Im sure you would be able to contact their support and get things taken care of and squared away to ensure that you do not experience these crashes.

    Best of luck!

Thanks for the hosting tip, I didn't knew I could do that

Basically, I post 1 or 2 short posts a day with a video from youtube on just a few groups on facebook that are passionate about a certain niche, the trick is on the featured image of the post

I browse around youtube to find a funny video with an "interesting thumbnail" and lots of views, meaning that this video is "shareable-ready" in it's own genre (niche)

Always looking for that no "matter what niche is about" the video "must be fun" for that niche.

I open the video and look at the source code to find the "thumbnailURL"

Download the thumbnail image and edit it with an image editor that supports PNG files, then I place a "PNG play button" that looks exactly like the original play button of facebook videos over that image, save it, and use it as the featured image of the post.

That way, when people sees that on facebook, they are tricked to think they're clicking on an actual video on youtube,

And because they see the video first and the video is within their interest they are most likely to share it with their friends, and then it goes on and on and on...

Plus, I choose fun videos to keep a natural profile in FB because when you post fun videos people always give fun comments back in facebook and you can always reply with your own like in their comments or with a "Hahaha" or "LOL"... (you get the point...)

The Facebook play button is an ingenious little trick! I would love to checkout the site, PM me the URL so that you don't get kicked in the butt for "attempting" to promote yourself on the forum, lol.

Maybe time to change your signature from 'forever noob and proud' to 'graduated from being a noob and proud' Great work getting this going!

First off regarding Hostgator, we had the exact same problem When our money site got to 120 visits at the same time they simply couldn't handle it. We migrated over to BigScoots after reading a TON on the webhostingtalk.com forums about the best hosting with the best support.

Their support is like magic, not only will they log in and fix things if there are ever errors, they fix issues and close the ticket faster than it takes to get someone on HG's live chat. Not to mention they migrated the site over and have helped us speed the site up a TON.

Now we have had over 600 simultaneous users on the site and it is loading about 150% faster than when we were on HG. We went with their VPS plan but even their shared solutions are leaps and bounds better.

If you are serious about this site as a business, talk to the guys at BigScoots... Tell them Melanie and Miles mentioned them, if you do reach out.

Regarding monetization, I think you really need to get into the mind/shoes of your average visitor... Are they men? women? do they ride? Do they just want to ride and don't have a bike yet? Where are they? Mexico? Costa Rica? Spain?

What kind of bike do they ride? Is it the single piston 150cc or 125cc bikes found often in latin america? Do they ride Vtwin's like harley's? Street bikes? Dirt bikes/hybrids/dual sports?

Then, why are they on your site? What is your post popular content? How to stuff? Repair stuff? Just looking at pictures and videos?

Once you have an understanding of who they are, you can start to think about what are their fears? desires? Needs? Wants?

Once you know this stuff, you can find physical products or informational products to offer them that match what they want.

So, lets say you determine that they are guys who want to ride, but don't have a bike yet... You could find (or make) an info product about how to get a great deal on buying a used bike.

Maybe they just bought a bike and are looking at tips on how to ride on your site... Then a 'how to ride' or 'how to get your motorcycle license' type info product would be more relevant.

No info products in spanish? GREAT! Reach out to a vendor and see about doing a JV where you translate it and get exclusive rights to the content in spanish for 1 year....

Physical parts may be a bit more difficult, because shipping isn't exactly simple here in Mexico... Which is where we currently live. But, If you can identify that most of your visitors are in one state in Mexico, I bet you could find a vendor who'd be willing to dropship products for you.

Get creative! ...And, be sure to build an email list with this traffic so in case it disappears one day, you still have an asset you can market to!

    Buena suerte, amigo!

If I was you and you're getting that many visitors a day, I would go for a Virtual Private Server(VPS) and unless you know how to set them up, I would definitely go the Managed VPS route so they fully manage your servers.. I have never heard of BigScoots before but MelanieandMiles must have good experience with them.

I myself am about to switch over to a VPS(fully managed) and I will be going with Knownhost.com as I done research for well over a month on this subject and found out through research and reviews that they're one of the best in the industry. The prices are very competitive and low and you get A LOT of Ram, Disk Space and Bandwith.

