Increasing Blog Visiblity.

Okay. So I have been writing a blog for about 3-4 months now.

Everytime I write an article which is twice a week, I share it to 15-20 places.

The Issue is them places, even though they are places related to the topics my blog relates to, I got very low traffic to the blog.

Even though I think the content is good with decent headings.

My links just don't convert.

Please can you give advice on this. I can PM you the link to my site if that is what you need.

I also begrudge using paid advertising at the moment because I currently do not have a product to make that money back.

thanks

Nathan

It sounds like you're doing the right things, Nathan, but have disappointing results? Are the places where you're sharing your articles places that already have the pre-targeted traffic you want to attract?

    This may help you: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6575732

I'm happy to look, and to offer suggestions/observations (if I can!) but it might be much later today that I reply.

    • Blogging is getting highly technical these days with
everyone competing for clicks/traffic. A good SEO
plugin is a must along with other plugins to help you
      generate traffic.

Do a search for "Must Have" Wordpress plugins and
also be sure to use good links including inter linking, that's
having a link on each post that links to another post on your
own site. This will help get you search engine attention.

Just keep doing what you are doing as far as getting as
much information as you can about the best ways to get
traffic to your blog. There is a ton of free information out
      there. Hope this helps.

I think you might benefit greatly from two things.

Tapping into sources which already have leads which are interested in what you're writing about

And boosting your site in google.

Honestly the first option is the best, most solid thing you could do. Anything built primarily on google is a bomb waiting to explode.

It sounds like you understand the importance of distributing your content for traffic, Good.

However, I'd say if the amount of traffic you're getting is still low, then you need to sit down and find some new sources.

Think sources which already have a huge niche, almost cult like following - That'll put you on the right path.
  • thanks guys n gals. alot of great info to think about and take action on.

I probably need to find that source that is very popular. I'll find it eventually.
  • Content need to be unique & excellent. You should avoid the plagiarism. Title should be also excellent. you may need to do some SEO to increase the traffic. SEO is the best way to increase the traffic.

      On the contrary ...

I always suggest to people that they shouldn't put time and effort into trying to attract SEO traffic, for two main reasons: first, it's very precarious and makes your business Google-dependent, and any business that's Google-dependent is no more than one algorithm-change away from a potential accident (or even a potential disaster), as so many Warriors have been finding out over the last year or two, some of them to their very great cost; secondly, for me, search engine traffic, in every single one of my niches, has been uniformly the worst-converting traffic out of everything I've ever tried - search engine visitors to all my websites typically stay the least time, view the fewest pages, opt in the least often and actually buy anything by far the least often. I admit I do get tons of search engine traffic to all my main sites (because high rankings for multiple keywords happen to be a minor side-benefit of the main targeted traffic-generation method I use) but I'd hate to have to make a living just from that traffic. If you have a good look round the forum, you'll also see plenty of other Warriors making exactly this point.

  • Nathan,

I would just not waste my time with this. It is not working and it probably never will.

What I would do is to look into paid ads and work with programs that can pay you residual.

Since I started my journey back in 2002, this is still VERY true:

It takes money to make money online.

Don't let other tell you that this is not true.

Not even those of us who built highly profitable, stable and expanding businesses without using paid advertising at all?

Your experience is your experience, Tal: I'm in no way belittling it, but there's really no need to allege that anyone with completely different experiences from yours is wrong.

  • I get lots of organic leads with my blog and I use paid ads to scale my business.

The trick is to optimize your posts and learn proper backlinking or use linkemperor as service backlinks so you dont get slapped by google.

Doing blog posts is very successful and Long term while paid ads is quick and a great boost to scale your business.

So doing both is definitely the way to go.

  • Building visibility for your blog takes time. You did not state how many visitors you're getting per day, so I'm not sure about that. But the days to pray and publish are gone. Honestly, if you want to get visibility now, you need to promote your blog yourself.

