Start new site and focus only on it? Or make case study site

Im starting a new site, and I'm grappling with the temptation to start a second site to be a case study for building the first site. I think I should focus on just the first site, but I see all these other sites making case studies and its so tempting to do the same.

Furthermore, I'm tempted to post income reports on the second site for the first site, but on the the other hand I see when others do this, their sites get ripped off word for word, not to mention negative SEO attacks.

One of the main reasons i want to have a second site is to hold myself accountable, yet I know making a case study site will require more work in addition to the work required for the first site.

    It's possible to have simultaneous projects but my advice would be to focus on at least building a successful foundation before taking on the next.

    Focus is everything.

    90% of Internet marketers (and humans in general) lack focus.

    I think focusing on one site and building a foundation is a good place to start.

    Once you've developed your first site and have a nice, fairly predictable, work flow - then move on to other projects.

    Case studies are often done 'after the fact'. So maybe make the first one a success, still document your process on the way, but maybe sell the case study in another format later on here on WF once the first site is a success and you do not mind showing it to the world.

      Do this. And avoid the temptation to do a case study after you make $1000. Crank it up to five figures per month for several months and then do a killer case study. That would attract a lot of attention including mine.

    I would work on the first site and forget about anything else. You want to focus all your attention on just one site till you are getting the traffic that you are looking for. Then when you are successful, work on more sites.

    I've had more than two sites but sold them one after another because I was juggling with so many sites that I did not have the time to focus and grow on site first. I was always confused. But now, I have only two, one my blog and other my service site, which I don't focus much on.

    So, it's better start and succeed with one site first before moving onto the other. When the work of the first site becomes sort of automated with lots of visitors, start a second one.

    Stay focused and learn from your first website. After you gain enough traffic, you can work on more sites. As @origin says, document your workflow and you are fine for the moment.

    Uhhh just document your progress with the first site. Build up the site, as well as content documenting its development, and then if it turns out to be a success...use the content for a product. That way you've done a case study and created a possible product whilst only focusing on one project.

    Content= videos, stats, screenshots, income reports, etc.

    totally agree with dudeman, you will have an asset to promote later on but only if you succeed in the first project.

    Keep tabs of the first project, while making that site work and work very well. I think you're making it a little more complicated than it has to be.

    It totally depends on the amount of time you have.

    If you build a second site and it hurts your main project because you are lacking time, then don't do it, if you have spare time, then sure go ahead.

    One site - for sure. Don't overwhelm yourself or burn yourself over this. I think you're an ambitious person to pursue 2 things at once, but just be smart about it. Dominate 1 site, automate it for life, and THEN start another - and do the same thing. I think this approach will work best for you. But you have to get the 1st site to pop initially.