Also I think MelanieandMiles gave great advice on monetization about creating an info product to sell to them... I would also create a short info product, either ebook or video and offer it to them for free in exchange for their email address and I would build a targeted email list, because if you're getting 10k visitors a day to your site, then you should be able to build up a nice quality list relatively quick.

With this spike in traffic volumes over a short period of time on shared servers especially with host-gator they have a safety catchment to protect them for attacks and fake traffic bots, and a possible high load in terms of content from videos then i would speak with host-gator and look at upgrading your plan as this is the reason for the internal error message

Your traffic gives you lots of options. If you are visiting different groups on facebook, you could also have different opt-ins. For example, if you have lots of traffic from the motorcycle crowd, you could collect their emails by offering a related freebie and sell to them later.

If you share a different type video later, take note and offer something related as a freebie to that group. If you label your opt-in lists, you have different groups of buyers that you can have targeted offerings for down the road.

Best of Luck, (check your pm)

Categorise your site into different sections. The more pages you have the more ads you will be able to host and make more money.

Thank you guys for the quick feedback, because of you I got a clearer picture about hosting and I decided to upgrade my hosting plan!

On the other hand, my monetization problem is that I can't find any related offer for that audience in that language, not even Clickbank products or JvZoo or CPA or PLR...

      Whatever else happens/advice you receive:

If you aren't building a list from that traffic yet, start doing it now.

You'll regret it later if you don't.

You just put up a new website about two weeks ago and you are getting over 10,000 people a day visiting your site. Wow. With no paid advertising? This is all organic search engine traffic, and you are in the "motorcycles" niche? Hmm.

Now, I'm not trying to play devil's advocate, and if this is true then I am very happy for you and wish you the best of luck.

That said, I have been launching and running niche websites for 7 years and I have had some really big hits in that time as far as getting a specific niche and crushing it, but I've never seen results like this. A brand new website getting over 10K unique visitors a day in just two weeks and all organic? It just doesn't seem possible (anything is possible, however). What have you done for SEO? What plugins are you running to help get your content indexed and syndicated as fast as possible? Is the niche just "motorcycles" in general, or did you drill down into a more specific niche such as "Harley Davidson Sportster," or something like that?

Also, looking at your analytics, I see it looks like the website started to get traffic the very first or second day it was live, and not just a little traffic (for a first or second day). Also, I think $40-$50 per day from Adsense seems a little low for that volume of organic search traffic.I just looked at some keywords in that niche and some of the bids for those keywords are pretty high, meaning you should be making some good money for each click.

Again, if this is legit I applaud you. No, actually, I'm in awe of you.

I've had some pretty big niche website hits but it took a little more than two weeks and if by chance I grabbed a number one or two ranking for a good keyword I would get some traffic, but I'm talking 500-1000 visitors a day, at the very most. Like I said, it took over a month to get that kind of traffic. 10K+ visitors per day in two weeks and all without paid advertising is absolutely incredible.

Did you say if it was all organic?

Anyhow, best of luck to you. I wish you success with your website. Seems like you are already on your way there.

Nicheblogger, the success seems to be thanks to FB groups (post #5) along with a nice thumbnail image trick. As im sure you already know, FB groups can bring huge traffic

Still, even with the thumbnail "trick" (which is old news), I find 10K visitors per day from Facebook groups impossible unless the post went viral. Even then, doesn't seem plausible.

My opinion is the OP is full of BS.

I also just realized that the thread was started in 2014.

Bumping a 2-year old thread is a shady tactic to try and get sig exposure, IMO.

Not to mention the post was bumped by somebody who has a link to a "male enhancement" device in their signature LOL!

This is what puzzle me...just 2 weeks ?? Next with no paid traffic??? ( I not preferring junk traffic here ) A lot of us have website here and within 2 weeks usually average visitors should be around few hundred slowly up to at least 1k . Next not to forget SEO don't happen overnight too with keywords etc ....

I was I also curious how he do that but he claim using a trick to lure people click on FB.

Guys, like it or not this post was only to ask about a hosting problem I had at 2014 when I started that site, that's all.

Also HERE´s how I got that traffic.

So if you feel upset by reading a 2014 post just don't reply anymore and let the post rest in peace.