Build backlinks at the right places, rank your site for keywords that bring you targeted traffic. You can learn here: matthewwoodward.co.uk. I have learnt of lot of SEO myself from this guy Matt, and his posts are really helpful, gives away a lot of useful stuff for free.

Besides ranking your blog in search engines, also engage yourself in relationship blogging so that even if your blog gets penalized by some Google update, relationship blogging and social networking with other bloggers will bring in decent traffic for your blog to survive.

Both the methods combined together will make your blog visible.
  • Hi,

    Is 3 - 4 months long enough?

Maybe this is going to take a little more time.

In terms of blogging my blog is is a few years old now and I've found that
after the first year you tend to start ranking a little better for phrases/keywords
etc that are realistic and within your reach to rank for.

I don't even try and go for the SEO Google suck up method either.

It is just that my blog is quite old, it gets regular solid content (2,000 + words long)
that gives real value and links to outside content that is related etc.

And I do the basics when it comes to SEO on my posts.

    NOTHING SPECTACULAR.

So maybe it is your strategy or just that you need to give it a bit more time
    my friend.

Good luck and great effort so far by the way.

  • ah, so mant different answers. I got what I needed.

    thanks alexa.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Use viral content buzz. You get genuine traffic from social media almost instantly. It really increased my traffic.
  • So you're only looking for more traffic right now, or are you looking to make more money right now?

What's the difference between using paid advertising to get a blog lead who will visit your blog, read content, click on Adsense, etc..... and a free marketing lead who will do the same thing?

You will make your money back from the recurring traffic from your email list... whether that's via adsense, affiliate marketing, or personal products.
  • The only advice I can give you is to piggy-back the efforts of others. That's how you get things done much faster than you can do alone. And on top of that, you need to keep the mindset of a win-win contract.

What can you offer that is so valuable to her that you can receive an exchange of help?

    Look into...

    1. Existing platforms that already have your target audience - marketplaces, search engines, etc.
    2. Existing communities - blogs, forums, q&a's, social media groups, etc.
    3. Existing fanbases - celebrities, experts, known figures, etc.
    4. Existing assets - list-owners, sites with good traffic, ads, etc.

Just start racking your brains and think... where would your target audience be?

    • I would second Imogen on this.

      Think about it this way.

Traffic means flow of prospects, which is directly proportional to your popularity.

Flow of prospects depends on how crowded place you promote your product in.

Just figure out where your prospects are, and take part in social interactions.

That's the secret to acquiring your target audience.
  • It is not possible to increase the traffic within a night. It will take time. To increase your visitor, your blog content need to be with current need. Name / headline should be with easy, by which one visitor search by the keyword easily. Keyword is very important thing in the blogging. If you can take these necessary steps, I think your visitor will increase gradually.

    • content is the king as they say. content must be really unique and interesting to your target readers. you might be on the right path where you share your links to many varying sites..... but if its not enough, maybe you have to work on tags and keywords. i believe you blog is awesome! you just have to be very persistent. don't give up
  • Target Your Content to an Audience Likely to Share, Use Twitter, Facebook and Google+ to Share Your Posts
  • Hi, i sent you a PM.

There are many ways to have more traffic, but first of all we need to see your business, then what is your goal, because there are different methods of promotion and not all work well for any business.
  • If your blog is fairly new you should spend 75% of your time on "outreach" to bring audience back to your blog, and 25% of the time creating value at your blog.

That means getting yourself published/interviewed/featured on other sites that have the same target audience you want.

SEO takes time and will handle itself as you build your blog. The same goes for social media. In the beginning no one knows you exist so you need to get in front of a lot of people who desire the value you offer. You can do that by buying traffic or via relationships with people who have audience.

If I was starting from scratch now I would get a few core articles set up on my blog plus my email list up and running, then spend the rest of my time connecting with other bloggers, writers and podcasters.

    Good luck!

    Yaro
